Musings Episode 46: The Art of Discipline…

A few episodic musings back I talked on and shared thoughts about strength training and how it’s not just a physical thing, but a mental one too.

I’d like to elaborate a bit more on that and discuss the additional benefits of the disciplinary aspect.

mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success, the distance between your dreams and reality is called discipline

There’s a great audio I’ve been listening to by Abraham Hicks this past week and I must say, it really addresses the subject of human beings and how we deserve the life we desire.

The problem is so many people are caught up on their current realities they don’t take the time and effort to think up and really work towards getting a “new reality.” Many lack the mental discipline.

While Abraham notates on a consistent basis it’s not about “making” anything happen or “ramming” things into place, they do make clear that in order to change your current (or any given) situation, you absolutely MUST take control of your thoughts – albeit many people think they have no control over such things, and that in fact their thoughts can control them.

Truth is, people DO have control over their thoughts, contrary to what society teaches. It just takes a bit of will power.

self-discipline begins with napoleon hill, mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success

The same way someone wants their business to succeed is the same way you should have a desire to have control over your thoughts…because thoughts can be dangerous.

They can trigger emotion, and if focused on too long can turn your entire day upside down. This is what makes movies, television shows, and songs so powerful. It’s a thought one can relate to that evokes an emotion…sometimes this can be used for good, like a good comedy or action film…and other times it can just clutter your mind with junk, like horror films (sorry horror movie enthusiasts).

The same way I question why people focus on negativity, is the same way I question why people would possibly want to take things in their ear and eye gates that leave them with nothing but negative feelings, including but not limited to fear, paranoia, sadness, anger, loneliness, etc…the list continues.

whenever a negative thought norman vincent peale, mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success

If it’s something that doesn’t help you in adding to that good feeling vibe or positive state of mind, it’s a waste of time and not helping you in any way.

The key to changing your current reality is discipline in the sense that you have to make it your business to keep yourself on a “high flying disc,” and shy away from negativity. Things like arguments, work gossip, and idle talk are huge distractions, and only accomplish one thing – setting your mental state out of whack and getting your mind off more important things.

Focusing on negativity only breeds more negativity, the same way hate breeds hate and talking about sickness attracts sickness.

Everyday, you want to make the conscious decision to engage as much as possible in things that make YOU feel good. It could be listening to a song you like, reading a good book, seeing a good movie, or interacting with other people who exude that positive vibe you’re constantly after.

a happy life is just a string of happy moments abraham hicks, mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success

The same way it’s not your job to save the world, it’s not your job to make everyone else happy. You can be considerate and caring for your fellow man/woman, but you must still make it a priority to be in pursuit of your own happiness as well.

Will Smith‘s movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” portrays this perfectly, as throughout the film you constantly see Smith’s character doing his utmost to keep himself from going into a state of panic and dismay in his given situation.

It starts with a thought. Then that thought leads to a feeling…and that feeling leads to an action. Pick which thoughts you want to think and you can pick which feelings you want to have. Pick which feelings you want to feel and you can pick which actions you want to take. Pick which actions you want to take and you can start turning your current “NOW” into whatever you will it to be.

mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success, you have control over three things sonya friedman

This is why they say thoughts are like seeds.

Depending on how much you water them, they can grow or they can wilter and die. Choose which thoughts you want to grow – and your success will grow in direct and parallel fashion.

All it takes is discipline. The same way you discipline yourself to get up and go to that job everyday. Or take care of those kids you have. Or pay those bills you have. If you can do this for everyday actions, why not do this for everyday thoughts – which in fact control your everyday actions? Food for thought…

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 43: Be Teflon.

So the other day I’m walking around the store looking for a new saucepan (yes, saucepan) and there’s a whole slew of Teflon products on the shelves.

When it comes to cooking, I’m not really into Teflon. I don’t like what it’s made of, don’t like the chemical reaction that occurs when it’s heated. Overall, it’s not the kind of product I’d stock my whole kitchen with.

On the flip side – how everything slides right off it never seizes to amaze me.

Even though I wouldn’t buy it – you’ve gotta love how cool and convenient that is. That made me think about a few things concerning life.

Thinking about it I know seeing the words “Teflon” and “life” in the same sentence doesn’t actually make too much sense, but in a funny enough way they actually go hand in hand.

