Musings Episode 51: Capture The Moment…

Plans today incline me to get out there and capture some moments with the ol’ Canon camera. Days like these allow me to wind down from work and the company. Capturing moments in time through photography is more important than a person actually realizes.

I’ve had this camera going on about 6 years now and can honestly say there was a point in time where going anywhere without it was incomprehensible. True, there are some moments that are just so timeless, so beautiful they’re not meant to be captured and framed – but then there are those moments that we look back on flipping through a photo album and review our own moments in “history.”

Come to think of it, I’m not really sure if people still print photos and put them in albums. Though I do use a digital camera in today’s modern time, the feeling of printing out the photos and being able to touch them enables a person to connect with that moment, even years down the road.

Yet nowadays I wonder if people really think about that. If they really think of the impact a photo actually has, when it’s not on their computer screen, in their Facebook albums, or posted up on Instagram.

Hashtagging photos is great and all, though there are certain moments in time you don’t want to share with the world; but instead keep them special and significant, known to only yourself, friends, family, S.O., or whoever else you were with at that exact time.

art, capture the moment, episodic musings, History, Musings Episode 51 Capture The Moment, photography, Rego's Life Musings Episode 51 Capture The Moment, Regos Life, regoslife, seize the moment

Sometimes you just want it to be that moment YOU remember, and not turn something that special into a popularity contest.

Really when you think about it, the same way history books were once written, a photograph is a way of notating your own history. The same way a blog or “diary” (though I never could understand those things) reflect moments past, and a video camera records things said and actions done.

Yet it’s something about a photograph that’s different than writing or recording. It’s the fact that quite literally, a second (or even milisecond) of time has been frozen, captured.

An exact moment, where once wishing you could see it again is made possible, whether it’s that time you were on holiday or that person you used to hang out with. It’s a way of tracking the person you used to be, and the person you’ve become.

art, capture the moment, episodic musings, History, Musings Episode 51 Capture The Moment, photography, Rego's Life Musings Episode 51 Capture The Moment, Regos Life, regoslife, seize the moment

You can determine and evaluate progression, regression, change, additions, and subtractions in your life…a sort of “road map” that time stamps the good, neutral, and bad; but mostly the good and neutral. Though the traditional method of photography is developing a negative in order to obtain the final result, rarely do you ever capture a moment of negativity out of intention.

I think people should take photos, capture the moment, every chance they get. It’s a good way of learning, growing, understanding. Photographs can show you certain things you may not have noticed in that moment; zooming in on details unsaid, air not read.

Every time you look at a photograph, something new should be learned from it. It’s a way of pressing “pause,” and no matter how many years have passed, allowing your memory to press “play,” and resume that memory from where it left off.

It’s a way of reliving a happy moment, even when you yourself aren’t feeling too happy.

Think on that…I’m off to go capture some moments. 😉

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 50: Wants vs. Needs…

I want to share something very special with you all today…and it has to do with wants and needs.

Doing some studying over the weekend that mostly revolved around finances and financial prosperity, I’d like to stress something I’ve mentioned in previous episodic musings, but probably never touched on or explained with the angle I’m about to give now.

Read carefully as I really want everyone to understand this – it’ll help significantly in clearing up some “fuzzy” logic that’s got most people thinking about money all wrong. Let’s get started…

Wants vs. Needs…

wants and needs are equally important rego's life, musings episode 50 needs vs. wants, rego's life, regos life, regos life, rego's life musings episode 50 needs vs wants, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, the difference between needs and wants, need vs want, wants vs needs, want vs need, needs vs want, need vs want quotes, want vs need quotes

First off – in a nutshell, if someone asked you to draw the defining line between wants and needs, how would you start? What would you define as wants? Needs? It’s here many people are taught that wants and needs are complete, separate things – and here where some wires get crossed.

So when you think wants, you may think: boat, car, fancy house, new clothing, etc…

and when you think needs you may think: food, water, money, place to stay, job, clothes, etc…

A few of the examples above run parallel to each other (clothing, accommodation) – but often are split into two different categories.

Usually, the logic goes like this:

Having a place to stay is normal – needed.

…but desiring a nicer place to stay is a want – not needed.

Having clothing to walk around in is a need, most definitely.

…but looking at new clothing and desiring to buy them is a want. Not needed.

Let’s clarify one thing: No matter what, shelter (no matter how nice), clothing (no matter how new), and cars (no matter how recent), are all NEEDS. You cannot classify them as wants.

Saying they’re a want is like saying they’re OPTIONAL.

Another thing – wants and desires are different. This’ll be explained in tomorrow’s Make it Mondays post over at Rego’s Life official site.

Back to what we were talking about though…

musings episode 50 needs vs. wants, rego's life, regos life, regos life, rego's life musings episode 50 needs vs wants, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, the difference between needs and wants, need vs want, wants vs needs, want vs need, needs vs want, need vs want quotes, want vs need quotes

There are four essential needs we as humans have in life – basic/physical, everyday, lifetime, and spiritual.

Food is a need – it doesn’t matter if you eat it at a restaurant, or at home. If the body is hungry, it NEEDS to eat.

Shelter is a need – it doesn’t matter if it’s a penthouse or a trailer. Humans are not animals; a roof over your head is not a luxury.

Clothing is a need – it doesn’t matter if it’s 100% silk or 100% polyester, to preserve your dignity and to keep warm, the clothes on your back are essential.

Transportation is a need – rant all you want about global warming, CO2 emissions, etc, etc…whether you use public transport or you have your own vehicle, getting to and from a destination to get something accomplished is a NEED.

musings episode 50 needs vs. wants, rego's life, regos life, regos life, rego's life musings episode 50 needs vs wants, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, the difference between needs and wants, need vs want, wants vs needs, want vs need, needs vs want, need vs want quotes, want vs need quotes

Lastly and most importantly…taking the time out to do what makes you happy, is a NEED. It doesn’t matter if it’s reading a comic strip or travelling the world; doing a job you love or quitting your job to start a business; hanging out with friends or engaging in a sport; working out or writing poetry…

…whatever makes you happy, doing it is a NEED…not a want. It’s the most important need – a spiritual need. This is the most important thing so you can feel at peace with yourself, happy with yourself, FIRST – before anyone else.

