Musings Episode 61: Transitions…

Hope everyone’s having a great weekend and extended Memorial Day weekend – yesterday was super chill for me so figured I’d write something low key.

So if you yourself are in a low key kind of mood this one will appeal to you – if not, don’t hesitate to check out the archives of the site. 😉 Let’s get started…

Musings Episode 61: Transitions…

Musings Episode 61 Transitions, Rego's Life Musings Episode 61 Transitions, Musings Episode 61 Transitions Rego's Life, Rego's Life, transitions, life changes, life, thought, goal, success, plan, philosophy, how to handle transitions, transition period, transition period, period of transition, transitional periods in life, I've always believed there are moments in our lives benjamin x wretlind transitions quotes rego's life

Transitions can range from a variety of scenarios. It could be a situation, a state, even a frame of mind. The funny thing about transitions is, no matter what reason, how you think about them, react to them, and move with them, can greatly affect how they have an impact on your life.

They can be great opportunities or absolute nightmares depending on how you allow your thought process to run.

I have to be honest and say lately I’ve been going through a transitional period myself. How I’ve been dealing with it has been in a sort of grey area. Not bad – but not great either.

Sometimes it can be a real struggle.

Other times you’ve just gotta hone in on all the positive things and mute all the negativity.

This is where I say improving your lifestyle all boils down to YOU – no matter what training is provided. The tools are like that of a mechanic’s – just because they’re in the garage, doesn’t mean they’re gonna fix/tune the car themselves.

I remember about a month or so back someone unsubscribed from the mailing list over at Rego’s Life Official Site. In the box where they could put why they were unsubscribing, they said this: “Did not improve life.

I smiled reading the unscubscribe letter. “That’s cute,” I thought. Not to be sarcastic – but to be honest, it was cute.

As I’ve said time and time again, to every single subscriber and reader on here, while I may provide you with the tools, there’s no “magic potion” that’ll get you living life like a millionaire a week from now.

The “magic potion” is within yourself.

Within your own mind.

Your own thoughts.

Your own ambitions.

Your own heart.

It boils down to the desire, determination, and persistence that you have within YOURSELF, in order to see your life transition from its current state to the one you desire.

Yes, it’s a process.

Did anyone say it was going to be easy?

Not all the time.

Will it be worth it?

Absolutely.

But to just take the transitions in your life as they come, without any focus, any game plan, any goal – that’s being reckless.

That’s being irresponsible.

You can’t stick your head in the sand and say, “woe is me” – you just can’t.

If you’re reading this right now, you’re obviously a human being.

You’re the most intelligent being on the face of this earth.

Albeit not every time you act like it (in fact, many act the opposite).

You’ve gotta take that power and harness it.

Don’t wait for transitions to happen to you.

Don’t let negative transitions happen.

Create and direct your own transitions, control your own future, and fess up to the fact when you know you’re being lazy.

I know sometimes the fight can be tiring.

I know sometimes LIFE, can be tiring…but the way you look at it, can all depend on just HOW tiring you let it seem.

You’ve fought the good fight, and you can fight a few more.

A hundred more.

A thousand more.

And when you get tired of fighting – is when you realize there’s really no need to fight – but instead, simply PLAN.

Plan, improvise, and plan some more. (Wanna know how? Check out this week’s Make it Mondays: Create a Plan of Action – Don’t Let Your Story Write Itself)

You’ll eventually realize that transitions don’t happen to you, but in fact you can create transitions.

I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from Sun Tzu…

Musings Episode 60: Cognitive Empathy…

It’s been a pretty rough day for me. Last week I was wavering on this week’s episodic musing, whether or not it’d be too negative or if I should keep things light – but I think it’s best to go ahead as planned and write what I really wanna write about.

Empathy. It’s something that’s made up of many factors – but it’s also something that’s commonly misunderstood in the sense of its own meaning.

I wanna write about that…raw, unedited. Just pure, straight forward thoughts.

Musings Episode 60: Cognitive Empathy

Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Rego's Life Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings Rego's Life, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, what is empathy, empathy, cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, empathy and sympathy, sympathy and empathy, empathy sympathy, empathy versus sympathy

Empathy is one of those things that people usually peg up against sympathy, trying to figure out where the dividing line or clear cut differences are.

It’s one of those things people don’t really exercise, unless they’re consciously aware – both of themselves and their fellow man.

It’s one of those things that has a lot to do with cooperation.

There’s two major types of empathy – emotional and cognitive. While the latter is pretty cut and dry – being able to emotionally understand where a person is coming from – the latter not many people know how to exercise.

Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Rego's Life Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings Rego's Life, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, what is empathy, empathy, cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, empathy and sympathy, sympathy and empathy, empathy sympathy, empathy versus sympathy

Emotion is easy – it’s something that can change like the ocean’s tide. It’s where the fight or flight mechanism kicks in, and where people can cry when they hear something that pulls at their heart strings.

But cognitive behaviour – when applied to empathy – is a whole different ball game. Cognitive empathy, is when a person actively takes the steps to imagine themselves in the confiding person’s EXACT situation. Not just imagine casually either – but to the point where they actually FEEL that person’s feelings, and understand that person’s thought process.

