Musings Episode 75: Relationships…

I’m guessing everyone had a good weekend. Let’s just jump right into it.

Musings Episode 75: Relationships…

There's a hardening of the culture reality tv has lowered the standards of entertainment you're left wondering about the legitimacy of relationships nancy meyers, nancy meyers, nancy meyers quotes, rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
When you think about socialising, the term can be defined in many ways, and is really a multi-purpose thing. It fits into our daily life on many levels – platonically, romantically, etc.

People socialise for several reasons – maintaining friendships, getting acquainted with new people for the sake of acquiring new friends; reinforcing/building onto romantic relationships, creating new romantic relationships; expanding social networks for business purposes; maintaining family relationships; socialising to learn new things – maybe a skill you want to develop or just for the sake of honing your current skill in the art of conversation.

When you look at the list above, it’s more than obvious that socialising is primarily used for the sake of creating or maintaining relationships throughout life in general.

kindness and intelligence don't always deliver us from the pitfalls and traps there are always failures of love of will of imagination there is no way to take the danger out of human relationships barbara grizzuti harrison quotes, rego's life quotes, barbara grizzuti harrison
Socialising also takes time…and time is a valuable asset that’s always wise to spend smartly.

So if you’re spending something as precious as time on socialising, naturally you want the experience of socialising to be one of quality – because you want the relationships you form from socialising to be of quality.

And when you think about it, relationships are something people have and have had throughout their natural lives. For some, relationships have consisted of quantity over quality, and vice versa.

Time, socialising, and relationships are all intrinsically linked to each other. Meaning time is the metaphorical money you invest at life’s “investment firm” of socialising, in the hopes to see a good return on your investment in the form of relationships.

relationships like cars should undergo regular services to make sure they are still roadworthy zygmunt bauman, zygmunt bauman, zygmunt bauman quotes, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, rego's life quotes life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
But unlike currency, your focus on your ROI isn’t about quantity, so much as it is quality.

You may want a large social network, as the natural way of thinking is that knowing a lot of people can help you get a lot of things accomplished.

However the main caveat of that is while you may know of a lot of people, the relationships formed may not give you the strongest return on your investment.

And in this game called life, you’ve gotta learn to invest. So you get your feet wet, take a few losses in the beginning, and become wiser for the next time around.

I’ve noticed the older I get the more I prefer my social circle to be smaller.

i always notice the dysfunctional dynamic of human relationships because most places where you encounter it people are trying to pretend it isn't happening sophie hannah, sophie hannah, sophie hannah quotes, rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
Socialising with a lot of people is a great thing – don’t get me wrong. In socialising for friendships, romantic relationships, and even business, the more people you gain exposure to, the more you realise what type of people you want in your life.

And the more you hone in on what type of people you want in your life, the higher chance you have of your time being invested in higher quality relationships.

It’s like having an essential wardrobe – everything in it complements you well, is versatile, is made with care and dedication, and you enjoy wearing everything in it.

For friendships, you want to know that your friends have your back, that they really know you – understand you, respect your time, and have your best interest at heart – in general they uplift you.

one of the most beautiful qualities of true friendship is to understand and to be understood lucius annaeus seneca, lucius annaeus seneca, rego's life quotes, lucius annaeus seneca quotes, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
For romantic relationships, it’s the same thing, and an even bigger investment…more risks, more time. It’s one person getting to know you on an even deeper level, learning what your vulnerabilities are, learning what pushes your buttons, what makes you tick, and you coming to know the same about them.

I won't have a traditional marriage I don't find the value in that anymore but I am such a hopeless romantic and I really want love and I want a committed relationship so I am going to reinvent marriage for myself Halle berry quotes, rego's life quotes, halle berry, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
For family, again the same thing – but probably the most taken for granted relationships of all. It’s interesting because sometimes, in people having the underlying assumption that they are family, they also assume there’s nothing left to learn about  their family – which can actually make family relationships have a wider “knowledge gap” than when it comes to building friendships with people you’re just acquainted with.