Wants? Wants are simple. Leisure spending is a want – spending is a want in general…and it’s completely separate from putting money towards your needs.

Seeing something you like on display, jewelry, a new wallet, a new purse, that new watch you’ve been figuratively dying to get – those are wants.

Checking out that new lounge bar, going to see that new movie, playing pool with friends – all wants.

musings episode 50 needs vs. wants, rego's life, regos life, regos life, rego's life musings episode 50 needs vs wants, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, the difference between needs and wants, need vs want, wants vs needs, want vs need, needs vs want, need vs want quotes, want vs need quotes, rego's life episode 50 wants vs needs 1 playing pool wallpaper

Now the defining moment – the most important thing you need to know – something religion discourages, society says is hedonistic, and your grandma may say isn’t true:

Wanting is not a bad thing.

Needing is not just what you’ve been taught it is.

…and money? No matter how your try and analyze it, is absolutely CRITICAL, and was given the ability to be manifested from pure “imagination” to physical reality, in order to allow you to achieve both needs AND wants.

Like all things, moderation is key – balance is key. You have to make sure to balance all aspects of your life to live a fulfilling one.

Musings Episode 49: Energy…

Hey, hope everyone’s been having a great weekend and creating some new memories. I’m feeling a bit knackered (which I’d like to sort out), so this episodic musing will be short.

If there’s two things that are inevitably woven into the patterns of day to day life, it’s numbers and energy. Let’s focus on the latter.

if you want to find the secrets of the universe think in terms of energy frequency and vibration nikola tesla, energy, musings episode 49 energy, rego's life, rego's life quotes, energy quotes, how to increase energy, increase energy levels, increase energy, how to increase your energy, increasing energy, increase your energy, how to increase your energy level

Energy fuels a lot of different things, and starts with a thought. Energy fuels how you go about your day to day activities such as work, interactions with people, the way you feel towards certain things people say or do, and can even effect how you approach exercise and your usual workout.

Different energies can conflict with one another – positive and negative being the most general example. What’s convenient (and pretty cool) though is that you can change your energy, by doing different things. It’s not just coffee that can get a person energized. It doesn’t take energy drinks. It doesn’t even take energy pills.

I remember car trading days, 4 days a week worth of LOUD auctioneers, car fumes, the shouts of ringmen and dealers all around. No matter how much money, 5 hours straight of an auction chant at full blast (literally) has a tendency to make your ears ring. I used to practically LIVE off of energy drinks just to get through those mornings (waking up at 5:15 a.m. has never been my cup of tea).

energy, musings episode 49 energy, rego's life, rego's life quotes, energy quotes, how to increase energy, increase energy levels, increase energy, how to increase your energy, increasing energy, increase your energy, how to increase your energy level

What I didn’t realize is that the energy drinks actually did more harm than good. If anything after a while they were burning out my nervous system and depreciating my vitamin B levels, which had to be counteracted with supplemental daily doses of vitamin B in liquid or caplet form.

Finally, I quit the energy drinks. Started focusing more on alternative, natural ways of feeling the “pump.”

It took a while, but I realized that “pump” had nothing to do with caffeine, taurine, or any of that stuff. It has to do with thoughts you think, actions you take…and I realized I was bored. No, wait not bored – burnt out. As humans we’re meant to constantly evolve, and in that line of business, the plateau had been reached. It was time to evolve.

energy, musings episode 49 energy, rego's life, rego's life quotes, energy quotes, how to increase energy, increase energy levels, increase energy, how to increase your energy, increasing energy, increase your energy, how to increase your energy level

Start trying and learning new things and you’ll realize your energy levels increase naturally. Let’s put it into a fitness perspective: the reason most people get “discourage” or “tired” of fitness isn’t because it drains energy – on the contrary, it actually boosts energy levels and increases mental awareness.

The main reason is because their body is bored to tears of doing the same thing over and over, not being able to test its limits.

The thought of things that excite you, depress you, make you happy, sad, etc, all change energy levels. Even feeling challenged or taking on something new changes energy levels.

energy, You've done it before and you can do it now ralph marston, rego's life quotes, musings episode 49 energy, rego's life, rego's life quotes, energy quotes, how to increase energy, increase energy levels, increase energy, how to increase your energy, increasing energy, increase your energy, how to increase your energy level

A feeling of nervousness is an indicator of fear. Fear can stem from thinking you don’t know/aren’t familiar with a certain something. The only energy you’ll get from that is low energy.

A feeling of excitement can have the same physical feelings of nervousness, but a bit different. Excitement means you’re ready for something, you may not be familiar with it but you have a thought of confidence.

So really, thoughts are connected to feelings, and feelings connected to energy, all in respective order.

You think Monday is going to suck, so you wake up feeling down about it, and continue the day not feeling very energized, thinking you have to have coffee, that you think will make you feel better, thus boosting your energy levels.

See the process?

You go on a date, thinking about how the who thing’s going to play out, and you feel confident because you’ve been observant and have a game plan (player pun not intended), so you meet up with your date and have confident, excited, non-negative energy.

energy, musings episode 49 energy, rego's life, rego's life quotes, energy quotes, how to increase energy, increase energy levels, increase energy, how to increase your energy, increasing energy, increase your energy, how to increase your energy level

See the difference?

It starts with a thought…that continues to a feeling…and manifests in energy – which we’re all connected by.

You wouldn’t be half (I bet even a quarter) as excited about the thought of having a day tour of a funeral home than you would about having a day tour of a [insert your favorite thing to do here].

This is what makes concerts so epic, team sports so spirited, and the feeling of walking into a hospital somber and serious. It’s the overall energy of the collective people in the places.

Negative and positive energy can’t coincide in the same places. So remember to take care in who you associate with, what you listen to, read, and what you watch. Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday and has a kickass Monday.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 48: Quality vs. Quantity

I remember when I first read a particular quote of Oscar Wilde’s from his “The Picture of Dorian Gray” book…

nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life

…and how it felt realizing that this simple quote put everything friends and I have ever spit balled about into perfect explanation.

Often people brag about how much something costs them, or the name brand it is. Yet to question whether or not that said thing is quality or not is rarely ever acted upon.

Would you rather have something that’s “okay” and cost a lot of something else, or would you rather have something that’s well made, of value, without the “big” name brand association and price tag?