It’s a task within itself – but only if one isn’t used to doing it.

Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Rego's Life Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings Rego's Life, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, what is empathy, empathy, cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, empathy and sympathy, sympathy and empathy, empathy sympathy, empathy versus sympathy

I’m a relatively serious person. Easy to get along with. Straight shooter. Don’t take bullshit.

A lot of people say I don’t always smile enough – but that’s okay…because at least when I DO smile at someone, they know it’s genuine.

Now although I may look serious – I’ve got a pretty big heart – that I keep behind a pretty big door. You’ve gotta knock to be let in.

But one thing I have learned, is understanding people.

Understanding situations – looking at both sides of the story.

One thing I HAVE learned is that empathy, is both directly and intricately linked with compassion.

Compassion and empathy are two different things – but compassion can’t really be exercised without empathy, first.

Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Rego's Life Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy, Musings Episode 60 Cognitive Empathy Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings Rego's Life, Rego's Life Episodic Musings, what is empathy, empathy, cognitive empathy, emotional empathy, empathy and sympathy, sympathy and empathy, empathy sympathy, empathy versus sympathy

The main difference between empathy and compassion is, in empathy while someone puts themselves into the frame of mind emotionally and imaginatively, COMPASSION is what makes them actively seek helping the other person to find a solution, even if it means being a part of that solution.

Empathy is the beginning of relating to another human being.

Empathy is the beginning of taking the time out to sit down and listen to your fellow man.

Empathy is the beginning of UNDERSTANDING, your fellow man.

Compassion is what humanity must learn – and the focal point, the true starting point to understanding how to exercise compassion? Will be explained in tomorrow’s Make it Mondays post…

Hope everyone’s had a great weekend.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 59: Vulnerability…

This weekend I subjected myself to watching “Fading Gigolo” per request as a mother’s day gift – albeit ever so badly wanting to see Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

But alas, head held high, vomit bag on the ready I went to go watch some old people have sex (no offence).

Okay I lied – to my surprise when I got there it were like, a few, maybe the most ridiculous was one BRIEF visible sex scene in the entirety of the film, and really it was just some woman swearing her husband’s name while the gigalo was standing behind her. So all in all, not too bad.

The soundtrack was pretty great – one song in particuler where Fioravante (the gigolo, played by John Turturro) and Selima (Sofia Vergara) are dancing tango – a song which I actually have in my music collection.

…and might I add, putting Sharon Stone up against Sofia Vergara was wrong in every sense. Sofia was JESUS FUCK while making Stone look…”meh.” (keep up the good work, Vergara).

Back to the main point I’m blabbering on about though – the movie, contrary to its name was actually really flipping good. It had a pretty great point to it, and past all the sexual bullshit focused on one thing – human connection. Curious what I mean? Read on…

Musings Episode 59: Vulnerability

to take a photograph is to participate in another person's mortality vulnerability mutability precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it all photographs testify to time's relentless melt susan sontag quote rego's life, Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability, Rego's Life Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability, Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability Rego's Life, Rego's Life, vulnerability quotes, vulnerable quotes, quotes on vulnerability, being vulnerable quotes, what does vulnerable mean, meaning of vulnerable

Loneliness.

Vulnerability.

Closeness.

As people, everyday we walk around and for the most part, our characters displayed outside are merely skin deep.

Sure, the typical “hello, how are you, thank you, please, no problem, you’re welcome, have a good one” etc is still in play. Even the “fuck you, watch where you’re going arsehole” is there.

But the part where a person genuinely shows themselves, is few and far between – near non-existent.

Outside of closed doors, for some people life is almost like a play, and in that play the characters mainly focus on one thing – being neutral.

Abrasiveness has a tendency to be abundant. Sadness no one really likes to talk about – and that’s fine, why focus on negativity anyway – but happiness – GENUINE sunshine in your pocket rainbows and shit happiness – that’s kind of frowned upon too.

Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability, Rego's Life Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability, Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability Rego's Life, Rego's Life, vulnerability quotes, vulnerable quotes, quotes on vulnerability, being vulnerable quotes, what does vulnerable mean, meaning of vulnerable

Not to sound cynical – don’t let your thoughts run rampant just yet…but expressing genuine happiness without fear of criticism, that’s a rarity.

Many people have a scar of some sort within them. Some wound that was inflicted and healed over time.

Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, wants happiness – even sick sods who thrive off of misery somehow get happiness from that.

But for those that pursue constructive happiness, that’s where it gets…funky.

There’s another interesting thing I noticed going to the movie – the previews.

There was a time when movies were made to inspire, uplift, and looked on at the future as something where humanity would develop, progress, grow, THRIVE.

Now so many movies are being made focused around death, decay – dysotopian futures. Just…fucking depressing.

and these movies, they don’t teach unity, but fear. Fear that immobilizes.

It’s almost as if humanity has become so problem oriented they’re afraid of solutions. It’s as if now we have all this modern technology and medicine, and everyone’s bored – at least in developed countries (I won’t call any specific names).