Couple weeks ago I posted up a Spiritual Saturdays post where Abraham Hicks discusses the astonishing power of emotion, talks about a person’s vibration and staying in the “vortex” plus various other aspects. It goes on for a good 30 minutes.

Really when you think about it, emotions and vibrations go hand in hand yet can be separated. The key is aligning your energy or “thoughts“…because your thoughts can eat you alive. A good movie that has an excellent example of this is “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh” – to sum it up it’s about a guy who even though married the woman of his dreams can’t get over his own issues that are revolving around in his head.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions,Main Meri Patni Aur Woh screenshot

Getting a hold of your own vibration sounds odd at first and can take some getting used to, but when you do learn to control and eventually master it, you’ll wonder why it was so hard in the beginning. The free eBook offered here helps with this.

Choosing what to focus on is one of the most powerful things a person can master.

Let’s start talking in terms of analogies.

Choice of thought can be looked at like a pan over a hot burner on a stove top. Depending on what the pan is made of affects how the things that it comes into contact with will cook.

If you don’t take the conscious effort to have control over your own thoughts or your mood, then your whole energy alignment will be like a new skillet that hasn’t been seasoned and needs to be pre-oiled – everything will stick and burn, making it hard for the next food item to be heated or cooked – because the previous item is still stuck onto the pan.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions

If however, you train yourself enough to take control over your thoughts, mood, or “vibration,” and make the conscious decision to say:

“NO. No matter what happens, no matter who I come into contact with, no matter what the weather’s like, no matter what situation I encounter I’m going to make it my business to stay in this happy, relaxed state of mind today…”

if you make the decision to say that to yourself and then follow through with it…well then my friend you’ll be like Teflon.

If someone’s having an off day and you’re just “skipping along” or it’s been smooth sailing with your mood, and you make the decision to say “I don’t have time for this, this isn’t making me feel good, I’m not going to be this vibration or this mood’s company,” eventually, you’ll come to find out that someone else’s energy will just sail right past you.

You’ll be like a Teflon pan where when someone throws an egg in to make an omelet, it just swirls around like a glass of fine wine.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions

This is when you truly take control of your day to day mood and feelings. You don’t have to be affected by others if you don’t choose or allow to. The decision lies in choosing to allow. Remember that.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 42: It’s Not Your Job to Save The World…

I’ve been listening to Abraham Hicks lately during my morning routines and it’s given me the idea to touch on a subject that can sometimes come up in certain conversations. The audio that got me thinking about it I’ll be posting for this upcoming Spiritual Saturday’s post at my official site.

In lifestyle coaching – and even fitness consulting – sometimes I get clients that are so happy with their transformations they want to spread the word like wild fire. Which I’m perfectly happy with…but keep reading.

One client in particular (let’s call her Sue) lost a tremendous amount of weight through three factors:

  1. Reading my free eBook which I offer that teaches you about goal setting/changing your thinking
  2. Proper diet
  3. Exercise

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego, abraham hicks, the only measurement is between my desire and my allowing and your emotions tell you everything about that

For a couple weeks she tried encouraging her friends to try it out, to which they weren’t that interested. In fact, some of them stopped hanging around her. Keep in mind Sue did have some weight on her pre-transformation and so did some of her friends. When she realized they weren’t as into reaching the same goals she was, initially she was dejected.

She came to me and we sat down, had a talk. I had to explain to her that she can’t save the world, nor is it her job. Initially she was a bit confused – more or less on the “job” part.

“It’s not my job? I don’t think it is – but everyone should know about this, it can really help them! If I can do it they can too!” she said.

“Even though a person can desire something, not all the time they’re ready to actually take the steps in doing it.” I responded.

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego, goal quotes, abraham hicks quotes

…and that’s the truth. There are millions of ideas, services, products, and ways out there people can be helped. Literally. MILLIONS. In fact I’m pretty confident there’s a solution to at least every problem out there on the face of this earth – but nothing, and I do mean nothing can be done if people aren’t willing to embrace, accept, and partake in the solution.

Think of it as a friend coming to you complaining about a problem they’re having. They talk, and talk, and talk about it. They talk about it until hours pass. Then finally, silence.

Now there’s two ways people usually handle this setting – they either talk about the problem with that friend until they’re both blue in the face, but may not necessarily find a solution – OR when their friend finishes talking, say “okay – now what can be done to fix/solve it?”

