Musings Episode 29: Lifestyle…

Alright so…as you all know, my blog mainly focuses on lifestyle enhancements. But lately a lot of what I’ve been finding is, when you Google how to improve your lifestyle, or getting more from your money to enjoy life, most people talk about just being frugal, money conscious, or maintaining a dreaded “budget”…..damn I don’t like that word. Not in the slightest.

The question is….why? Why is it that lifestyle is associated with money? Well, for one – money is the modern day bartering system. So alright, fair enough there…

money, lifestyle, gold, lifestyle enhancements, how to improve your lifestyle

…but why is it that people believe that money is what limits them? I believe in splurging and living practically – the best of both worlds. I’ve been blasted before because of this – many stating that method of thinking is easier said then done – but if you really look at how society is taught to utilize money, you’ll realize it’s not about budgeting, or clipping coupons, or getting that no-frills flight for a discounted ticket rate.

It’s about the way you look at money….and the way many are taught to look at money is a very weird way. I know I keep banging this into your head but as a whole, people are taught to be consumers. Now I’m not saying consumerism is bad, not at all. But the way in which you’re taught to be a consumer, may be detrimental to the way you’re also taught to achieve your real desires, and real goals.

There’s a saying – Americans live to work – Europeans work to live.

live life, life is beautiful, learn to live life, lifestyle, how to live your own life

What is living? It’s a definition custom tailored to each and every individuals concepts and goals. Yet still, as a majority, people are mostly taught what living is – not to define and teach themselves what it is.

Learning can be done two ways – the lazy way, or the easy way with a touch more effort on your part. You’re probably thinking “lazy and easy are the same, aren’t they?” – not necessarily so.

Lazy is auto pilot – which hey, sometimes I love autopilot. Push notifications, auto updates, automated money making, etc, etc….lazy can be fun as hell.

Easy can be auto pilot, but in order to be auto pilot, there has to be some sort of structure built first – when you think about it, lazy stems from easy, except it’s already put in place.

That’s how many who have learned how to live, have learned it the lazy way. This is especially so in any country where the mass majority intakes large amounts of tube time (television, if that didn’t register with you).

lifestyle, lifestyle enhancements, how to live life, how to improve your life, learn to live life

Weeks ago I was at a friend’s working on a car with them, it was the weekend…and as we were driving out of the neighborhood, for the first time I saw a lot of people’s garage doors open – and when I looked inside…what do you think I saw?

Stuff.

Garages filled with stuff.

Here we were, driving through the community and where I thought most garages would look like their intended use, instead I saw tons of stuff, piled on top of each other however neatly people saw fit – and not being used. Forgotten about. Stored away for…whatever reason.

That’s not caring about yourself. That’s not the good kind of selfish. That’s temporary gratification to fulfill short term desires.

The commercials come on, they tell you you need this, and you want that, and you’re missing this, and you’re home wouldn’t be complete without that – and your daughter needs to learn how to be a mom, and your son needs to learn all things rough and tough and mechanical and tactical all before they’ve both even hit puberty. They tell you you’re better off with this credit card, because you can get more things – then months later if you’re still in lazy mode and the bill hasn’t been paid, they say it’s okay that you’re in debt and this and that company can help you – it’s not your fault, but those damn people who enticed you and held an imaginary gun to your head making you sign up for that card and this loan for that boat. They further encourage you – they say even if your financial track record is shot to shit it’s still okay, because they’ll help you finance and consume more irregardless, if you’re tired of that 2012 CLK500 and want the 2013 one now…

don't waste your life, live life, how to live life, learn to live life, lifestyle, how to improve your lifestyle

….doesn’t all this sound exhausting?

but alas – you’ve learned the auto pilot way of living – what do you care? It hardly took any effort….

Wait though. You do care? Good, that’s what I want from you. To care. About yourself. Be selfish – in a good way. Not the way you’ve been taught.