This isn’t the same thing as vulnerability.

vulnerability is not about fear and grief and disappointment it is the birthplace of everything we're hungry for brené brown quote rego's life,Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability, Rego's Life Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability, Musings Episode 59 Vulnerability Rego's Life, Rego's Life, vulnerability quotes, vulnerable quotes, quotes on vulnerability, being vulnerable quotes, what does vulnerable mean, meaning of vulnerable

A bit of vulnerability can be good at times.

In fact, vulnerability is what allows humans to connect, but only if you understand what vulnerability is.

This is kind of what the movie was getting at.

Human connection. Allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to feel a human connection with another person.

…and so lies the irony – while fear is encouraged, opening yourself up to another person is not. In fact, it’s deemed odd.

Be HAPPY?

Show my REAL SELF?

Tell that girl/guy I really LIKE them?

Are you fucking CRAZY? No thanks mate, I’ll have to pass on that one.

True, while being vulnerable can open you up to a whole world of hurt, allow yourself to do it with the RIGHT people, and it actually becomes a strength.

By the way – to those who do take advantage of people showing their vulnerabilities – you’re all assholes. Grow up.

There was a scene in the film where a widow starts crying while getting a massage due to the fact it’s been so long since anyone’s touched her – touched her in the sense of embracing her. The vulnerability shown wasn’t taken advantage of, but empathized with, understood, and worked through.

It created a bond of some sort, without many words and without many actions.

Vulnerability is an emotion, it creates connections – and those connections can be beneficial to the entirety of humanity, if utilized positively and without ulterior motives.

I read an interesting article on vulnerability on TheNeeds a few days ago, which I’ll link to in tomorrow’s Make it Mondays post, which I’ll further elaborate on in regards to vulnerability, and the power behind it.

Until then, never thought I’d say this but don’t hesitate to check out Fading Gigolo – it’s a pretty good watch.

Hope everyone had a great weekend and I’ll catch you guys tomorrow.

As always…

Musings Episode 58: Sex Energy…

Sex…so many people want it, many have it, little know of what it really does – besides satisfy basic physical urges.

But really…besides the physical “pros” what else is sex good for? Procreation? Check. Stress reliever? Check. Immune system booster? Check.

…how about other things though? There is so much more to sex than what most people think. I wanna elaborate a bit more on exactly how much more there is to it. Enjoy.

Musings Episode 58: Sex Energy…

Musings Episode 58 Sex Energy, Rego's Life Musings Episode 58 Sex Energy, Musings Episode 58 Sex Energy Rego's Life, Rego's Life, sex energy, energy transmutation, what to do for more energy, channeling your energy, how to find your chi energy, energy relationships, transmutation of energy, sex

Sex is one of those things that’s so openly talked about today. We see it on TV, hear about it on the radio, in songs, watch it in movies, hell, most of the best and eye catching advertising is based around sex.

Those teeny bopper stores, Hollister and A&F advertising tactics? Scream sex.

Not that there’s anything wrong with it. Nope. This isn’t gonna be some post about the talk of sex being “bad” or “taboo.” In fact I openly acknowledge that the practice of (safe) sex has loads of benefits – and is a great workout. It’s just knowing which ones are the best.

As I said earlier, it certainly has a lot of physical benefits. The key is using it constructively, because like everything, it has it’s negatives and is sometimes used the wrong way.

…but did you know sex, or more accurately sex energy ties in a lot with success in your own life? I’m talking financially too.

See, before the actual act of sex is engaged in, there’s a pre-existing energy – and that energy can be quite strong. The energy itself is known to heighten senses, provide rushes of adrenaline, and increase the human ability to tap into a level of thinking and goal setting you wouldn’t be able to under normal circumstances.

Guys, you do it all the time – it’s like bringing your A-game – knowing just what to say to that 10 at the bar – knowing just when to place your hand on the small of that girl’s back you’ve been talking to for the past 10 minutes.

Ladies, you do it too – it’s like tapping into your sex appeal – knowing just how to look at that guy (or girl) who’s been eyeing you for the past 15 minutes, enough to grab his attention but not to seem like you’re checking him out too much. Subconsciously making certain body language signals showing when you’re interested in him.

No matter what sexuality the same human instincts are tapped into. Now just imagine for a second, if all that super charged energy, all that focus, all that mental strategy were to be harnessed, and directed towards an intense desire that had nothing to do with the art of seduction. What if you could harness that energy and put it towards more financial success…better business strategies…solving that problem you’ve been wracking your brain for in university.

Truth is, you can harness that “sex energy” – it’s called “sex transmutation” or “energy” transmutation.

Napoleon Hill talks about it in his book Think and Grow Rich, and I’ve gotta say, the way he breaks it down is pretty powerful, and many people have tapped into it without even realizing it.

This is why men become more successful when they hit past 40 – either their sex drive drops, or sex doesn’t become as important of a factor as it did when they were more energetic and focused on it in their 20’s – but the sex energy is still there.

They just find a way to use it more constructively.