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego

There are studies that have been done where they’ve found men and women communicate differently. Men have a tendency to want to get right down to it, assessing the problem then coming up with the answer with all other factors (like emotion) filtered out. Women talk about things to get their head clear, but at times don’t take action on the solution they’re thinking of.

Keep in mind these are studies – at times you can have that kind of guy who talks about his problems but then doesn’t really seek out an answer, then that kind of remarkable woman who cuts to the chase and gets right on finding a solution.

All in all, the focus point here is even if someone has a problem, if they’re not willing (or perhaps not even ready) for the solution, there is absolutely nothing you can do. You may coax and persuade. You may try all those psychology tips you minored in at college…but if a person isn’t ready for the solution, it’s not your job to force feed it to them.

The same way you can’t control another persons thoughts and vice versa, is the same way you can’t make them accept a solution.

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego,no one else can think your thought that's true freedom abraham hicks

It’s not your job. It’s not your responsibility. The only thing you can do is extend your hand – and see if they take it.

This is what I had to translate to Sue. No matter how much she wanted to help her other friends, if they weren’t ready for it, they just weren’t ready for it…and that’s okay. Every person has their own life, and free will to run that life they’re given any way they please.

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego, abraham hicks quotes, you are a creator and the subject of creation is your joyful life experience

Which is why in my audio introduction to what Rego’s Life is all about, I stress that exact point. I can provide the tools, the inspiration, and the motivation – but after that, it’s ALL YOU. The only thing I’m doing is giving you a bit of a push – and if you so choose to pick up momentum from that push, then congratulations.

But I’m not gonna “hard sell” anyone into improving their lifestyle. I’ve never believed in doing that. I will consistently provide the tools and motivation though – because it’s my passion. It’s what I love doing. I’ve found my calling, and in doing so, live a much happier life than I would doing something I don’t like or at a job I hate.

It’s not my job to save the world…it’s not my responsibility. Every single human being is their own responsibility.

sri chinmoy, save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego, try not to change the world sri chinmoy

The only thing I help do is start the engine and help you get that momentum going.

It’s all you…and you can do it. You’ll do it – when you’re ready.

For The Weekenders: Saloons, Bull Riding, and Dirty Laundry…

First off…Happy New Year.

Secondly, I hope everyone had a great New Year’s Eve – I can certainly say I did. This For The Weekenders I thought I’d try something different from the usual pace…you know how it is – upscale lounge bars, jet set destinations, and the like…most of my readers know by now I’m not really into divey bars or anything. Though I have a small confession – a few places were able to capture my attention – call them the kind of hot spots that walk the line when it comes to aesthetic appeal and quality. So here’s the rundown on 3 places that are for that night when you just wanna go casual. Enjoy.

There’s a point in your natural adult life where going to the newest, most modern late night hot spots can get a bit, well, monotonous…you know, the same crowd, the same drinks, the same music. Sometimes it’s nice to have a change. Something where you know for a fact someone can’t really say “I was there last week too! Where were you?” Good news…Crane’s Downtown in Los Angeles serves up just that.

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

…with a vault entrance saloon. Yeah. We’re getting original.

What’s the best part about this place? You wouldn’t know it exists because it’s underground. In a safe. That was once part of an old bank (obviously). The owners who bought the place decided to get creative and lo and behold – Crane’s Downtown was born. Though they don’t have a website, which they seriously should in my opinion this place is too good not to have a huge web presence (call me, I’m here to help.), don’t let that stop you from checking them out.

Why? It’s a mix between dive bar, saloon, and an upscale joint. While the three descriptions being fused together sounds odd, it’s actually a better combination than one would expect. It’s cozy. It’s vintage. It’s unique. The price is right. It’s friendly. It’s everything you could ask for. What are you waiting for – get your arse down to Crane’s Downtown this weekend. You’ll love it (and thank me later.)

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

Since we’re on the topic of saloons and all, might as well bring to light another great place that mixes a nice modern but gritty feel together…but this time with extreme sports.

I won’t lie – I wasn’t always a city slicker…for a good part of my youth I lived in the country – I’m talking about country so far set in the woods the nearest, “proper” grocery store was 10 miles out and your closest neighbor farther than shouting distance. I learned about cars, wild life, and the joys of target practice….though somehow I could never get into country music. That’s another story though – the bottom line is, there’s one thing in particular that always fascinated me – bull riding. Fortunately, there is a place that can satisfy my secret shame, where no one’s to judge.