In one way or another everybody has this experience in their lives The moment when you have to define your relationship to family and how your family's made you who you are whether you've spent your life running from your family or deeply connected to your family Alex kurtzman, rego's life quotes, alex kurtzman quotes, alex kurtzman, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
For business, the game is similar but totally different at the same time. It’s an entirely different animal, a totally different investment. Not every follower is your fan, and sometimes (like many entrepreneurs know) you’ve got to keep things close to your vest.

Business relationships shouldn’t just be focused around your customer either, but all your stakeholders – everyone inside and outside an organisation. Get the wrong people who only look out for their self-interests or what’s comfortable for them, and you’ve got toxic investments ready to slowly strangle the lifeline of your company or your milestones.

Western business people often don't get the importance of establishing human relationships Daniel goleman, rego's life quotes, daniel goleman, daniel goleman quotes, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
Overall I like to think of quality relationships as small miracles. The human race has seen and participated in a lot (and I do mean a lot) of war…and they still do.

If civilization is to survive we must cultivate the science of human relationships the ability of all peoples of all kinds to live together in the same world at peace Franklin D Roosevelt, rego's life, Franklin D Roosevelt quotes, Franklin D Roosevelt, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
History has shown us that conflict has the potential to match cooperation – and vice versa…but really, relationships – the art of caring about, understanding, knowing, and working with each other – are essential to human survival; and entirely dependent on people making the effort to get to know each other on a deeper, more quality level.

Unfortunately in the past (and still today), this way of thinking has been known to be deliberately fragmented, further dividing the human race by separating each other based on a skin colour or location.

So when you think about relationships, they’re really like small miracles. Socialising is an attraction of energy, but sometimes you can have energy vampires.

Quality relationships are literally an attraction of higher energies towards each other, which can form a bond that has the potential to be unbreakable – if said energies stay at a positive, higher level.

There's only so many variations on the basics of human relationships to me it's all about the detail and how you tell the story how you say I love you k. Flay, rego's life quotes, k flay quotes, k flay, Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Rego's Life Musings Episode 75 Relationships, Musings Episode 75 Relationships Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, relationships, friendships, romantic relationships, family relationships, business relationships, quality relationships, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, episodic musings, relationship quotes, friendship quotes, romantic relationship quotes, family quotes, life, food for thought, teamwork, time, time is an investment, sundays
And when you think about that and transfer it to something more “physical”, as people, we all wear different “masks”.

I wouldn’t say we act differently, but perform differently in different relationships.

A person can act the same, in regards to choosing to let their personality or good energy consistently shine through – but like sports, when you have to get sport specific, you work with different equipment, terrain, players, etc…you train differently.

You may still train hard, but you change your training, so you can tailor your performance for that particular sport, as you know different things can excel you in different ways.

And when you start thinking about relationships like sports teams and energy, you start to realise that you want players beside you who are in it to win it, but on a higher level.

You want players that know, and expect you to know, that by having your best interest at heart as well as theirs – that that thinking – pushes the whole team forward – it moves a whole team forward…and in moving a whole team forward, you can move mountains.

Think about it.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 74: Do You Deserve It…?

So I’m hoping everyone had an epic weekend. There are some thoughts that have been bouncing around in my head since the last episodic musing, in particular thoughts that revolve around what people define as being deserving of things.

You look on social media, and you listen to conversationswatch movies, listen to lyrics in songs…and I’ve realised something’s popping up more and more that I don’t entirely agree with. Alright here goes…

Musings Episode 74: Do You Deserve It?

don't let anyone ever make you feel like you don't deserve what you want 10 things i hate about you,10 things I hate about you quotes, rego's life quotes,, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Rego's Life Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, episodic musings, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, deserve quotes, do you deserve it quotes, you deserve it quotes, life, willpower, will power, free will, witt lowry, ollie music, ollie raps, witt lowry the ride, ollie product, witt lowry dreaming with our eyes open
It seems that people are starting to think it’s alright to gauge and dictate to other people whether they deserve something or not.