Having sex energy doesn’t always tie in with being sexually attracted to and energized by someone’s presence either – having a high sex energy comes naturally to some people, and it doesn’t mean they’re “sex addicts” or any other negative.

True, you do have some asinine characters who purely focus on sex without any real purpose – but the people who have naturally high sex energy are of various breeds – you’ve got the harmless flirts, the suave charmers, and of course, the “players.”

It’s all dependent on what their goals are or the degree of importance they place on satisfying the “physical” aspect of sex, but when you really break it down, sex energy is just one of the highest forms of mind stimuli. One of the highest – and most powerful…that can be used constructively if taught how to.

Tapping into the physical part of it is the least effective way to harness such an extraordinary power, actually.

There’s so much more to it, and knowing how to tap into it completely can DRAMATICALLY change your life.

So the next question lingering in your head is probably this:

How do you tap into your sex energy completely?

Catch tomorrow’s Make it Mondays post over at my Official Site and I’ll give you some tips just how to harness your own sex energy, along with other powerful mind stimuli that can alter your life and help you attain your desire much faster.

Musings Episode 57: Read The Air…

Not sure if anyone’s heard this expression, slightly similar to “read between the lines.” I touched briefly on it several episodic musings ago, a little something I picked up in Asia. Thought I’d elaborate once more on it here. Enjoy.

Musings Episode 57: Read The Air…

Musings Episode 57 Read The Air, Rego's Life Musings Episode 57 Read The Air, Musings Episode 57 Read The Air Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Japanese culture, read the air, how to read the air, read between the lines, culture, thought, episodic musings, Japan

There’s certain points in conversation where an exchange happens, and either both or one of the parties wanna say something but refrain slightly from doing so – and instead just sort of “dance” around the subject.

Personally, I prefer to talk straight (note, this does not mean “talking without thinking first”), but sometimes this type of thinking isn’t always appropriate for every single situation. This is where learning to appreciate reading the air comes in handy. Don’t get me wrong – reading the air has some serious negatives, too – but at times and in certain situations, it can be highly beneficial (business is not one of them though).

I remember my days back in uni studying International Business and Asia Pacific Studies – this was shortly after returning from Japan – they were discussing just what “reading the air” meant.

Simply put, it’s like saying something without actually saying it, but the implication’s there with as few words as possible. It’s about reading the atmosphere, and knowing what (or what not) to say next. It’s just something you’ve gotta pick up on. It’s pretty helpful because it can spare embarrassment.

So why the heck am I writing about this on a Musings Episode? It’s just one of those thoughts I had to get on paper…or computer screen, guess you could say.

It’s something that would benefit the Western culture greatly if they learned how to use it, as it teaches a person how to be tactful and not sound so presumptuous…or assinine, for that matter.

I’d say the trait is more in Americans, BUT, coming from an English background as well there’s been more than a fair share of people I’ve wanted to say “sod off” too as well.

Reading the air can tie into not letting your brother turn “red in the face.” It’s a really core part of Japanese culture and something that you never fully master – some may call it “passive.” Yeah, it’s got some tendencies of “don’t rock the boat,” but really it can boil down to sparing someone’s feelings as well (hence the “red in the face” expression).

Although Chinese culture is on a whole different level (right down to the way they ask you to open a window) when it comes to indirect communication, the same way kids in primary school out here are being taught Mandarin, because this is turning into a global economy and has been one for a while now, it’d be really beneficial if the generation of today were taught key cultural “quirks” like these.

It’s not asking much either, really. The same way Western culture has its sarcasm, highly innuendo-ish humor, and cliches, picking up how to understand what someone’s saying without a plethora of words could balance the entirety of a lot of people’s social skills to say the least.

Tomorrow I’ll be elaborating on a few quick tips on exactly how to start reading the air.

Just a little Sunday food for thought. Wanna share your opinion? Comment below.

Hope everyone’s having a great morning. 😉

Musings Episode 56: Remember Where You Came From.

Hey all, hope everyone had a great Easter Sunday (and Monday), mine was pretty good. Anyway, I did some thinking over the weekend and thought this episodic musing should focus on something I always have kept as a sort of “mantra” throughout my life. Enjoy.

Musings Episode 56: Remember Where You Came From

Rego's Life, Musings Episode 56 Remember Where You Came From, Rego's Life Musings Episode 56 Remember Where You Came From, Musings Episode 56 Remember Where You Came From Rego's Life, regoslife, remember where you came from, remember where you came from quotes, always remember where you came from, remember where you came from quote, just remember where you came from, always remember where you came from, do not forget where you came from

Anyone recognize the screenshot from this movie? If you do, comment below…it’d be cool to see who else knows 🙂

But that’s not the movie I’m on about in this post…in fact, this weekend I watched The Drifter –

…a film where Rob Machado just kind of gets away from it all. Tries to get back to his roots. Tries to get back to what surfing was all about. Overall a really chill but powerful film – with one of the best soundtracks to date.

A lot of times so many people get caught up in the things they’re doing on an ongoing basis, and in turn quite often forget where they came from. Think about this for a second – and I know – usually telling someone to “remember where they came from” is something that’s assimilated to saying such things to a person who’s at the top, made it, etc…basically become successful.