Would you rather have a lot of people you know, but not many you trust, or a few people you know, all of whom you can trust?

Would you rather have a lot of acquaintances, or a few genuine friends?

A friend of mine used to love buying Ralph Lauren for women. The cuts were perfect for her, as she was of slender profile, tall. Then something changed. She visited me after shopping one day and plopped down her bags. “Look at this! Tell me if you notice the difference.”

nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, oscar wilde, live a quality life, quality vs quantity, business and economy, Rego's Life

The price was the same but the quality changed significantly. The cuts became short and wide, uneven panels, and while most of the fabric remained the same, something was different that I couldn’t put my finger on.

“Umm,” I hesitated, “well, the cuts look different,” I continued putting one shirt up to her for comparison. “They’re shorter, for one…and wider.”

“That’s what I said!” she said frustrated.

Why was she frustrated? Because here she was, a once dedicated patron of the Ralph Lauren brand, and now she was finding that the brand she put so much trust in was slowly changing.

Keep in mind, in being tall and slender finding clothing that are well fitted is a task for her. She shopped at a few, very select places that accommodated her needs, and while Ralph Lauren had made excellent cuts in trousers and the like, something had changed for their shirts and blouses.

I myself know that Ralph Lauren makes many different excellent lines, from Black Label to Blue Label and more…

ralph lauren black label denim, nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, oscar wilde, live a quality life, quality vs quantity, business and economy, Rego's Life

…and she could’ve easily tried another line of theirs. But the particular convenience of walking into your regular Ralph Lauren store is something she very much enjoyed.

She could’ve very well shopped online or some other alternative, but what frustrated her the most was the fact that to a degree the brand’s quality factor had dropped, while the quantity factor in price remained the same.

…and this is where people are sometimes forced to choose, quality or quantity? Brand loyalty or going elsewhere to seek better?

quality over quantity steve jobs, nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, oscar wilde, live a quality life, quality vs quantity, business and economy, Rego's Life

This could be looked at in an opposite manner as well. Sometimes buying the cheapest isn’t always the best idea when you’re looking for something to last.

Being rather particular about what kinds of electronics I buy, and the shoes on my feet, the type of threads on my back and whether or not they’re made of natural resources or polyester, I’ve found myself lately getting more and more into organic cotton.

Researching an item before buying it is always a good idea. I remember a huge mistake made a while back. Usually, shopping online for sparring gear in general – isn’t a natural habit of mine. There’s a need to feel the gear, inspect the material, plus many other things.

But this was back when new to MMA and more of an avid fencer.

It occurred to me as a great idea to purchase focus mitts on the internet. Why not with all the positives. Great price – inexpensive. Huge mistake – HUGE. When they arrived, they were horrible. My sparring partner couldn’t use them properly. They were uncomfortable, hard as rocks, no proper wrist support and because of their lack of flexibility almost broke my sparring buddies elbows.

It was a purchase I regretted but had no one to blame but myself. The focus mitts were a “bargain” I thought. Like they say though, you get what you pay for sometimes.

quality focus on word, nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, oscar wilde, live a quality life, quality vs quantity, business and economy, Rego's Life

Then there are those other times where like magic you find quality and a decent price. You find VALUE.

This is the middle ground area. This used to be what a lot of companies offered their customers – value. Not “what’s the cheapest manufacturing cost” but “what’s the best value we can give to our customers, at a great price, and superior quality?”

Knowing the value of something is much different than knowing the price – guess that explains why I never was any good at that game “The Price is Right.”

When you start talking value, great value, you start seeing things a bit differently.

This means across the board. Materialistic items, experiences, relationships, and even thoughts.

nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, oscar wilde, live a quality life, quality vs quantity, business and economy, Rego's Life, 100 percent quality

It’s good to be rather selective of what you buy. Activities you partake in. People you associate with. Thoughts you think.

By taking the time to be selective, you’ll soon start realizing the difference between the amount of things you have, people you know, experiences you engage in, and thoughts you think, and the quality, the VALUE in each one of those things.

You’ll think twice before buying those pair of mass produced shoes – and realize you can contribute back to your community by buying from your local shoe maker for the same price.

You’ll think twice before getting into certain relationshipsplatonic or romantic – and analyze whether or not that particular person has the same outlook on life (negative/positive) as you or not.

associate yourself with people of good quality booker t washington, nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing oscare wilde, Rego's Life, musings episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, live the quality life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 48 Quality vs. Quantity, oscar wilde, live a quality life, quality vs quantity, business and economy, Rego's Life

You’ll think twice before engaging in certain activities – and think to yourself how that specific activity has an impact in your life.

Everything you do will become a conscious action, and in turn you’ll genuinely be giving yourself the quality lifestyle you’ve always talked about – instead of just listening to the dictations of society.

You’ll understand that it’s not just quality vs. quantity, but value as well.

As always…

Stay awesome. 😉

Musings Episode 47: Drugs…

Yeah….we’re gonna go there today.

drug use, drug overdose, illegal drugs, drug dependence, teenage drug use, drug problems, rego's life, musings episode 47 drugs, drug misuse, chemical formula of drugs,

While there are a lot of “highs” you can get in life – from extreme sports, to drinking (which, technically is also a drug), to exercise, to driving – one in particular is something that’s constantly in the news, on the internet, and on TV. There have been entire television shows (Breaking Bad or Weeds anyone?) made about it – drugs.

While I’m one for a drink every now and then, one thing I won’t touch are drugs.

Hang on – this isn’t gonna be some rant or lashing about “drugs are bad, you’re going to hell, blah blah blah,” no. I’d just like to share my opinion (and have you share yours by commenting/sharing below) on drugs.

Marijuana‘s slowly getting legalized – congrats to all those who were rooting for it.

drug use, drug overdose, illegal drugs, drug dependence, teenage drug use, drug problems, rego's life, musings episode 47 drugs, drug misuse, pot legalized

While I don’t give a rats arse either way, I am curious about one thing – why do it? Drugs I mean – not zeroing in on one specific narcotic directly.

I know, this is a touchy subject, but there are times when I meet people in my life and they ask “so do you wanna get high?”

…and this has included people who are both well off and not-so-well off alike.