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

I call it “country pleasures for city dwellers.” – A title in progress, but *shrugs*…

It’s pretty straight forward – there’s a bar. There’s a grill. There’s fire pits. There’s bourbon. Then there’s a mechanical bull that’s just waiting to take down it’s next contender – equipped with an on board camera to capture the look on your face as it tries to throw you. Go ahead and send a thank you card to PBR Rock Bar. What does PBR stand for exactly? Professional Bull Riding. Yeah – these guys mean business.

Here’s what I recommend – make a reservation. You’ll need it with the crowd and all. You’ll also need some quality booze and food – the food’s for after the bull ride. Knock back a few glasses of bourbon on the rocks (try for American Honey), and make sure you’ve got proper riding attire – sturdy denim and proper boots are a must.

Hopefully you’ve trained for this so you can impress that date you brought along and possibly hustle a few of your city friends who never knew you had an interest (or skill) for such things…then get out there and grab your short moment of attention and fame. If you came out alright, my guess is that date of yours will have a cold one waiting for you…among other things.

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

Let’s…let’s just replace that with a Dos Equis though. There’s some things I just never could get used to.

Strut past your friends while you’re at it and collect that nice $300 or so pooled bet money and order yourself up a nice meal for the appetite you worked up while showing off your sheer awesomeness to the world – or at least most of Las Vegas…and hey, maybe if you’re daring enough after about 3 or 4 glasses of bourbon, you can even get into singing “Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy.”

Just maybe.

I’ll leave that one up to you though…

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

After all that I’d say you’ll pretty much work up a sweat.

Might as well not stop there and keep going – though your mother may have said never air your dirty laundry, I think you can make an exception – this is a different kind, the type that’s a whole lot more fun. Might as well finish off that weekend right with a little place back in L.A…

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

Following the rough and ready style weekend I think this is a great place to kick back and wind down…known for it’s early 20th century look and feel, it’s one of those places where you know you’re some place nice but don’t have to necessarily dress for the occasion – and really, what’s better than that?

This one changes the station on that radio you have there though – Dirty Laundry (that’s the name of the place, by the way) switches to rock and hip-hop for music while keeping things interesting with their various and peculiar but eye catching décor, you’ll feel like you’re in a film intended for the modern but brilliantly mixed up kind of crowd that gets you wanting to join in all the fun. Be prepared for hot people…you’ve gotta appreciate the plethora of hot people…and drinks. Gatsby himself would probably be seen slipping into a place like this once or twice in his day.

For The Weekenders Saloons Bull Riding and Dirty Laundry, Rego's Life, Rego, Regos Life, For The Weekenders, lifestyle and entertainment, lifestyle enhancements, PBR Rock Bar, Crane’s Downtown, dirty laundry los angeles, las vegas nightlife, los angeles nightlife, la nightlife

Dirty laundry never looked so clean.

Musings Episode 40: Tighten Up…

Hope you all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to partying it up this New Year’s Eve. This episodic musing is really more of a follow up from one I wrote a few weeks ago on clean slates…and it’s gonna get a bit serious.

responsibility, responsibile, being responsible, responsibility quotes, define responsibility, musings episode 40 tighten up, rego's life

With the close of the year so closely upon us, I’m sure most of you are already making new year’s resolutions to knock off at the beginning of the year – I know a lot of my clients have, especially some of my fitness ones.

On the flip side, I also know that many new year’s resolutions are also broken shortly after the new year begins…I don’t want you guys to do that. Not my subscribers on this blog or my official site. I want you to understand that a new year’s resolution isn’t just something you write on a piece of paper – it’s a promise. A goal. An objective…to yourself. Something that should be followed through with and accomplished.

responsibility, responsibile, being responsible, responsibility quotes, define responsibility, musings episode 40 tighten up, rego's life

This new year, I want you guys to tighten up, and stick to your guns – play the game out to the end, no matter what…because crossing things off a list you’ve set out to do is far more satisfactory than the 100 “what ifs” floating around in your head.

What do I mean by tighten up exactly?

Be a bit hard on yourself.

Take some responsibility. The same way you get up every morning and commit to brushing your teeth, getting a shower, and making it to work, I want you to do the same when it comes to your own goals. The same way you remember your kid’s birthday, your anniversary, and buying gifts for loves ones (or even that “surprise Santa” office junk) I want you to do the same thing with your goals. You owe it to yourself.

responsibility, responsibile, being responsible, responsibility quotes, define responsibility, musings episode 40 tighten up, rego's life. the moment you take responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you can change anything in your life hal elrod

The same way a fitness consultant is with their clients is or a drill sergeant is with their soldiers, I want you to be with yourself.