While it’s true, when you become successful you should always remember where you came from…but let’s not forget that this can also be applied to people heading to their desired destination, goal, or purpose.

Because of the fact most people do have jobs, it can be easy to forget why you’re working that job if you have a goal for your life. Funny thing about jobs is they can get you into a rhythm, or “rut” so to speak if you’re not careful. You forget why you’re doing the job, and just end up going after the money…and feeling lost or aimless. This is where you’ve gotta find your center again.

Not that anyone can blame you – it’s a cycle. It’s called getting into a “comfort zone,” and not the healthy kind…because getting into that kind of comfort zone can make you forget what you were originally going after.

Sticking to getting what you really want though, can sometimes be a lonely road. If you want it bad enough, you’ll understand this – because nothing, and I do mean nothing can stop you from acquiring it. Not people’s criticism. Not temporary defeat. Nothing. You’ve gotta get to the point where in the words of Napoleon Hill it’s an “obsession.”

This is what I mean when I say remember where you came from. Remember where you started. Remember why you started. No matter how long ago it was, how lonely it felt, or how seemingly insignificant it may have felt at that time, never lose sight of the vision.

Remember where you came from…and you’ll remember where you’re going.

Musings Episode 55: Trust…

Super low key this weekend was. Met up with a good friend and was brushing up on some literature from Jeffrey Gitomer and had this brilliant idea to write about trust.

Trust is an interesting thing – so interesting there are books written on it. I’ve got my own points about it as well – so sit back and enjoy the read.

Trust is a tricky thing. It ties in with more aspects of life than some may stop to think and realize. Trust is one of those things that can be broken in an instant, take years to create…and decades to repair.

Often people have trouble trusting those they’ve never met.

…but what about trusting people who are your own bloodline?

This is where going with your gut, or really being in touch with your “higher self” comes into play. Trust takes thought, consideration, and the ability to go against the grain of the societal norm and get in touch with your own humanity.

It’s about not always looking out for your own arse.

These days the world we live in can be so pessimistic when a person does come across someone who’s genuinely kind, or genuine in general really, it’s either mistaken for flirting or as if that person has an “angle.”

A friend of mine grew up as an orphan, and we often discuss things like trust, and what it was like for him not knowing that when it came to family. It was as if it was foreign to him.

So many people these days take their own family for granted and don’t realize just how much having a support system is key to human survival.

Before all the modern technology and medicine, people had shorter life expectancies – meaning they were literally forced to appreciate an array of things in life many don’t think twice about nowadays.

It’s not so much dependence human beings need, but interdependence – and that’s a whole different ball game.

Both dependence and interdependence can really only be carried out if a person has someone they can TRUST – independence is in a different field, where really it just comes down to relying on yourself.

My friend having previously been in the military said that while being an orphan did indeed teach him a tremendous amount of independence, it was incredibly difficult, but somehow strangely comforting taking up a profession where some type of interdependence isn’t just optional, but MANDATORY for survival.

We both were sat down over coffee this weekend while he was telling me this…and all at once I could see a mix of emotions flowing across his face. Pain. Comfort. Happiness. Contemplation.

Then while taking a sip he sentimentally mentioned that he loved that feeling. That feeling of interdependence. Because really, it didn’t matter if his own bloodline didn’t want him – yes, it was bitter, at first, painful, heart-wrenching…

You can’t wallow in the fact that the very same people that are supposed to trust you, know you, and understand you, are those who probably do less of that than the stranger on the street, or the guy who stays in the same barracks as you.

This is the spin on trust many people don’t even consider in their day to day lives…and you know, stuff like this compels me to write on it, pay attention to it, and pay attention to people more.

That’s what trust is – paying attention.

It’s about going with your gut – not your head.

It’s about listening to that bit of intuition that pops up in the still of night – not the 10 people who’ve sourced information all from heresay.

It’s about exercising humanity.

It’s about understanding your fellow man.

It’s about touching the human heart.

Because when you trust someone – you’re saying you believe in them. When you believe in them – you touch their heart.

…and believing in someone is one of the few, but fundamental things needed in today’s world.

Trust yourself, and you can trust others.

Believe in yourself, and you can believe in others…and get others to believe in you.

Pay attention to those around you, and don’t for a second take anyone, or anything for granted.

Because at some point in life, no matter how smooth the sail is, you’re gonna want someone to believe in you. To trust in you.

Show some humanity – even if you get bitten once in a while.

Better to be bitten for doing something decent, than going through life with blinders on your eyes – because with those blinders, although you avoid seeing all the messy stuff – you also miss out on seeing a lot of the really beautiful things, too.

Musings Episode 54: Persistence…

Yeah, I know….this one’s up super late. This weekend was a little crazy, but I’d rather have delayed this post than offered up something inferior – after all, quality is key, not quantity.

So anyway, just thought it’d be a great idea to continue in the train of thought on some key factors that speed people along to their success – one of the biggest things being persistence.