The responses are usually “are you serious? EVERYONE gets high these days!” or “oh…you’re not into that – alright well…what I mean do you just not like it or…?”

Or my favorite “OOH damn, alright. I won’t say anything more.”

The curious look on their faces when I say “no thanks, I’m not into that stuff” is a look as if I’ve been living under a rock…

That look on their face when you say you don't do drugs, drug use, drug overdose, illegal drugs, drug dependence, teenage drug use, drug problems, rego's life, musings episode 47 drugs, drug misuse,

…and maybe I have been living under one in that aspect. But I like it under my little drug-free rock, if that’s what you’d like to call it…and find my solace in other things – travel, experiences, hookah, and yes, the occasional nightcap. I’ve even tried Kava at one point – though I’d say that just “cleanses” the stomach more than anything (vomit alert in 3…2…). There may have been once where in my travels I journeyed to Amsterdam and “gave it a go” – but it just wasn’t my thing.

I don’t care if other people do drugs – that’s their deal, I’m not going to shove a lecture down their throat. To each their own, this is why humans are given free will.

Enough of the back story though. What I really want to discuss is – why? Why do it? If you do it now and there are some reasons why, comment below letting me know.

More importantly, albeit things like pot being legalized in certain countries and states, when it isn’t legal why stick your neck out for it?

If you’ve studied psychology, one reason can be that usually what is inaccessible and restricted, is in return more desirable and sought after. So there’s one possibility.

psychology, drug use, drug overdose, illegal drugs, drug dependence, teenage drug use, drug problems, rego's life, musings episode 47 drugs, drug misuse,

But even getting hooked on pharmaceutical drugs (the biggest seller in the USA) has to be questioned.

The other possibility is according to science it enhances certain feelings and “unlocks” certain parts of the brain.

Another still could be people may just plain like that way drugs feel.

That’s not what irks me. What irks me is the addiction side of it. Addictions in general irk me – they show a sign of weakness and a belief a person has of themselves that they are unable to control certain aspects of him or herself – meaning they have given away a certain part of their free will voluntarily. I’m not just talking about drugs here either.

Drug addictions, alcohol addictions, shopping addictions, smoking addictions, the list could go on forever.

In my opinion addictions don’t exist but are in fact illusions and laziness on the person’s part in taking the time to control their thoughts, because quite honestly, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of ways to acquire the good FEELING in life.

this is your life, drug use, drug overdose, illegal drugs, drug dependence, teenage drug use, drug problems, rego's life, musings episode 47 drugs, drug misuse,

Feel free to agree to disagree with me.

By controlling your thoughts you can control your feelings, thus controlling your mood. One must find happiness within themselves before they truly know the meaning of it. The minute you understand this, is the minute you no longer look to outside sources to be in that constant state of “feel good” – and instead those outside sources just become an awesome accessory or enhancer.

Travel becomes more fun.

The simplest things you take appreciation in.

Hell, even just getting up in the morning and making coffee can turn enjoyable. It starts within, then exudes outward.

be happy

This is why I ask why do drugs. While many have told me they take you to another place or lower your inhibitions (alcohol can do the same thing), or even allow someone to see things differently, they can also separate two things – spirit from body. No, I’m not talking about death, so chill out.

I’m talking about disallowing your spirit to “drive” or interact with your body at full functionality. Basically lose control – the good kind of control. It’s the same way drinking too much can allow you to do that.

Why would someone want to cause that separation? Why would someone want to “escape” the very temple they’ve been given to guard and take care of?

More importantly, why risk it all for a high? Risking it all could mean for both the people in financially well off positions and not so well off positions.

drugs money image, drug use, drug overdose, illegal drugs, drug dependence, teenage drug use, drug problems, rego's life, musings episode 47 drugs, drug misuse,

Anyone remember Michael Vick? Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback? SNL did a “Really” section on him some years back…

While he wasn’t arrested for the incident and police claim no real evidence was found regarding the incident at the airport, though later in his career was charged with dog fighting and tested positive for drug use.

Now hang on – I’m not bashing anyone here but serious question – why fuck everything up when you’ve got good money in the bank? I could’ve given any example but I wanted one that has impact and a clear point of logic.

Why, with all that cash, would you A) potentially try to smuggle your stash in a plane when you have enough money to buy more and B) do crazy shit like dog fighting?

Why fuck up a lifestyle that you made for yourself at all? All that money could buy or allow you to experience so much more in life. Doing that type of stuff is completely counter intuitive and backwards.

word hard focus move forward

While many aspiring football players would figuratively kill for Vick’s previous fame and fortune, the guy showed complete lack of appreciation for the accomplishments and success he had gained…and for what? There’s so much more he could’ve constructively accomplished.

This just goes to show that the mentality, the thought process was already within him. His way of thinking was there, even if subconsciously, the whole time. He chose to accept it.

This is what I mean when I say many still look for an outside experience to acquire that good feeling.

I’m not taking a shot at the financially successful either – the same goes for people who aren’t so well off and blow all their money on alcohol or drugs, then complain about how they’re always broke.

empty wallet

Why man?

That’s just dropping the ball on maintaining a steady lifestyle.

…and saying someone does it to get away from the stresses of life or hardships is a blatant cop-out. Don’t like your life? Change it.

People don’t change because they’re under any sort of threat or duress. They change because they see something that shows them their life is valuable and deserving enough to move forward and create a life that’s really worth living.

The same way people change their lives to accommodate the expense of drugs, alcohol, or even pharmaceutical addiction, is the same way they can change their lives to accommodate the expense of thinking up, creating, and investing in a better life of meeting new people, seeing new places, taking part in new (sober) activities – could even be painting or some shit.

samuel l jackson shitty problems birds meme

Maybe this is what stems overdoses, chasing after that good feeling. I don’t know…but I do know that there are many more things to get high on. You shouldn’t have to chase. You can get high on life, if you know how to align your thoughts a certain way. The main thing is, you’re ALIVE, man.

So many people take that for granted. Living. Breathing. Seeing. Hearing. Tasting. Being warm. Eating. Driving. Being able to exercise. Being educated. Playing on a team. Having hot water. Having proper sewage systems. Having A/C. Going to restaurants. Having a passport. Having clean drinking water. Having quality clothing on your back. Having decent shoes.