It’s a sense of obligation you should feel.

If a dying man diagnosed with cancer can attempt to cross off his list all the things he’d wish he’d done, you can too.

Because really, not to get dark but every day, humans are dying.

Time is non-refundable.

It’s up to you, and you only to make the decision to turn those minutes into minutes of LIFE.

Unless you’re under 18 or in diapers, you’re completely responsible for yourself. You have no excuse.

…which brings me to another point – there are kids out there who have to fend for themselves, even under 18 – if they can do it, you sure as fuck can do it too.

Don’t just survive. THRIVE.

the moment you take responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you can change anything in your life hal elrod, steps to self reliance

I want you to understand every single person has two potentials:

To be a WINNER.

Or a complete fucking loser.

The choice is yours.

Life doesn’t have to have sacrifices.

The only sacrifice is allowing the time to build your ideal life instead of settling.

…and really – that’s not a sacrifice at all.

people without firmness of character, the moment you take responsibility for everything in your life is the moment you can change anything in your life hal elrod, steps to self reliance

So tighten up, get your shit together, and knock out whatever goals it is you’re planning this year.

If it’s to lose 10 pounds, do it.

If it’s to start your own business, do it.

Fuck, if it’s to get yourself a new car without getting yourself in debt, fucking do it.

Just make a decision and stick with it.

I want you all to succeed so badly I feel it in my fucking TEETH.

…but I can’t force you to do shit – you’ve gotta do it yourself.

So choose.

The decision is yours.

But whatever decision you make – make sure you have no regrets.

I started this blog because I had a message to share, along with valuable information and insight.

I started this blog to let people know that they have WAY MORE potential than they give themselves credit for.

YOU have more potential than you give yourself credit for.

You do.

You really. Fucking. Do.

Musings Episode 39: I’m All In…

Was giving my computer a tune up the other day, organizing some files and programs, when I came across a game I hadn’t played in a while: PKR, a 3D poker game, UK based. Quite interesting to look through all the chips I’d racked up over the time I’d had the account.

how to control stress, how to control anxiety, how to control your emotions, strategic planning, problem solving skills, creative problem solving, rego's life, musings episode 39 I'm all in, benefits of playing poker

This got me thinking about a few things, how poker is one of those games where it’s all about taking emotion out of the equation, keeping your game tight and close…especially when the stakes get high. Reading people’s emotions or reactions, determining their next move (it’s even possible to do it online, with enough training), and both knowing and understanding when the time is right to play hard, go “all in.”

how to control stress, how to control anxiety, how to control your emotions, strategic planning, problem solving skills, creative problem solving, rego's life, musings episode 39 I'm all in, benefits of playing poker

In factoring all these disciplines and qualities in, you really have to admit, poker players are something to be admired – the same way you would in any given combat sport I respect the players better than me and try and learn from them. Poker is all about taking risks, while understanding the risks you’re taking aren’t really risks but instead pre-determined moves from a long string of organized and evaluative thinking.

When you think about it, the same principles apply to life. Not that every move is pre-determined, of course there are some unexpected variables and factors you never see that get thrown your way – but even then, it’s about relaxing, maintaining your composure, and through the thick of it all, thinking up and structuring a solution.

I have a saying, “if you’re gonna talk about it, it better be to find a solution.” In other words, if you’ve encountered a negative situation or a problem in general, if you’re going to talk for hours about it, at least be talking about it to find a constructive solution. Otherwise, you’ve just wasted time in idle conversation.

Once you do find a solution or way to remedy whatever it is you’re dealing with, even if it’s not a problem but instead just another step towards your own success, you’ve gotta make it your business to avoid hesitation, hit the throttle and cross that checkpoint, make it to the finish line.

You’ve gotta go “all in” when you not just think – but feel, know the time is right.

This is why I encourage people to play different games of all sorts, from board games to physical activity, especially Poker.

It takes patience. Discipline. Situational Awareness. Assessment. Raising the stakes at the right time, and raising them BIG…and as Kenny Rogers says, even knowing when to fold.

Try out PKR this week, the account takes a few minutes to set up and they offer both simulation and real cash games. Trying out the game a few rounds will teach you about your own emotions, reactions, and instinctive reflexes in situations when things go south or get tense.