Musings Episode 54: Persistence…

episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Persistence, Rego's Life Episode 54 Persistence, Regos Life, regoslife, Napoleon Hill, Think & Grow Rich, Rego, Thought, Philosophy, As Long As We Are Persistence In Our Pursuit Of Our Deepest Destiny We Will Continue To Grow. We Cannot Choose The Day Or Time When We Will Fully Bloom It Happens In Its Own Time Denis Waitley, denis waitley, persistence quotes, quotes

One of the biggest things that lead to failure in pursuit of anything is lack of persistence…and to be quite frank, it can be avoided so easily. It’s just a matter of changing perspective and really recognizing within yourself how much you want to accomplish your goal.

There’s a great quote by Earl Nightingale…

Don't let the fear of time it will take to accomplish something earl nightingale rego's life quotes, earl nightingale quotes, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Persistence, Rego's Life Episode 54 Persistence, Regos Life, regoslife, Napoleon Hill, Think & Grow Rich, Rego, Thought, Philosophy , persistence quotes, quotes

The starting point, and basis of persistence boils down to willpower. When you combine will power with desire, there’s no stopping you. The key to always remember is whatever you pursue, make sure it benefits all who partake. I’ve said this before but it deserves reiterating – no – absolutely no wealth can long endure unless built from truth and justice.

Persistence has to be both conscious and subconscious – you’ve gotta remember, this is YOUR dream or goal. Whether it’s learning to be the best goal keeper in soccer, or turning that little part time sandwich shop business you’ve been building after your regular day job into a full time restaurant, the responsibility of your future and the goals you have planned for it boil down to YOUR will power, YOUR desire, YOUR faith, and YOUR PERSISTENCE.

It’s really all on you. You can have encouragement from others – but at the end of the day, it’s you who has to persist with those little habits you have to turn consistent. Doing one little thing a day towards your goal makes a bigger difference than just sitting there doing nothing, day in, day out, or worse – theorizing.

The same way so many people have dedication or feel an obligation to get up and go to their job every day, the same way people make sure to eat lunch/dinner on time, is the same way you should be persistent and dedicated to pursuing whatever goal you have, business, personal, or romantic related.

AMBITION IS THE PATH TO SUCCESS PERSISTENCE IS THE VEHICLE YOU ARRIVE IN WILLIAM EARDLEY IV, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Persistence, Rego's Life Episode 54 Persistence, Regos Life, regoslife, Napoleon Hill, Think & Grow Rich, Rego, Thought, Philosophy , persistence quotes, quotes

It’s all about repetitive effort.

I remember getting into web design and learning about both the hardware and software side of computers when I was a teen. There was a Goodwill that sold old computers for cheap, and had them by the dozen. A lot of times the mouse and keyboard they’d throw in for free.

Through desire and persistence, backed by will power, I learned a lot more about computers than people twice my age did. No, I didn’t have state of the art equipment, but the quality of equipment wasn’t the education…because even with all the “high quality” equipment, everything starts somewhere with basics.

If you learn the basic concept of things, that’s how you grow to understand how many other things work. A strong foundation is key. This is why persistence is so important.

You’ve gotta be persistent in reaching your goal, even if it means it may take a bit of time and education first.

You’ve gotta be persistent in getting better at something you’ve been working on, even if you’ve not been able to break past the “plateau” you find yourself to have reached.

You’ve gotta be persistent in attaining the lifestyle you want, even if it means holding your current job and working on your business after or before work.

PERSISTENCE IS TO THE CHARACTER OF MAN AS CARBON IS TO STEEL NAPOLEON HILL Rego's Life Quotes, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Persistence, Rego's Life Episode 54 Persistence, Regos Life, regoslife, Napoleon Hill, Think & Grow Rich, Rego, Thought, Philosophy , persistence quotes, quotes

The easiest way to gain persistence all starts with taking little, tiny steps, everyday. Those little steps turn into larger strides, then light jogging…running….then sprinting.

Eventually the “great feat” called persistence comes just as natural to you as brushing your teeth or eating lunch. It becomes habit. A part of your life…and it feels weird if skip it or ignore it – the same way skipping a shower before going to bed feels.

So no matter where you’re at in accomplishing your goal, as long as you’ve started somewhere and are on a consistent basis working towards it, you’ve already mastered some if not all of the entire concept of persistence.

…and if you haven’t started, what the hell are you waiting for? Do it now.

Remember – persistence is a state of mind. There are 8 factors that are integral parts of persistence…all of which I’ll share with you in the next “Make it Mondays” post. So stay sharp, look out for both it and the next Business Tools Tuesdays post, and of course…

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 53: Faith – It’s Not Religious.

This weekend’s been a blur…but it was still awesome, filled with a lot of, well, fulfilling conversation. Mostly concerning politics, religion, finance, and more. Boring stuff to some – but important and integral to understanding life.

So as you know last week you all found out I was re-reading Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich. Well my friends and I on Friday night just so happened to get into a heavy conversation on religion, atheism and spirituality.