Plain and simple, the easy way of living is this – exercise your imagination. Creativity. Attitude. Looking inside yourself – not at the TV, not listening to the radio commercials, not reading the junk literature…but looking inside yourself. Taking time out, day by day – even 30 minutes – that’s just 2% of your day – to strike up a conversation with you. Get to know what you like, what you want, what’s fun for you, what you enjoy buying – not what everyone else says that should be liked, should be desired, is fun, and is enjoyable to buy.

how to live life, lifestyle, learn to live life, how to improve your lifestyle

There’s two roads – the road less traveled, and the most well known road. Take the less traveled one – because really, when you think about it, that’s your road. Free of pot holes, miles and miles of smooth, unbeaten pavement.

When you begin to teach yourself how to live, how to desire, and how to acquire – then you’re learning how to live – because you won’t be going off any cookie cutter template that’s already been made – but you’ll have your own identity. Side note – go ahead and subscribe on my official site for a free ebook on how to do this.

live life, how to live life, give live meaning, lifestyle, lifestyle enhancements

You’ll be original in your own way. You’ll stand out above the crowd, and you’ll do it for you – not for anyone else. You’ll be selfish enough to find out and explore what makes you happy…and you won’t care whether or not you have the latest car or the newest iPhone – because you’ll go after what you really want, and not people judging you by what you should want.

It takes more effort, but the effort is minimal, and in fact, less stressful.

lifestyle enhancements, how to live your life, how to live life, how to improve your life, lifestyle

Remember this – the person you see in the mirror – that’s your competition. That’s your audience. That’s your follower. When it comes to your life, and how to live it, as long as you do it in a positive and constructive way, to better yourself – then the only person you have to focus on getting things done for, is yourself.

Stay awesome. 😉

For The Weekenders: Sweets Delivered to Your Door, Moves Like Thriller, Massages on Demand…

Let’s be honest….everyone has their own little late night cravings.

Late night cravings

Hold up – I didn’t mean that.

Get your head out of the gutter…I was talking about sweets. You’re on your own with the other stuff...

….alright all jokes aside – there’s this great little place I discovered about a week ago that I just had to share with you guys (and ladies). It’s located in Miami – but hear me out before you move onto the next one in the lineup.

So get this – you know those nights out where you have a great time, but in the process ended up getting serious munchies? Yeah – we’ve all been there. Well, this is where Night Owl Cookie Co. comes in handy.

night owl cookie company

While their current website may be a little lacking, don’t let that shy you away – these guys freshly baked goods are, well, good….and that’s a high compliment coming from someone who works out 5 days a week, twice a day. So Night Owl Cookie Co. – good job. Keep up the good work. 😉

What makes them so special? Oh nothing…except the fact that they deliver cookies and other various sweets right to your front door. Which, let’s be honest, when you’ve had one too many drinks and you and a group of friends have carried the party over to your place, turns out to be extremely convenient – to say the least.

night owl cookie company review

Go ahead and check out their menu, where you can take your pick from any of their signature cookies. They also offer donuts, and milk with your choice of chocolate or vanilla to wash all that down so you’re not left feeling parched. Open from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day, delivery to your door on a Friday is a breeze with prompt, courteous service. Just try not to spill that cocktail on their shoes.

Speaking of cocktails, every once in a while it’s good to get away from the Miami scene and head out west – I’m thinking L.A….because while Miami is fun – you haven’t fully partied until you’ve partied out west. There and Thailand. *nods*

Not to be mistaken for the San Francisco based band Honeycut, there’s a sweet little hangout with the same name, but different game – located in L.A. on S Flower St. – conveniently located in the Alley parallel to Flower. What do they have? Allow me to inform you….

Honeycut Los Angeles Cocktails On Tap

Remember that other For The Weekenders post I wrote about Wine on Tap…? Well, try cocktails on tap – yeah, Honeycut takes it one step further – and it’s that one step further that makes me, and any other weekend enthusiasts jump for joy like a tween at a Justin Beiber concert.

Jump for joy

The place is packed with different things, including awesome decor, craft cocktails, blue felt pool table, ultra comfy leather seating – oh and did I mention a dance floor that makes you feel like you’re on the set of Saturday Night Fever (or even Thriller)…? Yeah Except way more swank.