If you’ve already tried out a game similar to PKR, comment and share below, letting me know what it’s taught you.

As always…

Stay Awesome.

Musings Episode 38: Perfection…

Hey guys, thought I’d have a change of scenery today so writing this episodic musing from the beach:

definition of perfect, perfect meaning, definition of perfection, present perfect definition, the definition of perfect, is perfection possible, there's no such thing as perfect, myths, rego's life, musings episode 38: Perfection, perfection,

Hope your weekend’s are going well.

This past week a lot of progress has been made – for one, my official site has been COMPLETELY revamped giving it a nice new look with added features – go ahead and check it out.

In celebration, I’ll be giving away a free gift starting tomorrow that will run all week – be sure to head over and find it in tomorrow’s Make it Mondays post at 11:00 A.M. EST and get it before it’s too late. After Saturday December 21st it will no longer be available.

Second of all, I’m in the making of creating some great podcasts for you guys and will be adding another, special post to my arsenal – it starts Saturday, and will be posted up on the official site as well.

Thirdly – and this mostly has to do with health & fitness, I’ve been putting together this new year’s package for all my fitness clients who’ve been with me for more than one year. I think it’s gonna be a great gift and Christ knows they deserve it, they’ve worked hard and have gone through a lot of transitions to be proud of, and still continue to reach their ideal goals – their own little versions of “perfection”.

definition of perfect, perfect meaning, definition of perfection, present perfect definition, the definition of perfect, is perfection possible, there's no such thing as perfect, myths, rego's life, musings episode 38: Perfection, perfection,

Let’s linger on that last bit for a minute – perfection.

I used to love this word. In fact I still quite often use it in my vocabulary. While some people treat it with great disdain I embrace it, and have done so for many years – but within those years have learned that it takes on a whole different meaning than what’s in the dictionary.

Usually, what does perfect mean? To be flawless. Spotless. To never err. To be complete.

Anyone ever seen that movie Tron: Legacy? I believe I talked about this in an earlier post, the beginning of this year. Anyway, if you have seen the movie there’s a part near the very end where Flynn and CLU are battling it out, and right when CLU has (Kevin) Flynn where he wants him, says this:

CLU cries out to Kevin: “I took the system to its maximum potential. I created the perfect system!”

Kevin Flynn: “The thing about perfection is that it’s unknowable. It’s impossible, but it’s also right in front of us, all the time. You wouldn’t know that because I didn’t, when I created you… I’m sorry, CLU… I’m sorry.”

That’s the key point. Right there. Perfection is unknowable – it can be staring you right in the face and you may not even realize it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying don’t cease going after being the best person you can be. Nor am I saying being content is what you want to aim for.

definition of perfect, perfect meaning, definition of perfection, present perfect definition, the definition of perfect, is perfection possible, there's no such thing as perfect, myths, rego's life, musings episode 38: Perfection, perfection,

The key word Flynn used is UNKNOWABLE.

In saying this, perfection can be ATTAINABLE in some sense, if you put it into the right perspective. You can build a vision of your idealistic you, and label it as perfect – not to society’s standards, not to your friends or parents standards, but to you.

Pushing towards and taking the actions to become a better, idealized you, with various goals and milestones, can indeed be looked at as some form of perfection – in your eyes. The same way the saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” that exact logic can be applied to perfection – perfection, in effect, is in the eye of the beholder.

definition of perfect, perfect meaning, definition of perfection, present perfect definition, the definition of perfect, is perfection possible, there's no such thing as perfect, myths, rego's life, musings episode 38: Perfection, perfection,

If you’re looking for self-perfection, and have a firm belief and understanding of what or who you would ideally like to be and identify yourself with as a person, then the only human being that has the right to mark that as perfect is you.

This doesn’t mean perfection is the goal – but what the goal has potential to become when achieved. This doesn’t mean contentment is wrong – but if you have potential to be better and do more you by all means should.