Now I mentioned in the previous episodic musing that when it comes to free will, no one has the right to really dictate to anyone what they should get out of life – Epictetus made this clear, and to paraphrase him once more, attempting to control or dictate another person’s free will takes tremendous effort as it goes against the natural law of things; things which are in our control, and things which are out of our control.

Is freedom anything else than the right to live as we wish nothing else epictetus, epictetus quotes, enchiridion quotes, rego's life quotes, epictetus, enchiridion, epictetus quotes rego's life, enchiridion quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Rego's Life Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, episodic musings, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, deserve quotes, do you deserve it quotes, you deserve it quotes, life, willpower, will power, free will, deserving quotes, deserve quotes rego's life
As a side note, if you haven’t read Epictectus’ “Enchiridion” – it’s basically a summarised version, a “manual” of his teaching of Stoicism – I highly recommend you pick it up from Amazon.

Seriously it cost less than coffee if you get the Dover Thrift Edition. Buy it.

Getting back to the subject, I saw something interesting the other day on Instagram. I didn’t screenshot it as it made me so disgusted it wasn’t worth a save in my phone, but ironically it pissed me off so bad I remember it clearly; so I’ll tell you what is said.

“Those who think they deserve it the most, usually don’t.”

…..Seriously?

What’s interesting is I’ve heard this once or twice in some songs I’ve stumbled across when discovering new music, and group conversations I’ve been involved in in the past.

And I wholeheartedly disagree with this.

Fair enough, there are some people who don’t put in any work for something they want; and there are people who are given everything they want without putting in any work, ergo feeling they deserve whatever they want.

But there are also those out there who bust their ass everyday – for months, years – grinding and meet rejection after rejection and know they deserve what they want.

It's a great great experience to finally get the reception that you know you rightfully deserve Kendrick Lamar, kendrick lamar quotes, rego's life quotes, Kendrick Lamar, deserving quotes, deserve quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Rego's Life Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, episodic musings, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur
And when I see people who state that people who think they deserve something don’t, it really gets under my skin, because when you think about it…it’s not a bold statement – it’s assumptive and asinine, a dash of ignorance, and just a sprinkle of arrogant.

When you take your attention away from mainstream – mainstream TV, movies, music, books, websites, everything…you begin to think about things differently…and when you think about it successful mainstream people don’t really elaborate on what their way up was like – not in a raw, real feel sense.

I’ve been listening to some less well-known music artists on YouTube lately when I get a chance and I’ve gotta say, some of their lyrics hit me like a brick wall.

They don’t talk about women, drugs, cars, sex, pumped up violence, all the regular bunk you hear on mainstream artists’ songs; but they talk about real things no one else wants to really discuss – things other artists probably know won’t sell as well:

Witt Lowry – The Ride

Ollie – Product

Witt Lowry – Dreaming With Our Eyes Open

And listening to the lyrics makes you realise, that the only person who has a right to ask you if you deserve it – if you deserve what you want – is you.

If you’re out there making the effort, changing your game plan when some things don’t work, learning new stuff to make other things work, and not losing sight of what it is you want – if what you want has substance – no one has a right to tell you that if you think you deserve it the most, you probably don’t.

That’s just bull.

If you work hard in real life people tend to get in your way either from inertia or prejudice and they stop you achieving things It's the worst thing about real life compared with sports where you generally get what you deserve if you're the fastest guy you win there are no other games being played Daley Thompson, Daley Thompson quotes, rego's life quotes, Daley Thompson, deserving quotes, deserve quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Rego's Life Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, episodic musings, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur
And anyone who has the audacity to make such a statement in my opinion is somebody who is consciously making an incompetent statement, has never even entertained the thought about considering what it’s like to walk in someone’s shoes, or simply thinks there’s not enough caviar to go around.