…and you choose to get high???

There’s so much to be thankful for in everyday life, yet many don’t even really think of it because it’s always been there. Many don’t get high on LIFE, because they take it for granted.

Funnily enough, one of my many favorite movies is Scarface.

Not because the guy rose to the top due of blood money and drugs. In fact it pissed me off when he touched what he sold. But I like the film because of one thing the character believed in…

THE WORLD IS YOURS WALLPAPER, scarface, the world is yours, al pacino

All you’ve gotta do is realize it, then get to work on creating your own life.

Happiness doesn’t come from external sources – external sources are mere enhancers. Experiences are momentary and memorable. Happiness starts within – and no, I don’t believe that bullshit mantra of being happy and poor. It’s a fucking sin in my book.

if you are born poor bill gates

I also don’t believe that bullshit mantra of praying/hoping/wishing for something yet taking no action towards acquiring it. The 1%ers you see today did not sit around waiting for their fortune to plop into their lap…they went after it, and made sure to not destroy it once acquiring it.

There is something that Emo Phillips also said but credit has been given to Al Pacino. That’s not the point though. The point is the meaning you can draw from it.

i asked god for a bike but i know god doesn't work that way so i stole a bike and asked for forgiveness

…he wasn’t saying go out and steal, but instead go after what you want. Don’t get distracted by all the bullshit. Why? Because…

The world is yours.

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 46: The Art of Discipline…

A few episodic musings back I talked on and shared thoughts about strength training and how it’s not just a physical thing, but a mental one too.

I’d like to elaborate a bit more on that and discuss the additional benefits of the disciplinary aspect.

mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success, the distance between your dreams and reality is called discipline

There’s a great audio I’ve been listening to by Abraham Hicks this past week and I must say, it really addresses the subject of human beings and how we deserve the life we desire.

The problem is so many people are caught up on their current realities they don’t take the time and effort to think up and really work towards getting a “new reality.” Many lack the mental discipline.

While Abraham notates on a consistent basis it’s not about “making” anything happen or “ramming” things into place, they do make clear that in order to change your current (or any given) situation, you absolutely MUST take control of your thoughts – albeit many people think they have no control over such things, and that in fact their thoughts can control them.

Truth is, people DO have control over their thoughts, contrary to what society teaches. It just takes a bit of will power.

self-discipline begins with napoleon hill, mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success

The same way someone wants their business to succeed is the same way you should have a desire to have control over your thoughts…because thoughts can be dangerous.

They can trigger emotion, and if focused on too long can turn your entire day upside down. This is what makes movies, television shows, and songs so powerful. It’s a thought one can relate to that evokes an emotion…sometimes this can be used for good, like a good comedy or action film…and other times it can just clutter your mind with junk, like horror films (sorry horror movie enthusiasts).

The same way I question why people focus on negativity, is the same way I question why people would possibly want to take things in their ear and eye gates that leave them with nothing but negative feelings, including but not limited to fear, paranoia, sadness, anger, loneliness, etc…the list continues.

whenever a negative thought norman vincent peale, mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success

If it’s something that doesn’t help you in adding to that good feeling vibe or positive state of mind, it’s a waste of time and not helping you in any way.

The key to changing your current reality is discipline in the sense that you have to make it your business to keep yourself on a “high flying disc,” and shy away from negativity. Things like arguments, work gossip, and idle talk are huge distractions, and only accomplish one thing – setting your mental state out of whack and getting your mind off more important things.

Focusing on negativity only breeds more negativity, the same way hate breeds hate and talking about sickness attracts sickness.

Everyday, you want to make the conscious decision to engage as much as possible in things that make YOU feel good. It could be listening to a song you like, reading a good book, seeing a good movie, or interacting with other people who exude that positive vibe you’re constantly after.

a happy life is just a string of happy moments abraham hicks, mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success

The same way it’s not your job to save the world, it’s not your job to make everyone else happy. You can be considerate and caring for your fellow man/woman, but you must still make it a priority to be in pursuit of your own happiness as well.

Will Smith‘s movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” portrays this perfectly, as throughout the film you constantly see Smith’s character doing his utmost to keep himself from going into a state of panic and dismay in his given situation.

It starts with a thought. Then that thought leads to a feeling…and that feeling leads to an action. Pick which thoughts you want to think and you can pick which feelings you want to have. Pick which feelings you want to feel and you can pick which actions you want to take. Pick which actions you want to take and you can start turning your current “NOW” into whatever you will it to be.

mental discipline, what is happiness, what is motivation, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 46 The Art of Discipline, Abraham Hicks, Thought, Pursuit of Happyness, Will Smith, Abraham, Rego, success, you have control over three things sonya friedman

This is why they say thoughts are like seeds.

Depending on how much you water them, they can grow or they can wilter and die. Choose which thoughts you want to grow – and your success will grow in direct and parallel fashion.

All it takes is discipline. The same way you discipline yourself to get up and go to that job everyday. Or take care of those kids you have. Or pay those bills you have. If you can do this for everyday actions, why not do this for everyday thoughts – which in fact control your everyday actions? Food for thought…

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 45: Show Some Cooperation, Life Isn’t Hard…

I haven’t watched TV in years, but lately I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries and what not on Netflix, mostly regarding animals.

One in particular most recently was about blue fin tuna, and the rising problem about them almost becoming extinct due to the mass craze for sushi.

thoughts about life, thoughts on life, thoughts for life, good thoughts about life, deep thoughts about life, thoughts of life, rego's life, musings episode 45 show some cooperation life's not hard, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, thoughts

Really when you think about it, this ties in a lot with cooperation. Cooperation from mankind, and the conflict of mankind with nature.

Nature has a kind of “autopilot” feature when it comes to things. In each animal there’s instilled a certain coding, where they kind of know what they have to carry out at birth. Sure, their parents teach them as you teach your kids – but they learn at a much faster rate, and they’re kicked from their parents “nest” at a much younger age. Long story short…the parents don’t ever have to worry about dishing out cash for a kid’s college education.

They learn independence.

They go on instinct, learn to fight, and have some type of “defence” mechanism built-in for predators or any kind of danger.