I’d recommend brushing up on your dance moves – it’s gonna be kind of hard to look better than Travolta in this setting if you’re with a hot date. If you’re absolutely sure you can’t beat Travolta – or Michael Jackson for that matter – then just hope for the best, knock back a few drinks, and pray they’ve never seen either films.

Honeycut LA Dance Floor

Before you hit that dance floor, hit up the bar first, take in the scenery, and try your hand at some pool for a warm-up. A warm-up never hurt anyone. Besides – it gives you an excuse to take photos and post them to Instagram – if you’re into that.

With every warm-up, there comes a cool down…you know, stretching, taking things slow, etc, etc….this one’s for those of you in New York. Admit it – after a good night out clubbing/dancing, if for the rest of the week the only form of exercise you do is lift your fingers to type, you’re bound to be sore the morning after.

Now – can most people really be arsed to book a massage therapy appointment and drag themselves over to the facility? Hardly.

Massage Zeelot

This is where Massage Zeelot comes in. What you get…? A little app for your phone, a free, professional massage table for your home (shipped directly to you), and a masseuse on demand at the snap of your fingers (or, touch of your smart phone screen).

It couldn’t be easier. They send you the massage table so this way, whichever masseuse is closest to you only has to worry about grabbing the essentials and getting over to you asap – meaning, in as little as an hour. You can book as many massages as you want, each massage lasting 60 minutes – so you can work out all those knots and kinks at your own pace.

Convenience just got a little more awesome…and I’d say that’s a damn fine way to close off any Sunday.

Stay cool. 😉

“We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.” – Galileo Galilei

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Sorry this one’s a little late – was having major technical issues throughout the day with some other things. I just want you all to remember that every post I write is not to teach you guys things – but to help you expand your minds to unlock your imaginations, realize your desires, and actualize your dreams. Success both starts, and ends, in you. No one else.

If anything I’m just here to remind you of that…and maybe speed along the process in any way I can. 😉

Speaking of speed up the process…go ahead and check out my official site and subscribe for a free eBook – it has a lot of what I discuss covered in it and MORE. It’s human nature to want more – so go ahead, indulge yourself… 🙂

Musings Episode 28: Take The Leap…

So a few weeks ago I touched on hesitation and why it can be detrimental to success…well, once you’re past the hesitation phase – there’s one more thing many people go through but never really discuss.

Procrastination.

procrastination6

Procrastination doesn’t necessarily mean laziness. It can also stem from fear of failure, and perfectionism. Many people when building their road to success can sometimes hit this wall. It’s often procrastination that leads to many people’s downfalls even if they’ve made it over the hesitation hurdle.

Yet in the end hesitation and procrastination end up with the same result – not getting things done in a timely manner or not getting things done at all. This is what you want to avoid – this is what you want to train yourself to eliminate from virtually every aspect of your life. If you’re serious about success – this should be taken into consideration and avoided just as much as hesitation.

Both leave room for missed opportunities.

Procrastination-is-opportunitys-assassin

In various aspects of your life, procrastination can tear you down, and bring you right back to square one. The objective is to remove this kind of habit from your mental framework completely.

I’m a perfectionist. Meaning when I do something – I do it well, and do it to the maximum extent of quality possible. Sometimes, when I get overwhelmed with things, mentally I become a little hazy. The easiest way to get over it I’ve found?

Break everything into steps – focus on the big picture, but break everything into steps.

A book is comprised of a bunch of words, but in the end it's still the bigger picture - a book.

A book is comprised of a bunch of words, but in the end it’s still the bigger picture – a book.

Remember – it’s about focusing on the end result – not the means to the ends. Focus on that too much and you’ll find yourself lost and out in the cold, wandering (and not in a good way).

I’m not saying dwell on all the little details either. Think of it like this – you get up in the morning. Usually, everyone has their own little routine. Wake up, stretch, make bed, wash face, brush teeth, shower, moisturize, hair, get dressed, etc.