Having the gall enough to even make that statement, shows that someone is already spoilt rotten with a complete disregard for humanity.

Because there are three main paths that people who go after what they want and think they deserve end up taking:

The path of attaining what they deserve.
The path of settling for less than what they deserve (read: the path of becoming complacent).
The path of giving up on the FEELING of deserving what they’ve put effort into attaining (read: the path of becoming insecure).

Every day people settle for less than they deserve They are only partially living or at best living a partial life Every human being has the potential for greatness Bo Bennett, Bo Bennett quotes, rego's life quotes, Bo Bennett, deserving quotes, deserve quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Rego's Life Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, episodic musings, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur

At the end of the day it’s YOU who knows what efforts your putting in. It’s YOU who knows how much time you’ve put into going after your milestones. It’s YOU who knows what you’ve been through, what you’re going through, and where you want to go.

Don’t let anyone ever dictate that to you.

don't let anyone ever make you feel like you don't deserve what you want 10 things i hate about you,10 things I hate about you quotes, rego's life quotes,, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Rego's Life Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It, Musings Episode 74 Do You Deserve It Rego's Life, Rego's Life, regoslife, episodic musings, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, deserve quotes, do you deserve it quotes, you deserve it quotes, life, willpower, will power, free will

Because this deserves reiteration.

This is for the millennials, the 90s and the 80s kids.

You may not have the job security, the house, the car, the holidays, the balanced salary to living expense ratio, the opportunities your parents had when they were younger, you may not have all of that JUST YET

…and it may seem a little harder to acquire those things in today’s time…

…and well shit, it is, with the way multinationals are making application processes for people increasingly unnecessarily long and complex…

…bending people over and trying to get them to take it up the @ss with no lube, by offering far-less-than square deals…

….essentially looking at humans as actual resources, rather than people.

Funny thing is while others are trying to dictate to you whether or not you deserve something, if we stripped away modern civilisation and tried our hand at something like growing a garden, there is a higher and near concrete chance nature itself would effortlessly allow us to reap the harvest of the effort we put in, compared to some people these days.

Notice how the term “personnel department” changed to “human resources”? Yeah. Worse thing to ever happen…

…but one thing you do have is willpower, and the right to believe in yourself.

If you’re putting in the effort; getting those top grades in university; doing the daily grind as entrepreneur; or making an effort to make your salary work for you, for something you want that’s bigger than you, bigger than the life you have now; no one but YOU, has the right to ask…

Musings Episode 70: Balance…

It’s been a pretty unproductive weekend for me…not saying that time spent was wasted – it was indeed not.

…and somehow, I kind of needed this unproductivity. Or at least I think I did.

In saying that – yes, I do realize I blew off writing last week’s “For The Weekenders” – but don’t sweat it – this week’s is going to be a very special one, largely having to do with squeezing out the last bits of this awesome August weather we’ve been having.

For now though I wanna talk about balance. *shrugs* Let’s start.

Musings Episode 70: Balance….

Musings Episode 70 Balance, Rego's Life Musings Episode 70 Balance, Musings Episode 70 Balance Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings of a Quintessential Entrepreneur, balance, balance in life, how to balance your life, introspection, thoughts, life, chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on, keep calm and carry on, dealing with life, self-improvement, thoughts of a quintessential writer

This is more of a follow up really from last week’s post regarding slowing down, enjoying life, all that jazz – it’s parallel to it, but not right in line with it.

The kind of balance I’m talking about is the type where there are times in a person’s life where, whether they like it or not, they’ve gotta keep themselves balanced – especially if they’re going through stressful situations.

You’ve gotta take the time, energy, and mental strength, to try and steer yourself back on course – to remember what it is you’re doing, where it is your life is going, then assess and rearrange if things aren’t to your liking.