I’ll be honest – I’ve never been the religious type. The church going type. I’ve never been an atheist, either. Agnostic? For a stint. Spiritual? Probably been spiritual out of all of those three.

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience we are spiritual beings having a human experience pierre teilhard de chardin spiritual quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

There was a time in Asia when I learned many things, it was a time that gave me literally months to meditate. Call it a sabbatical if you will…but probably the biggest thing about it was coming to understand myself, more than anything else.

See once you understand yourself, everything else kind of falls into place. Fear fades, because you know how to test your limits. You learn patterns. Habits. Thoughts. It all starts internally. Begin to know yourself internally and you’ll understand why you do things externally.

You have to grow from the inside out none can teach you none can make you spiritual there is no other teacher but your own soul swami vivekananda spiritual quotes rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

Anyway, back to Friday – a few friends and I got into this BIG discussion on the differences in atheism, religion, and spirituality. It’s pretty awesome when you have a group of friends where some are atheist, some are spiritual, and some are religious. I’ve had friends that are stout Muslim to total atheist – yet we still can comfortably get along and agree to disagree about our beliefs.

An interesting conclusion and mutual agreement within all the conversation that was exchanged though was one specific topic: Faith. Somehow, through some way shape or form, everyone could understand the topic of faith, even if they didn’t understand it completely.

Faith is a knowledge within the heart beyond the reach of proof khalil gibran faith quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

Which really goes to show that faith isn’t religious – but a state of mind.

It’s not rooted strictly in religion – as religion has its downfalls, as does atheism.

…but what does faith have?

Power.

Insurmountable power.

Once a person comes to know it and harness it that is.

According to Napoleon Hill, faith is simply a state of mind which may be induced or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind, through the principle of “auto-suggestion.”

Faith is a state of mind – yet also an emotion.

Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe voltaire fatih quotes rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

A lot of religions say “have faith,” yet rarely explain what faith is, let alone how to obtain it.

A lot of atheist say “have courage,” yet rarely state that courage is tied in with faith.

A lot of spiritual people say “believe before you see,” without really realizing they’re just saying “be courageous and have faith.”

Faith really isn’t something that can be taught from a book. It’s something you have to develop within yourself. The only way so far to train yourself to have faith is through tapping into your subconscious.

How do you tap into your subconscious? Through repetition of affirmations or “stories/orders” you tell yourself.

Desire backed by faith knows no such word as impossible napoleon hill faith quotes rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

The easiest way to describe this is to think on the man who commits a crime for the first time. When a man first comes into contact with crime, at first, he’s nervous, shaky, and abhors it. If he remains in contact with crime, he slowly becomes accustomed to it and endures. If he remains in contact with it long enough, he slowly embraces it and becomes influenced by it.

Another good example would be someone who goes to war. The act of being in active war is at first frightening, no matter how glorified they think it may be. The adrenaline kicks in, a person can get nervous, resistant of killing their fellow-man. Eventually, the longer they do it, they overcome fear and gain more courage – they gain more confidence. Then eventually, they can think clearly even in the heat of battle…eventually that courage, converts to confidence, converts to faith – that with the right planning, they can win the battle – win the war.

A man of courage is also full of faith marcus tullius cicero faith quotes rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

It can also be easier to have faith when you have a plan.

Faith is something that has to be developed at its own speed – and you don’t need a church or religion to do that.

Faith is something that’s a personal thing, an emotion you yourself have to become comfortable with – faith is something your conscious mind has to work with your subconscious mind on becoming comfortable with.

All thoughts that have been emotionalized (given feeling) and mixed with faith, begin immediately to translate themselves into their physical equivalent/counterpart.

So really, if you think about it, a man could tell himself a lie day in day out, and eventually believe it. Once he has belief in the lie, he has confidence – once he has confidence, he has faith – and once he has faith, that lie suddenly becomes FACT in his mind, regardless of “truth.”

Faith is a state of mind. An emotion. An emotion, that must have self-confidence to truly flourish.

Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy Norman vincent peale rego's life, Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life Musings Episode 53 Faith it's Not Religious, Rego's Life, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, regoslife, have faith, i don't have enough faith to be an atheist, gotta have faith, having faith, have faith in yourself, faith meaning, what does faith mean, meaning of faith, what is the meaning of faith, the meaning of faith

How do you gain self-confidence?

Look out for the explanation and how-to in this week’s “Make it Mondays” post over at the official site, regoslife.eu

Musings Episode 52: Desire.

Today has been a truly special day. I went out for the day to celebrate this blog, and my company Rego’s Life. Because as of today, this 52nd post, is an anniversary post – an anniversary marking one year to date, that I’ve been writing the Musings on RegosLife.com.

This whole week, is an anniversary week, really – for Quote Wednesdays, and For The Weekenders…but today is the most special day. Because 52 episodes ago is where it all started. Where I decided to gain the courage, and enthusiasm to write and express my thoughts not just to friends, or at small gatherings, not just during writing classes or publicly speaking – but with the entire world.