It’s this whole intricate routine you’ve had to learn since childhood, yet you don’t even think about it because you’re on auto pilot almost the entire time….but this whole routine, is still broken into little steps and categories.

Wash face, brush teeth, shower, moisturize – these all take place in the bathroom. Getting dressed, shirts, shoes, etc – all takes place in the wardrobe/bedroom. Eat breakfast, make lunch – all in the kitchen. You see the pattern?

The best way to start is by breaking everything into categories – and then breaking objectives into little groups of 3’s. I’ve always found that by doing things 3 at a time – I blow past my deadlines with flying colors. Many believe multitasking is the way to go – I for one am completely against it. In the short run, it may pay off – but in the long run it can leave a lot of loose ends, a lot of things unfinished, and in actual fact be detrimental to your mental health.

Instead, I recommend exercising your mental health positively. Go ahead and head over to my official site and subscribe for a free eBook that can actually improve and enhance your thinking, gearing it more towards success and less on juggling 5 tables and a walrus all at once mentally.

By breaking things into 3’s, you’re doing what I call setting mini milestones. Milestones are much clearer, shorter, and smaller goals toward larger ones. Thinking of it like this, makes the work much easier and the path much more transparent. Getting one of these three things done at a time, one after the other, makes you feel more accomplished thus motivating you to do more.

…and if you’re motivated to do more, you’ll procrastinate less. It’s that simple.

The more you learn how to strategize without putting a strain on your brain, the more confidence you have in yourself. The more confidence you have in yourself, the more you’re willing and ready to dive head first into all your goals. The more willing and ready you are to do that, the more you’ll act on ideas when they come to you – and the more you act on ideas that come to you, the more you sign and seal your name for success in anything you do.

This is how you let go. Put things into action properly with a decent game plan and perseverance, and watch the end goals flourish.

Stay awesome.

For The Weekenders: Party Like A Rockstar…

You read right, this weekend is gonna be all about one thing – partying hardcore. With these three lineups, come Sunday you’ll be sure to have numerous stories that begin with “Remember that time when…” and end in “that was seriously the best thing ever.”

rockstar2

The Warm Up

Sushi. Tequila. Rock bands. Oh how awesome it would be to have all three under one roof.

But wait – you can.

Yes, dreams really do come true.

Where…? Well, it ain’t exactly Kansas.

Try Miami.

As in, Barezzito Miami.

12982_505787052834998_1596421787_n

Barezzito is a one of a kind, genuine, unique place to be. If you wanna kick off your weekend right – the first thing you’ll do is hit up Barezzito. With an epic menu, choice alcohol and awesome music, this is one place you want to be.

So your night will start out like this. You ring up a few friends – you start suggesting the usual spots…

Sumi Yakitori? Naa..did that two weeks ago.

Kapow Noodle Bar? Happened last Wednesday.

Ceviché? Been there more times than I can count.

Then it hits you….like a big slippery fish fresh off the boat, you see the light.

In all its glorious, liquor filled glory.

In all its glorious, liquor filled glory. Here’s a hankie for that tear of joy.

You and your friends decide it’s time to do it up big – so you rent that GT-R you’ve been eyeing all summer and tear through the highways before making your way over to the best spot in town and casually tossing your keys over to the valet.

You shuffle over to the bar, and check out their extensive, choice drink selection. Ideally, if you’ve brought the object of your desire along now would be the perfect time to order up that drink they’ve never heard of but dying to try. Instruct the bar tender carefully – you only get one shot at this.

From there you grab the menu so you can pace yourself for a slow drink marathon with live music and lively dancing henceforth. I suggest the Green Papaya Salad with Negimaki to follow – leave enough room for Ginger Creme Brulee, and when you find yourself sobering up from all the food you’ve been trying to shove down your neck, grab another 1, 2, or 5 at the bar while nibbling on some signature rolls to keep the stomach healthy and the buzz balanced.

This Friday, there’s only one place to be, one place to party, and one place to see – Barezzito. Attend, enjoy, and share. There’s always something to do.