It can be hard as shit, if you’re not ready for it – or it can be insanely easy, if you know how to let go.

But letting go is the trickiest part. It’s a delicate distribution or, well, balance of saying “fuck it” while still making sure you’re headed in the right direction.

So many things in life can leave us distracted – forgetting that when it gets down to the nitty gritty, the bare bones, the core of it all – no matter how many things happen in life, you’ve still gotta remember that this is YOUR life, and that you have to care about WHERE it’s going and WHAT is happening to, or in it.

Musings Episode 70 Balance, Rego's Life Musings Episode 70 Balance, Musings Episode 70 Balance Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings of a Quintessential Entrepreneur, balance, balance in life, how to balance your life, introspection, thoughts, life, chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on, keep calm and carry on, dealing with life, self-improvement, thoughts of a quintessential writer, the best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life euripides rego's life balance quotes

This is the kind of balance I’m talking about.

You can’t beat yourself up about when you get off course either.

I mean, you can, to kind of give yourself a kick in the ass, get that motivation going again – but you’ve gotta be careful not to do it too much.

There are days when you can pull the covers over your head, pretty much sending the message to everything and everyone to “fuck off,” but you only wanna do that sparingly, just enough to give yourself a chance to exercise some introspection – time to pause and reflect.

You can go out there and hit the sauce, but don’t do it to the point where those demons you’ve had locked away deep inside of you get a chance to come out and fuck with you – that’s not the way to get rid of them…that shit’s like a pressure pot, you’ve gotta let it off slow.

You can even do the opposite of all the “bad” habits to knock you back onto your feet, like becoming a gym rat or going pro-health when it comes to food.

But everything in moderation – moderation is key.

Perhaps it seems like I’m rambling, maybe I am – just think of this as one of those sit down sessions you have with someone and you both just kind of get shit off your chest.

I’ve never really been a cynic – but then I wouldn’t say I’m 100% optimist either.

I just believe there are certain steps a person takes in order to carve out that ideal life they want.

Human kindness is big. Focus is big. Having goals to reach is huge. Compassion is huge. Remembering where you came from and giving yourself little self-assessments at least once a month is massive.

You’ve gotta think of your life like a canvas – you can paint whatever you want with it, with an array of colors, brushes, oils, and styles. If you’re not getting the gist of that – simply put, you can do whatever you want, because you’ve always got OPTIONS. Options, are what really allow balance.

When you realize this, though it may be challenging at first, in certain situations you’ll come to understand that it’s not the situation that defines you – but how you handle the situation.

Handle the situation with the right amount of balance, and you’ll weather the storm.

Focus too much on the situation though, as if it’s something that’s molded and created your life – and you’ll only end up fucking yourself over.

Introspection is key.

Understanding is key.

Mental discipline it critical.

Musings Episode 69: Slow Down…

I was out and about at the park last week, and while waiting for someone to arrive I was meeting, took the chance to have a seat and look up at the sky.

Man, what a sight. Blue skies, white clouds, perfect amount of sunshine.

The whole thing prompted me to gear this week’s episodic musing towards one thing: slowing down and really recognizing life.

Musings Episode 69: Slow Down…

Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Rego's Life Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Musings Episode 69 Slow Down Rego's Life, Rego's Life, slow down, what's the rush, enjoy life, how to enjoy life, life goes by pretty fast, ferris beuller, how to avoid the rat race, stop and smell the roses, you only live once, life, thoughts, clouds wallpaper

Often times so many people have their heads down looking at their smartphones, or looking straight ahead, rarely does anyone look up anymore.

But really, when you take the time to look up – that’s when time really stops.

So often day to day life feels like such a rush, yet so often it’s merely just an illusion held together by habitual tendencies and societal norms of the “rat race.”

Rarely do people realize life goes at a leisurely pace – but like the finishing line in Ferris Bueller, if we don’t stop and look around once in a while – we could easily miss it, as at the same time, it doesn’t wait for us.