52nd post anniversary, rego's life, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Musings Episode 52 Desire, Rego's Life Musings Episode 52 Desire, Thought, Napoleon Hill, Rego, History, one year anniversary rego's life, think and grow rich the original classic napoleon hill, think and grow rich, desire, Rego's Life

I’m proud to say I’ve consistently written a musing every week, without fail – and humble enough to say that all the inspiration, all the ideas, all the wording and expressions, were a gift from what I call Infinite Intelligence; Ruler of The Universe, Master of All Masters. A gift I chose to take heed to, and grab from the ether…but that’s not the only one I’d like to thank today.

I also have to wholeheartedly, 100%, genuinely, thank my readers and followers who have been with me all this time. You ladies and gents, from every stretch of the world, are what further inspire me every day to continue to take all the ideas, expressions, and thoughts given to me by Infinite Intelligence, and share them; unyielding and consistently. So thank you – and may I continue to write and deliver quality content for all of you to enjoy.

You’re all awesome, and I sincerely appreciate you.

This may sound a bit narcissistic, but what the hell….

Happy One Year RegosLife.com Anniversary to Me.

archer woo, rego's life, episodic musings, how to improve your life, musings episode 50 desire, how to achieve success
Well then, shall we? Let’s begin.

I wanted to talk specifically on something that was lightly touched on a couple of weeks ago, both on here and the official site. That something is desire.

For the better part of Friday morning and the entirety of Saturday, I was what one would call devouring the contents of a book I bought years ago – Think and Grow Rich: The Original Classic, by Napoleon Hill, The Unabridged Version.

The book was originally printed in 1937, but many, if not ALL of the principles taught in it still apply to modern day times. Though they have revised it since then, it’s the ORIGINAL version you want to get, as this is one book you don’t want any alterations of.

It helped me in university, and continues to help me today every time I go to pick it up, and read it again. There’s a chapter in the book Napoleon Hill advises all of his readers to read again once they’ve finished the entire book, and continue to read until they fully understand it in its entirety – Chapter 2: Desire.

52nd post anniversary, rego's life, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Musings Episode 52 Desire, Rego's Life Musings Episode 52 Desire, Thought, Napoleon Hill, Rego, History, one year anniversary rego's life, think and grow rich the original classic napoleon hill, think and grow rich, desire, Rego's Life, desire quotes, desire, quotes on desire, napoleon hill desire, think and grow rich the original classic, desire is the starting point of all achievement not a hope not a wish but a keen pulsating desire which transcends everything napoleon hill

Desire is something that’s looked quite oddly upon nowadays. Something frowned upon by some, and encouraged by others. If anyone saw the movie “Mad Money,” there’s a certain scene in it that was both funny, yet makes me cringe.

It’s when the main character who’s a housewife of a guy who lost his job is trying to convince one of her co-workers into “recycling” old money. The co-worker, Nina, makes a clear statement to which Bridget, the housewife, retorts :

Nina Brewster: I don’t want things I can’t have.

Bridget Cardigan: Do you live in America?

Reading Think and Grow Rich again it really puts that last line into perspective. The U.S. was built off of many factors, one of those being desire. Desire was one of the KEY factors, along with decision, definite purpose, faith, fearlessness, organized planning, imagination, persistence, and many other factors that gave the colonists of America freedom from the British.

The same goes for when Lincoln wanted to enforce the Proclamation of Emancipation, and when industrialist America was being built – thanks to capitalism, imagination, proper planning, and specialized knowledge. Without a desire to see change, progress, or any forward thinking movement, many countries would not be built to where they are today, nor have history worth mentioning in books.

Men like Abraham Lincoln, Samuel Adams, Gandhi, and even Napoleon Bonaparte were all fueled by desire and purpose, desire being something they never let die within themselves, through the strength of persistence. No matter how many times they may have encountered failure or met temporary defeat.

there is one quality which one must possess to win and that is definiteness of purpose the knowledge of what one wants and a burning desire to possess it napoleon hill quote, 52nd post anniversary, rego's life, episodic musings, episodic musings of a quintessential entrepreneur, Musings Episode 52 Desire, Rego's Life Musings Episode 52 Desire, Thought, Napoleon Hill, Rego, History, one year anniversary rego's life, think and grow rich the original classic napoleon hill, think and grow rich, desire, Rego's Life, desire quotes, desire, quotes on desire, napoleon hill desire, think and grow rich the original classic

Desire can be a tool used to fulfill both good and bad things…but desire is something that every human being must continue to have in order to live the type of lives they want and accomplish the type of goals they have.

It was desire that gave me the strength to persevere in building up Rego’s Life, first starting with this Personal Blog, then the Official Site, and finally Rego’s Life Store.

It was desire to spread positivity, that gave me the determination to turn Rego’s Life Official Site into a place where knowledge and information could be sourced and utilized to the best and most positive ability for all who came across it.

It was the desire for the ability to keep all of that information free to the public, which prompted me to go all in, quit all things automotive and real estate related, assemble a team, and start Rego’s Life Store and it’s main branch RLS Web Creations™, so that I could fully dedicate my time to writing and sharing all the information you see on RegosLife.com, regoslife.eu, and things you don’t see that happen offline as well.