The Workout

Hoping you didn’t close the bar down Friday night and are rested up and ready to go – that was just the beginning. Now it’s time to fulfill that want of yours that you were itching for weeks ago, and finally getting the chance to explore now.

So picture this:

Boats.

Casinos.

Dancing.

VIP style quarters.

It’s about time you stopped looking at this stuff in the movies and started living it in real life. Get off that couch and get into your best outfit – your Saturday night is about to get pretty insane…..ly awesome.

Mother of God....it's the holy grail.

Mother of God….it’s the holy grail.

…and by awesome I mean awesome before it was even donned a word. There’s only one way to go about this night – so read carefully.

Location: Port Miami

Transportation: Boat….okay I lied…cruise ship.

Time: 9:30. No arriving fashionably late here – unless you like trying to jump a boat only to fall straight into god knows how many feet of water.

Money: Yes. Bring about tres….cientos. Trust me – it’s worth it.

Seriously....shut up and get on the goddamn boat.

Seriously….shut up and get on the goddamn boat.

So obviously after the words “cruise ship” you can imagine how massive this “boat party” is. With just $20 round trip to get in, you get to party starting at 10 p.m. all the way until the crack of dawn. It’s like Asia all over again…except in Miami…on a boat.

Book your own cabin for a modest $60, sign up for dinner, and bring enough friends to order decent bottles of “I’ll have whatever doesn’t give me a hangover in the morning…because I’m going to get sloshed probably around 2 after dancing my ass off.” The perks and activities of Club Bimini will blow your mind probably as fast as the Kamikaze you’ll order at the bar. See now why I was trying to tell you to rest up all day Saturday? It’s good to listen to me when it comes to things like this…

With a live DJ and a casino on board, you could easily play the night out to a perfect tune – good drinks, private cabin, live DJ, casino games you’re actually good at – and the breathtaking view of Miami’s skyline not to mention the endless ocean you’ll be gazing out over.

DSC_10531

Never steered you wrong before…won’t steer you wrong on this one. Club Bimini aboard Bimini Superfast. It’s time to party….hard. Book your spot now – and get a better look over at World Red Eye.

The Cool Down

Well then….after all that sinfully good madness I’d say it’s time for a cool down.

Sort of.

Rego style.

…and if you know anything about me – especially in fitness – a cool down is really never a cool down…but an excuse for extending the fun. Next and final stop…w xyz….bar.

wxyz-bar-aloft-houston-united-states+1152_12959074085-tpfil02aw-10975

I know – their website sucks – but don’t let that fool you , let’s move on. This place reminds me a lot – and I do mean a lot of a place I often frequented in the UK, before it unpredictably shut down. From the decor, to the lighting, it simulates it almost to the tee.

I know it’s not.

I know it’s named after the end of the alphabet.

But it just feels so at home, and that’s what I like about it.

Warm, cozy, fuzzy, and neon light filled – this is one of my many happy places…and it’s about to be yours, too.

125bb9ac23b4192685372e0f079932fc

I’m a sucker for things like this…a smart sucker – but a sucker. I love the clean lines of this place, and the well thought out furniture and layout they implemented. If there’s one place to wind down in on a Sunday night – this is it.

Don’t get too crazy with the drinks – you’re winding down – not up. Order a simple G&T with a splash of lime, shaken & chilled, not stirred, pick a good spot to sit down and engage in intimate conversation –

5ff3661bff431e77d3c4a2f4c9915f98

9/10 says you’re friends will probably be either at home sleeping the prior night off or too weak from hangovers too make it out here.

Located in Aloft Miami Hotel, this is the perfect time to have a seat outside on their terrace, master your charm, and stuff your face to make up for all the nutrients you lost from the sheer amount of alcohol consumed the night before…while you’re at it though don’t forget to, you know – work on your conversation skills. Obviously.

Party like a rockstar.

“Don’t let the fear of striking out hold you back.” – Babe Ruth

Couldn’t have said it better…the whole point of life is to take chances – but if you don’t believe in yourself, you can take all the chances you want and still not succeed. It begins with yourself. Fear is fine – everyone has a little bit of it, even though it’s False Evidence Appearing Real.

