“Your competition is not other people but…

Musings: Quote Wednesdays…

Your competition is not other people but the time you kill the ill will you create the knowledge you neglect to learn the connections you fail to build the health you sacrifice along the path your inability to generate ideas the people around you who don't support and love your efforts and whatever god you curse for your bad luck James Altucher, Rego's Life quotes, James Altucher quotes, James Altucher, competition quotes, Quote Wednesdays, Rego's Life Quote Wednesdays, Quote Wednesdays Rego's Life, happy humpday, willpower, Rego's Life, competition, you vs you, me vs me, the only competition is yourself, competitive, life, millenials, succcess, drive, comfort zones, self-confidence, how to beat the competition, how to win, win, how to win at life, karma, competition quote, university, work, motivational, inspirational, how to live life, how to live life to the fullest, ignore the haters, believe in yourself
Like I mentioned in this week’s episodic musing, your competition is not other people. There is no such thing as competition – it’s about being a better version of yourself than you were yesterday.

It’s about being around people that are good for YOU – not just the other way around. It’s about remembering that there is no such thing as lack – but there is such a thing as a lack of people cooperating with each other more and more these days – the latter being something that people will still try and manipulate for their own benefit.

Don’t let you stop you – let alone someone else stop you. But more importantly, if you see someone trying to contribute something to the world, trying to better themselves, without stepping on other people’s toes or crushing another person’s throat – don’t pull them down.

It’s a two-way street…

Hope everyone’s having a great week.

“The war was…

Musings: Quote Wednesdays…

The war was an escape to reality The only thing that mattered were human relationships not money not position not even family Only relationships with people who might be dead tomorrow were important It is a sort of wonderful state of mind It's too bad it takes a war to create such a condition among men William wyler, rego's life quotes, quote wednesdays, william wyler, william wyler quotes, human relationships quotes, relationship quotes, war quotes, family quotes, quotes, life quotes, rego's life quote wednesdays, quote wednesdays rego's life
It’s weird how the world works sometimes. Tragedies and war bring people together, but really that shouldn’t be the case. Humans shouldn’t have to be knocked abruptly out of their day to day lives to make them appreciate life, let alone the people around them.

Being cordial, kind, or even nice isn’t that hard…and I think when a person takes the time out to build camaraderie with other people, it means something much more than just being involved on Facebook. The ironic thing about mobile phones, social networks, and the like is that they were supposed to make it easier to keep in touch with people – yet nowadays calling someone before texting seems odd.

Think about it.

I thought this was really appropriate for this week considering the last episodic musing I wrote. It ties in with my reference I made about you only knowing yourself if you deserve something, and how something as simple (but complex) as nature allows you to reap the harvest you put your blood, sweat, and tears into; whereas when putting your all into something in “civilisation” people will try and get in your way.

The great thing about the gym is you see your effort put into what you do, in it’s most raw form; there are no smoke screens, no falseness, no bull. Your progress is marked by your PRs, the burn after every rep, and the DOMS that sometimes hits you like a brick wall the next day. You learn about yourself in the most intimate way.

I hope everyone’s having a great week. This quote was from an essay Henry Rollins did, “The Iron and The Soul“. I highly recommend giving it a read – it doesn’t matter if you workout or not – maybe it’ll inspire you to start.

“Indeed, the best…

Musings: Quote Wednesdays…

Indeed the best way to think of willpower is not as some shapeless behavioral trait but as a sort of psychic muscle one that can atrophy or grow stronger depending on how it's used Jeffrey kluger, stronger quotes, jeffrey kluger quotes, rego's life quotes, rego's life, regoslife, quote wednesdays, rego's life quote wednesdays, quote wednesdays rego's life
Just a little mid-week inspiration. The strength of willpower isn’t static, or fixed, but can change or develop with time or experiences…how it does so, is up to you.

Look out for this week’s “For The Weekenders” tomorrow.

It’s good to be back.