I remember there was a time when I used to work crazy hours.

I mean, 12-14 hour days. It was insane.

Then I realized I wasn’t living at all – just existing.

I wasn’t living, because I wasn’t getting a chance to actually do anything with my days. It was so bad it was interfering with my social and family life.

This was a very short period in my life where for a moment, just for a moment, somehow I let myself lose sight of the vision and get into a “rut.”

Hey – I’m not perfect – even I lose sight sometimes – but it’s all a part of keeping yourself on course.

Fortunately I woke up and realised it – in ample enough time to get back to what matters most – friends, family, and actually enjoying your life.

Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Rego's Life Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Musings Episode 69 Slow Down Rego's Life, Rego's Life, slow down, what's the rush, enjoy life, how to enjoy life, life goes by pretty fast, ferris beuller, how to avoid the rat race, stop and smell the roses, you only live once, life, thoughts
Aside from the instance of waiting on my friend I managed to stumble across an old movie in my collection as well (don’t judge me), “The Devil Wears Prada.”

I’d not watched it in years but decided to give it a look and by the end of it realized just how much that movie drove home the exact point I’m making in this post now.

Slowing down and not rushing gives you a chance to actually assess your life moment by moment, while enjoying it day to day.

Keep in mind, slowing down doesn’t mean becoming lazy – but instead just taking the time to notice the world around you, compared to getting so caught up in the daily routine of making/creating money and any other repetitive task.

It’s all about working to live, not the other way around…and frankly, if anyone told you we’re in this life the just waste it away 8-9 hours a day at a desk, that person deserves a slap.

Humans are so individual and are given so much free will, it’s a wonder why so few stop to take the time to enjoy that power they have.

I’d say the “rush” of daily life starts with the mind though – that gnawing feeling of always being busy with something or having something you’ve gotta do before a certain time, the nervousness of wondering if there’s anything you’ve forgotten, left out, didn’t think about.

The moment you give yourself a chance to STOP thinking – is the moment you BEGIN thinking about everything that actually matters.

Then you realize…life isn’t as busy as it seems.

It’s not as hectic as you think it is.

…and it doesn’t have to be as crazy as everyone believes it should be.

Life is about slowing down, understanding your priorities, acting on what matters most to you, cooperating with other people who have your best interest, exercising human kindness, and ENJOYING all this world has to offer.

Once your start appreciating the simpler things in life, the rest comes easy.

I guarantee it.

Hope everyone’s had a great weekend…

Musings Episode 66: Introspection…

So apparently, this is my 200th post.

WOO.

Life has been very interesting, over the past month or so. In going through a bit of writer’s burnout, though it has disrupted my work flow, it’s also given me time to really just sit back and think on a few things. Think on nothing, but think on everything. That sort of grey area where you have everything and nothing figured out at the same time.

At the moment, I’m more of the latter than the former.

Musings Episode 66 Introspection, Rego's Life Musings Episode 66 Introspection, Rego's Life Musings Episode 66 Introspection, Rego's Life, introspection, life, thoughts, regoslife, everything, nothing, emotion, chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on, laugh, humor

At the moment, I’m more wrapped up in avoiding stress as much as possible and finding everything and anything that’s constructive to keep me in a good mood.

Sometimes it’s a bit of a task – but really, times like these are moments when you can actually grade yourself on how well you cope with life.

Eventually, you just get to a point where you’re fucking tired.

Tired of stressing out, tired of focusing on the negative, tired of concerning yourself with solutions…tired of worrying, tired of having highs and lows – just, tired.

I’ve been told before by many I have a way with words – something I pride myself in.

I enjoy helping people find solutions and apparently judging by past experience aren’t too shabby at giving someone a pep talk to make them feel better.

….but what happens when the motivator needs motivation?

What happens when the person who talks everyone else up needs a pep talk themselves?