It’s alright – it’s how the feeling of conquering something comes about…but whatever you’re doing, I want you to think like this – would you rather step up to the plate, and at least try your hand at hitting a home run – or not step up to the plate at all, and never know if you have it in you?

I’d take the latter – any day.

Stay confident.

Musings Episode 27: Learning To Let Go…

So I know a couple weeks ago I touched on hate for no reason….I had a hell of a good time on my birthday weekend, and I just wanted to do a follow up musing to elaborate further on how to eliminate people like that from your life…

568

Energy is what we’re made of. Everything we do, say, and hear is energy. Which is why negative words can cut, and positive ones can sooth. As humans our main goal in life is to take in as many positive experiences as humanly possible, and learn from/eliminate/avoid any negative ones.

Don’t like a movie? Walk out of the theatre. Don’t like the way someone’s talking to you? Say “STOP….no.” and walk off from them, hang up the phone. Don’t like the location you live in, the party you’re at, the sport you’re in, exercise your free will and change it. It’s all possible – we have free will, and a right to everything we desire on this planet….

positive

I know some of you may say this is at times difficult to do – I understand. “But Rego, what if it’s like this in my job, what do I do now?” While it may be trickier in a job setting, learning to let go just takes a little bit of creative thinking.

I’ll give you an example. As you all know, there’s various things I do to make cash – most of it’s web and technology based. Now I’m a pretty chill person – but when I was a kid….I was a bit of a tyrant (side note: pretty sure if anyone I knew from childhood read that, they’d say “a bit” is an understatement…ignore them). I didn’t let anyone, talk to me in any way that was disrespectful – and I spoke my mind when needed. As I got older, I learned to be a bit more charismatic…and less shoot and fire if fired at.

I could've been this guy...but I like to party too much. *nods*

I could’ve been this guy…but I like to party too much. *nods*

I developed…you know, charm.

…but in developing charm, there’s also something else I had to develop. I started reading Sun Tzu’s Art of War, and realized that sometimes, it’s best to pick and choose your battles – and if going into battle, there’s always more than one way to victory.

Hey I’m not perfect – I still slip up every now and then these days…but I’ve improved. Why…? Because I’ve learned to let some things go – learn to let some people go, and learn to let some methods of thinking go. It’s called the law of absolute abundance. Everyone’s born naturally with this, before we get thrown into the norms of society and taught there’s such a thing as lack.

A lack in money.

A lack in social options.

A lack in opportunities.

A lack in options in general, really.

As we become adults, we often try and battle this…though most just give in to it.

2815

So really, lack is taught….not hardwired. When you get this, it clicks like a light bulb in your head – or a bullet in a barrel – whichever analogy you like best. 😉 Ergo if lack is taught, then abundance can either be re-taught, or destroyed. The goal here is to keep it from getting destroyed.

Abundance mentality can be destroyed in many ways – from failures to certain other negative life experiences or people, it can be shredded down to nothing if someone doesn’t constantly have a reminder that abundance was here first, and always has been. This is what I mean about eliminating negativity as much as possible. This is what I mean about staying away from negative people – and negative experiences. This is what I mean about letting go.

419165_587951641227018_102173688_n

I’d say if there’s one bit I would change in the little snippet above, it’s spend time with genuine people – anyone can be nice. Genuine people are hard to come by.

Getting your mind to constantly think abundantly, is no easy feat. For one it’s like exercising for that killer bod – practice, practice, practice. Exercise, exercise, exercise. Train, train, train. You get the idea – you have to work practically, not just in theory. It’s about changing your self talk, and your mental imagery. I touch on both of these subjects on my official site, and a little bit about learning to inspire yourself as well – imagination is the first step to absolute abundance thinking.