They’re taught to survive.

thoughts about life, thoughts on life, thoughts for life, good thoughts about life, deep thoughts about life, thoughts of life, rego's life, musings episode 45 show some cooperation life's not hard, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, thoughts, survive wallpaper

They have no currency, no government or laws of man, nothing but nature’s laws.

The same way we have families and groups of friends, animals have packs and groups they travel in.

The only difference is somehow, it seems more and more animals have their shit together more than humans…albeit humans being gifted with free will.

Humans are notated as being at the top of the food chain – we may not be as fast as the cheetah or as clever or sharp as the bluefin tuna, but we’re supposed to be the most intelligent creatures on earth.

In saying that – you seriously have to wonder why the heck the bluefin tuna is almost extinct – actually you don’t, it all boils down to one thing – a little thing called “moderation.”

I keep saying this – you can do anything, drink anything, and eat anything as long as it’s in moderation.

Moderation ties in a lot with cooperation.

thoughts about life, thoughts on life, thoughts for life, good thoughts about life, deep thoughts about life, thoughts of life, rego's life, musings episode 45 show some cooperation life's not hard, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, thoughts,The only thing that will redeem mankind

There was a time before the global market burst open at the seams, where produce was only available in season, meat was only sold according to optimal growth and breeding times, and seafood was only available dependent upon how skilled the fisherman was.

It made things a little more “hard to get” but it allowed nature to run its course and “refresh” itself so to speak for another work cycle – the same way humans like to “refresh” themselves over the weekend or on their days off after working 40 odd hours a week.

Heck, there was even a time when farmers knew to let the land “rest” for a few years before laying seed again, and not growing just any old seed they’re paid to [for a short-term buck] in order to avoid long-term issues.

It was the purest form of cooperation in the most basic sense.

These days it seems that’s all gone out the window. Or going. Your choice of words.

Humans aren’t cooperating with nature, and what’s worse is nor are they cooperating with each other.

thoughts about life, The keystone of successful business is cooperation, thoughts on life, thoughts for life, good thoughts about life, deep thoughts about life, thoughts of life, rego's life, musings episode 45 show some cooperation life's not hard, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, thoughts

I’ve been at this lifestyle game for so long now that the same way a “gym rat” can’t comprehend why people don’t work out and stay fit, my brain can’t comprehend why it’s so hard for the general public to understand the gravity of the situation in regard to taking small steps to make life easier.

Let’s be clear here – I’m no activist. You won’t find me tree hugging or laying down in front of a wrecking ball to save a historical building – I’m not one for extremism…I don’t think it’s my job to save the world, and I don’t think it’s my job to shift each individual’s way of thinking. I offer the advice but it’s up to you to take it.

I do believe though that people could pick up some better habits, and maybe take care of mother nature the same way she takes care of us.

I do believe people could take small everyday steps to make the world a better place.

As for everyone’s way of thinking, I do believe that it doesn’t hurt to offer a new way of looking at things, hence why I started this blog along with my other two websites. I’m not here to shove anything down anyone’s throat – if I wanted that, I’d get into the stock market.

stock market wallpaper, thoughts about life, thoughts on life, thoughts for life, good thoughts about life, deep thoughts about life, thoughts of life, rego's life, musings episode 45 show some cooperation life's not hard, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, thoughts

I will say people can do a bit better as human beings – the easiest way to do that is cooperation…the funny thing about cooperation is though, it’s gone about in all the wrong way today.

There’s a certain passive aggressiveness that’s developed in some countries in today’s modern time…cooperation is carried out when it shouldn’t be, people take answers and don’t ask questions, the art of time being taken out to relate to another person has practically gone out the window.

Life doesn’t have to be hard – in fact, life isn’t hard.

Time is changing. Energy is changing. You have animals on different levels of the food chain getting along with each other – you read about the stories in the news more and more.

Yet more and more humans are creating their own levels in the food chain amongst their own race – the human race.

Life isn’t hard.

There was a time when people cooperated, vulnerabilities were known but not exploited, and simple consideration and relation for your fellow-man was well-known.

There was also a time when people were barbaric, ruthless, exploitative, and complete disregard for another human being was considered normal all because of the color of someone else’s skin.

Now there’s the issues of right to self-defence. In my opinion? Everyone should have a right to self-defence.

Issues of sexuality, gender identification, etc, etc. In my opinion? What do I care? It’s your life, live it how you want to, just be fucking HAPPY.

Why must the majority dictate? Why can’t people agree to disagree?

Put simply, both the good and the bad sides have been seen with humans.

People have seen all aspects. Humans will always be ever evolving. There’s no changing that.

People have seen and documented enough history to learn that hate breeds hate, love takes courage, and war is a business – just like religion and politics.

Yet there’s a certain laziness that’s developed where although many have seen and learnt about these things, they still refuse to pull their own weight.

They want to state their own opinions, or one better they join the band wagon on other opinions, but rarely anymore do people take the time out to actually THINK on WHY their opinion is that – or why their thinking is that.

Sometimes, negativity is so…pointless. It’s such a waste of space, time and energy…but it still has a purpose.

I know that in order to know the good, you must know the bad. In order to know what you do want, you have to come to know what you don’t.

Negativity is a TOOL – that is supposed to be used for balance…but really, once you understand why it’s there, why use it? Life is all about going after that GOOD FEELING, creating, sharing.

Why is it there are so many blogs, articles, stories, tv shows, movies, etc, etc that focus on negative shit? It’s like a curtain – you just get wrapped up in that shit and then it’s hard to see the light…you lose both sight and track of your original purpose here on earth – to be HAPPY. To COOPERATE with your fellow-man.

I’m not saying tolerate shit – but seriously, people need to really assess situations and stand up for what’s RIGHT to stand up for, in their own lives. It’s about picking your battles – and not just picking the ones you think you can win.

It’s about principle. Consideration. Looking at all the angles….and like I keep saying, cooperation.

It’s no wonder the aliens fly right past us.

The animal kingdom has their shit together more than the human race.

This isn’t a rant…but this needs to be said. I just thoroughly believe that life doesn’t have to be hard.

People don’t have to be underpaid.

They don’t have to be bullied.

They don’t have to just “accept things” because that’s the way they are. I fucking hate that saying “it is what is is”…no. It’s NOT. It’s what YOU MAKE IT.