I’m slowly starting to acknowledge not all the time do I actually take the time to stop and sort my own wandering thoughts out, and understand that can be an unhealthy habit – probably why the writer’s burnout happened in the first place.

It’s been a while since I’ve properly just stopped everything and checked under my own mind’s hood to make sure the engine’s still in check – hence now, neglect has that “check engine” light flashing.

But once it’s all sorted out, everything will be running like new again – a person can go through these moments and think it’s the end of the world, when in fact it really is just a moment that’ll soon pass.

Kind of reminds me of the adage “this too shall pass.”

After a while you realize it – whatever’s going on – a mental block, a situation, an argument, even your own insecurities or thoughts running wild – it all comes to an end.

Eventually, you just get so tired of dwelling you really don’t give a fuck anymore.

Eventually, instead of doing what so many others are expected to do under stress, sometimes the best thing is to just laugh or chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on.

Why?

Because at that moment, it’s the only thing that makes sense to do.

Be kind to yourself by being kind to your body and your mind – don’t stress. You’ll only make yourself sick – take some time out to really get to know you, and eventually nothing else will matter.

You’ll find yourself not worrying about outcomes or reactions, others opinions or even next week – you’ll learn to filter.

Keep focusing on sorting your own self out, focusing on what you want, and nothing else. Sort yourself out first, and you can help sort out others after.

Take a little time to listen to who matters most – you.

One more thing – I know I’ve been slack on the For The Weekenders posts – bear with me – there’s a pretty awesome one coming your way this Thursday. Promise.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 63: Time…

…..I know ironic title right? Albeit this one being up late, I wanted to share some thoughts about time.

In the past it’s always been stressed how important time is, how time is money and money is time, how time is more than just time but an investment, and so on.

But time is also a sort of one way road – or more accurately string of bridges. What do I mean? Well…read on.

Musings Episode 63: Time…

Musings Episode 63 Time, Rego's Life Musings Episode 63 Time, Musings Episode 63 Time Rego's Life, Rego's Life, life, thought, time, emotion, bridges burned, don't waste time, invest your time wisely, steve jobs quotes, time quotes, life quotes

The reason I say time is a “string” of bridges is due to the fact that every decision or action we take in life is something that takes up time – and once it’s done there’s really no looking back.

This is why you always hear those little classic quotes that encourage you to leave the “what ifs” out of your life, and are constantly reminding you that without change you’ll never grow.

Change is intrinsically linked with time – anything or anyone that changes invests a certain amount of time in doing so – it all takes time and a willingness to do so.

Scars heal over time or are forgotten.

Health is restored (or changes) over time and is improved.

Success happens over time and inevitably changes or improves lifestyle.

Every single thing you do is linked with time.

Each decision you make alters something in the future.

I wouldn’t say there’s no going back, but as far as human intelligence is concerned there’s also no reversal of time – no “turning back the clock.” Or at least humans haven’t figured out how to yet…

Hang on a minute – that last bit sounded really “definite” and realistic – let me clarify.

your time is limited steve jobs quote rego's life quotes time quotes, Musings Episode 63 Time, Rego's Life Musings Episode 63 Time, Musings Episode 63 Time Rego's Life, Rego's Life, life, thought, time, emotion, bridges burned, don't waste time, invest your time wisely, steve jobs quotes, time quotes, life quotes

In other words, there are decisions people make and characters people mold that can always be changed or improved, but as far as undoing certain things the change that was already done will always be there as a memory – or a lesson.

This can range from sticking together with family, changing careers, getting married, or joining a sport.

Even if we undo those said changes, as far as time is concerned they happened and are now imprinted as a memory – some forget, some always remember.

But like an arrow released from the bend of the bow, time is spent the same way – once it’s gone, it’s gone. Like a bridge burnt immediately after you’ve driven over it, there’s no getting it back.

You can rebuild the bridge.

You can reload the bow.

But the original bridge burnt or the first arrow spent can’t be taken back.