You’re born to be the best you can be – and by striving for that, when the time comes to leave this earth, you can say that you died living…and it was a good life.

definition of perfect, perfect meaning, definition of perfection, present perfect definition, the definition of perfect, is perfection possible, there's no such thing as perfect, myths, rego's life, musings episode 38: Perfection, perfection, perfection is lots of little things done well

So this week, think up a few ways in which you already feel perfect – then improve the aspects of yourself that you see need polishing. If you’ve already got a thought or two bouncing around in your head, share and comment below.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 37: Clean Slates…

It’s that time of the year again where people celebrate holidays, reunite with family, and start thinking on their New Year Resolutions.

clean slate, rego's life, musings episode 37 clean slates, start your life, start living now, wipe out negativity, wipe out negative thoughts

In saying that, I thought this week’s musing would be appropriate. I wanna discuss with you all about starting new, and getting rid of any old and negative things, thoughts, and beliefs that aren’t really important in life.

Therefore I am encouraging all my readers to comment more and share below – I check my stats on here at least 3 times a week – while I appreciate all the great views from so many different readers, I still like to actually hear from my visitors as well. So let’s see some comments and discussion – after all, it’s one of many reasons why the site Rego’s Life was made.

So to continue, let’s start with a little something I like to call “clean slates”…

clean slate, rego's life, musings episode 37 clean slates, start your life, start living now, wipe out negativity, wipe out negative thoughts

The phrase in and of itself is a pretty clear explanation of the topic at hand. Every year, people everywhere, and from every culture, push to start off the new year with a “clean slate” – new goals, plans, or an idea for a new business, etc.

A large percentage of the world consider the new year to start on January 1st, 2013.

Jewish kick it off with Rosh Hashanah.

Chinese with Chinese New Year.

The list goes on and on…

clean slate, rego's life, musings episode 37 clean slates, start your life, start living now, wipe out negativity, wipe out negative thoughts, new year's resolutions

…and every culture has their own way of bringing in the new year with different customs and “rituals,” for lack of a better word. House cleaning, money giving, celebratory foods, another exercise regime, new affirmations with all sorts of promises to themselves, or others…

…but how about the rest of the year?

Why just wait until the beginning of a new year – why cut yourself short of the chance to start a better life sooner?

In saying this, what many have the opportunity to realize is the new year isn’t the only time to wipe your slate clean and start being better and bigger.

clean slate, rego's life, musings episode 37 clean slates, start your life, start living now, wipe out negativity, wipe out negative thoughts

It can happen anytime you want…it’s merely allowing yourself the time to make it happen.

This is exactly what prompted me to get COMPLETELY out of the j.o.b. world and push for a more fulfilling life… Were my thoughts that it would ever be or is easy – believe me when I say EVERY entrepreneur has their bad days…but compared to the shit you have to shovel at working a standard job – well paying or not (and I’ve had BOTH ends of the spectrum), the freedom to control your own time is most definitely worth it.

How many of you will agree – financial stability is one of many great feelings in the world. The thought of eating healthy and having a great place to live, comfortable threads on your back, and proper heating/air conditioning are the simple things you enjoy in life but don’t really stop to think and appreciate.

Yet if they suddenly disappear, only then do you realize how much they mean to you.

Simple-things-Paolo-Coelho-Picture-Quote1

Truth is though you really should – it’s in appreciating the smaller things you can actually start anything you want with much greater ease and a feeling of assurance. Once you understand what you already have in front of you – it’s from there you can wipe all the unnecessary things out of your life and start with fresh new ideas, concepts, and actions.

These days mass accummulation is so easy – both mentally and physically. Mentally, a person can accumulate a lot of cloudy thoughts and ideas, negativity, and fear – all of which can mix in with positive and clear, prioritized thoughts…the thing to remember is though, is that negative and positive forces can’t reside in the same space for long.

It’s impossible – one will overpower the other, and the one that does is entirely up to you. So if you’re feeling a little off, but you have a lot of positive things around you going on – that one negative thing that’s got you feeling not like your normal self can easily overpower all the other positive things around you.

clean slate, rego's life, musings episode 37 clean slates, start your life, start living now, wipe out negativity, wipe out negative thoughts

On the flip side – if you’re feeling great, and you have a lot of negative things going on around you – though it may take more effort – focusing on that one positive thing can eliminate each and every little negative thing/thought going on around/within you.

I know what you’re probably thinking – easier said than done, right? That all depends…on exactly how you handle things. Feelings can be powerful tools – and weapons.

So starting now, give yourself the chance with a clean slate, and utilize your feelings, thoughts, and beliefs to become the most powerful, useful tools at your finger tips.

One last things – earlier on today I was watching a movie with the family – called “Last Holiday” – there’s a particular line Queen Latifah recites that grabbed my attention:

As always…

Stay awesome.