Stop striving for mediocrity.

Only go against the grain WHEN IT’S VALID.

Stop fussing over stupid shit.

Look at the bigger picture.

Focus on your own LIFE – reincarnation or not the one you’re living is the ONLY ONE YOU HAVE NOW.

and for fuck’s sake…stop giving each other such a hard time.

The human race is embarrassing themselves.

Again I say, this isn’t a rant…but this needs to be said.

We can be better.

People have intelligence.

They have governments, currency, law, infrastructure, medicine, modern technology, and FREE WILL…yet STILL they’re not using all this awesomeness EFFECTIVELY and to its maximum potential? You’ve gotta be kidding me.

As a race, humans have got to do better than that.

Come on…let’s tighten up.

Hope everyone’s having an awesome Sunday.

Musings Episode 44: Walter Mitty Had it Right…

Anyone seen the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty?

If you haven’t yet….GOOO.

Seriously. I mean it. Book your tickets here and run out of the house to go see it.

What I thought to be a remake of the original 1947 version (which according to IMDB it seems it was), this movie focuses on EXACTLY what I have been writing about ever since I started this blog…and of all the movies I’ve seen, just jumped to #1 in my rating book, right up there with The Wolf of Wall Street.

Ben Stiller both directed and produced this film – and due to those reasons I believe this gave him TREMENDOUS freedom in creating/becoming his character the way HE wanted Mitty to be seen. By far the best acting I’ve seen from him to date. Stiller, you’re awesome.

The whole premise of the movie is simple – it’s about an ordinary guy who’s got a knack for developing negatives for LIFE magazine. He’s been at the game for 16 years now and really knows his stuff – but ironically, though developing thousands and thousands of photos of numerous places around the world…has never actually gone a single place that’s mentionable or interesting himself.

Put simply – Walter (Stiller) has never lived LIFE. Because of the fact his life is so repetitive, over the years Walter has increasingly become more and more active in day dreaming or “zoning out,” often beyond his control – a clear sign the poor bastard’s mind can’t even come to terms with his monotonous day to day life.

walter mitty, the secret life of walter mitty, secret life of walter mitty, walter mitty movie, walter mitty summary, walter mitty story walter mitty movie, life of walter mitty, rego's life, musings episode 44 walter mitty had it right

Until one day, he’s forced to get out there and explore – not for himself – but to save his job.

The movie takes a minute or so to pick up and gain momentum – but the ending leaves you literally FEELING every single moment…something that rarely happens these days unless it’s a good action film (in my opinion).

All in all it’s a great film that anyone can go and see.

It really hits home on important issues like how people don’t just need to – but deserve to live the life they desire – and how quickly and often the day to day activities that have been built into the majority of society’s routine often make people forget that they’ve gotta CREATE a life – and not just live one.

What’s the difference between creating and living a life? Find out more in a “Make it Mondays” post I wrote on my official site.

Mitty is portrayed in flawless fashion – someone who at first when pondering over the “mission” thinks “yeah right” or “it’s impossible,” non-chalantly brushing it off until his office crush encourages him bit by bit.

Even when he makes it to Greenland, Mitty still has extreme reservations.

Then slowly, you see something happen – he slips more and more into the thought, the idea – he starts embracing it and soon one action leads to another, like a car that’s jump started on a downhill slope as it picks up momentum.

walter mitty, the secret life of walter mitty, secret life of walter mitty, walter mitty movie, walter mitty summary, walter mitty story walter mitty movie, life of walter mitty, rego's life, musings episode 44 walter mitty had it right

Pretty soon he’s doing more, living life, more than he ever did before – and has no intention of looking back. One simple mishap in his job causes him to take a leap forward in his life – and pretty soon, the involuntary zone-outs stop. Why? Because he’s started living life..and stopped suppressing what his mind wanted his body to do for YEARS.

…and this is what I mean about doing it for yourself – living your life for YOU – and no one else.

Humans aren’t meant to be creatures of repetition. People are one of the most intelligent beings on the face of the earth, yet limit their potential. So. Goddamn. Much.

It’s time for it to stop. It’s time for you to get out there and change your lifestyle. Live your life.

Like I keep saying time and time again, if a person can get up and get something done for their boss, or their job, or anything for anyone else EXCEPT themselves – then what in the hell is stopping them from doing it for themselves and themselves ONLY?

No more pacification. No more substituting living your actual life with day dreams or reality TV. Why watch other people live their lives when you can live your own? No more doing something because your head is on the chopping block at your place of work.

You can’t seriously believe that you were just put on this earth to work a job and build someone else’s dream, can you? I didn’t think so.

I’ve seen countless clients get things accomplished for everyone but themselves – and the first thing I do is (figuratively) throw a book at them to get that thinking unlearnt. It takes work, it takes persistence, and it takes perseverance and preparation…but it’s worth it. It’s priceless, if it means living a life you can say was WORTH living.

It’s time to get out there and do something for you. Start small if you have to, then go big…but the main thing is to make your absolute best effort your ONLY effort. Don’t settle for less – you deserve the best.

Look out for tomorrow’s Make it Mondays post on my official site – I’ll be giving away tips on a MAJOR aspect of how to get the momentum going towards your ideal lifestyle.

Musings Episode 43: Be Teflon.

So the other day I’m walking around the store looking for a new saucepan (yes, saucepan) and there’s a whole slew of Teflon products on the shelves.

When it comes to cooking, I’m not really into Teflon. I don’t like what it’s made of, don’t like the chemical reaction that occurs when it’s heated. Overall, it’s not the kind of product I’d stock my whole kitchen with.

On the flip side – how everything slides right off it never seizes to amaze me.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions

Even though I wouldn’t buy it – you’ve gotta love how cool and convenient that is. That made me think about a few things concerning life.

Thinking about it I know seeing the words “Teflon” and “life” in the same sentence doesn’t actually make too much sense, but in a funny enough way they actually go hand in hand.

Couple weeks ago I posted up a Spiritual Saturdays post where Abraham Hicks discusses the astonishing power of emotion, talks about a person’s vibration and staying in the “vortex” plus various other aspects. It goes on for a good 30 minutes.