This is why throughout my life I’ve always been considerably careful about who I associate with, what actions I take, what memories I make…basically how I invest my time.

Even writing everyday for this blog and the official site is an investment of time that’s made.

when i give you my time i'm giving you a portion of my life that i will never get back so don't waste it rego's life quotes time quotes, Musings Episode 63 Time, Rego's Life Musings Episode 63 Time, Musings Episode 63 Time Rego's Life, Rego's Life, life, thought, time, emotion, bridges burned, don't waste time, invest your time wisely, steve jobs quotes, time quotes, life quotes

…it’s quite healthy to do so, being careful is. Not pessimistic – just careful. Don’t misinterpret what you just read as choosing to live in a sheltered environment – but the same way eating healthy and exercising lead to a great looking, healthy body, is the same way being in healthy environments, associating with positive (and like minded) people who have your best interest at heart, and doing what you really want to do in life, increases your positive yield on time spent.

So just remember, your time is precious – and just like how there are some stores that you can’t get a refund at after spending money, so goes the same with your time…ergo choose how you “spend” it wisely.

Just a little inspiration to kick off your week. 😉

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 62: Keep Your Head Up…

Hey everyone, I know this one’s up super late, so I’m gonna be honest. At the moment I’m going through some pretty heavy stuff, so really just trying to keep pushing forward and move positively from day to day in life.

Usually because of the premise of this blog I try NOT to focus on what’s going on in my life and more about thoughts, lessons, and awesome experiences, but I thought my dedicated readers at least deserved an explanation as to why I’ve been sort of on and off when it comes to posting on time.

Anyway, this week’s musing just thought I’d get a few things off my chest and encourage any of you who may be going through difficult situations to hang tight and know that you’re never too tired to go back into battle. Ready? Armor up…

Musings Episode 62: Keep Your Head Up…

Everyone, and I do mean everyone at some point (actually, at times multiple points) has some rough patches in their lives they go through. Everyone copes differently with these moments, depending on the person.

The main thing is that through it all, no matter how many times you’ve fought, how many battles you’ve been through, or how long they’ve lasted, the main thing to remember is to ALWAYS keep your head up.

There may be moments when you’re discouraged, beaten down, and almost feel like giving up. It’s in these moments that you’ve gotta remember you’re strong enough to overcome whatever it is you’re going through – you’re strong enough to take it on head on and come out victor in the end.

Musings Episode 62 Keep Your Head Up, Rego's Life Musings Episode 62 Keep Your Head Up, Musings Episode 62 Keep Your Head Up Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Optimism, Keep Your Head Up, positive quotes, stay positive, positivity, life, thoughts, good vibes, episodic musings

It’s absolutely critical you think this way, because like a child who grows up to be an adult, in difficult times optimism can often slip away and become lost.

It’s absolutely critical you hold onto that part of your childhood where optimism, innocence, and undying relentlessness keeps you pushing forward and persevering.

The only way children come to believe in Santa Claus is through these tools.

It’s the thought process we obtain as we get older that causes us to “stop believing” – stop hoping, stop anticipating the good, stop getting excited.

Sometimes, growing up can be one of the worst things to happen, depending on how you take it.

Or it can be the greatest – it all lies in whether or not you choose to accept or reject the majority’s thought process of how you should look at or come to accept situations, people, and experiences in life.

So stay true to being yourself – and remember, no matter what happens, it shall soon pass – and you’ll overcome it, find a way around it, or through it, the way YOU want to.

The only two things.people that have control over your life, is YOU, and the higher force that created you – the creator, universe, Adonai, energy & matter, mother nature, whatever you wanna call it.

Those are the ONLY two. Other than that, no one, and I do mean NO ONE, has the right to DICTATE what turn your life is supposed to take. No one has the right to control your destiny but YOU.

Let someone do that to you and you’ve officially let someone take your power.

No matter what happens, keep your head up…

As always…

Stay awesome.