Really when you think about it, emotions and vibrations go hand in hand yet can be separated. The key is aligning your energy or “thoughts“…because your thoughts can eat you alive. A good movie that has an excellent example of this is “Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh” – to sum it up it’s about a guy who even though married the woman of his dreams can’t get over his own issues that are revolving around in his head.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions,Main Meri Patni Aur Woh screenshot

Getting a hold of your own vibration sounds odd at first and can take some getting used to, but when you do learn to control and eventually master it, you’ll wonder why it was so hard in the beginning. The free eBook offered here helps with this.

Choosing what to focus on is one of the most powerful things a person can master.

Let’s start talking in terms of analogies.

Choice of thought can be looked at like a pan over a hot burner on a stove top. Depending on what the pan is made of affects how the things that it comes into contact with will cook.

If you don’t take the conscious effort to have control over your own thoughts or your mood, then your whole energy alignment will be like a new skillet that hasn’t been seasoned and needs to be pre-oiled – everything will stick and burn, making it hard for the next food item to be heated or cooked – because the previous item is still stuck onto the pan.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions

If however, you train yourself enough to take control over your thoughts, mood, or “vibration,” and make the conscious decision to say:

“NO. No matter what happens, no matter who I come into contact with, no matter what the weather’s like, no matter what situation I encounter I’m going to make it my business to stay in this happy, relaxed state of mind today…”

if you make the decision to say that to yourself and then follow through with it…well then my friend you’ll be like Teflon.

If someone’s having an off day and you’re just “skipping along” or it’s been smooth sailing with your mood, and you make the decision to say “I don’t have time for this, this isn’t making me feel good, I’m not going to be this vibration or this mood’s company,” eventually, you’ll come to find out that someone else’s energy will just sail right past you.

You’ll be like a Teflon pan where when someone throws an egg in to make an omelet, it just swirls around like a glass of fine wine.

control your mood, rego's life, musings episode 43 be teflon, control your mood, control your emotions, how to control your emotions, controlling your emotions, how to gain control of your emotions, learn to control your emotions, controlling emotions

This is when you truly take control of your day to day mood and feelings. You don’t have to be affected by others if you don’t choose or allow to. The decision lies in choosing to allow. Remember that.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 42: It’s Not Your Job to Save The World…

I’ve been listening to Abraham Hicks lately during my morning routines and it’s given me the idea to touch on a subject that can sometimes come up in certain conversations. The audio that got me thinking about it I’ll be posting for this upcoming Spiritual Saturday’s post at my official site.

In lifestyle coaching – and even fitness consulting – sometimes I get clients that are so happy with their transformations they want to spread the word like wild fire. Which I’m perfectly happy with…but keep reading.

One client in particular (let’s call her Sue) lost a tremendous amount of weight through three factors:

  1. Reading my free eBook which I offer that teaches you about goal setting/changing your thinking
  2. Proper diet
  3. Exercise

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego, abraham hicks, the only measurement is between my desire and my allowing and your emotions tell you everything about that

For a couple weeks she tried encouraging her friends to try it out, to which they weren’t that interested. In fact, some of them stopped hanging around her. Keep in mind Sue did have some weight on her pre-transformation and so did some of her friends. When she realized they weren’t as into reaching the same goals she was, initially she was dejected.

She came to me and we sat down, had a talk. I had to explain to her that she can’t save the world, nor is it her job. Initially she was a bit confused – more or less on the “job” part.

“It’s not my job? I don’t think it is – but everyone should know about this, it can really help them! If I can do it they can too!” she said.

“Even though a person can desire something, not all the time they’re ready to actually take the steps in doing it.” I responded.

save the world, how to save the world, rego's life, episodic musings episode 41 it's not your job to save the world, helping people, people helping people, you can't save the world regos life, regoslife, rego, goal quotes, abraham hicks quotes

…and that’s the truth. There are millions of ideas, services, products, and ways out there people can be helped. Literally. MILLIONS. In fact I’m pretty confident there’s a solution to at least every problem out there on the face of this earth – but nothing, and I do mean nothing can be done if people aren’t willing to embrace, accept, and partake in the solution.

Think of it as a friend coming to you complaining about a problem they’re having. They talk, and talk, and talk about it. They talk about it until hours pass. Then finally, silence.

Now there’s two ways people usually handle this setting – they either talk about the problem with that friend until they’re both blue in the face, but may not necessarily find a solution – OR when their friend finishes talking, say “okay – now what can be done to fix/solve it?”

Men have a tendency to want to get right down to it, assessing the problem then coming up with the answer with all other factors (like emotion) filtered out. Women talk about things to get their head clear, but at times don’t take action on the solution they’re thinking of.

Keep in mind these are studies – at times you can have that kind of guy who talks about his problems but then doesn’t really seek out an answer, then that kind of remarkable woman who cuts to the chase and gets right on finding a solution.

All in all, the focus point here is even if someone has a problem, if they’re not willing (or perhaps not even ready) for the solution, there is absolutely nothing you can do. You may coax and persuade. You may try all those psychology tips you minored in at college…but if a person isn’t ready for the solution, it’s not your job to force feed it to them.

The same way you can’t control another persons thoughts and vice versa, is the same way you can’t make them accept a solution.

It’s not your job. It’s not your responsibility. The only thing you can do is extend your hand – and see if they take it.

This is what I had to translate to Sue. No matter how much she wanted to help her other friends, if they weren’t ready for it, they just weren’t ready for it…and that’s okay. Every person has their own life, and free will to run that life they’re given any way they please.

Which is why in my audio introduction to what Rego’s Life is all about, I stress that exact point. I can provide the tools, the inspiration, and the motivation – but after that, it’s ALL YOU. The only thing I’m doing is giving you a bit of a push – and if you so choose to pick up momentum from that push, then congratulations.

But I’m not gonna “hard sell” anyone into improving their lifestyle. I’ve never believed in doing that. I will consistently provide the tools and motivation though – because it’s my passion. It’s what I love doing. I’ve found my calling, and in doing so, live a much happier life than I would doing something I don’t like or at a job I hate.

It’s not my job to save the world…it’s not my responsibility. Every single human being is their own responsibility.

The only thing I help do is start the engine and help you get that momentum going.

It’s all you…and you can do it. You’ll do it – when you’re ready.

Stay awesome…