Chase Amante has an article related to this as well – though it may just pertain to relationships and dating, you can take his examples and pointers, and easily apply many of them to other aspects in your life, financially and socially. It’s all about staying in the right crowd, and socializing with the right people – this is the easiest way to train yourself to think abundantly.

people

I’m sure some of you back in your grade school days – maybe even in university, used to have your own group of friends…they were people you shared the same thinking with, similar ambitions, and probably similar mentalities. Then somewhere along the line, things changed – I’ve known many people to start socializing with their co-workers, and eventually through doing that adapting their mental habits. This can be a very bad thing – I for one never believe in socializing with co-workers – it’s too close to the situation you’re in and can turn bad quickly.

Some people can initially start out as nice, wanting to get to know you. Then turn negative, abrasive, and opposing – these are what I mentioned in my last post, as psychic vampires. People who suck the happiness and good thoughts out of you – after all, misery always wants company…and that, in absolutely no way helps you.

6bdc0393c47cd00b938d0f8ee2887786

This is where I mean pick your battles. This is what I mean when I say do a little creative thinking. The easiest way? Zone out. Husbands do it all the time (sorry married brethren) – if they don’t feel like listening to something their wife is saying – they miraculously gain the ability to go into a vegetative state in relation to listening.

If you’re not listening, or remotely paying attention – there’s nothing to take in…and if there’s nothing to take in – there’s nothing to let go of….and then it’s problem solved. Like I said – this is not at all easy at first. It takes persistence, dedication, and commitment to your own self talk. When you learn to take care of yourself – you learn to take care of others – and in turn learn to let go. You can’t control other people’s mouths – nor their actions, or thoughts…but you can control your thoughts, your mouth, and your actions.

This isn’t the Gandhi approach at all – so don’t think I’m going there….when it’s time to stand up for yourself, you stand up for yourself and stand 10 feet tall…but sometimes, it’s better to let go of and mentally discard things. Get mad about it, kick, scream, punch, do whatever you need to do – and then find a solution. Letting go is the first part of the solution, and the first action – moving on and creating an answer to the solution are steps two and three.

letgo

Once you’ve got this down pact – you’ll know exactly what I mean about letting go. Check out my Make It Mondays posts on my official site, and subscribe for a free eBook that’ll blow your mind. Take the posts plus the book, study them, and then apply the reasoning and exercises. You’ve gotta do this for at least a month – Every. Single. Day. Come hell or high water – every day. No exceptions. It’s gonna be like crafting that insane body – but the work is worth the pay off…and don’t beat yourself up if you slip up.

The race isn’t over until the last lap. The track is meant to be conquered – not feared.

For The Weekenders: La Urbana, Cupcake ATMs, Escape to Okinawa

So as you all know I haven’t been feeling too sharp these past couple days…but that doesn’t stop me from giving all you the 411 on the best spots for this weekend – and an interesting list it is. Enjoy 😉

Let’s start with the beloved city of San Francisco….if you happen to be in the area this weekend, make sure you head down to La Urbana – a special little place that’s every intention is to draw you in and have you feel the warm embrace of what contemporary Mexico City is like today – and enough Mezcal to make your head spin. In a good way. Obviously. Not the…hungover, jesusgodwhy type way.

La Urbana 1

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not saying abuse the Mezcal. No – respect the Mezcal – it’s about as serious as drinking Kava. Yes, that serious. Just be sure to try out all their delicious food while you’re sipping away to your heart’s content.

La Urbana 2

I’d like to think of this as a good date spot. Why? Well, for starters – the food. Second – the drink. Obviously. Third – the place is jam-packed with history and originality. Every single detail put into La Urbana was carefully thought out, leaving no room for “well that’s just there because we thought it’d look cool.”

Aesthetically people from both Mexico and San Francisco banded together and went from little Mexican town to town, looking for the best pieces of furniture and items that could tell a story about the culture behind the restaurant, then infused all that with local San Franciscan flare. These guys weren’t playing around.

La Urbana 3

As for the food – they stuck closely to Mexican style cooking and combined that with the insanely great local ingredients in the Bay area. Every little thing that’s been put into this restaurant, was done with thought an dedication. La Urbana – grab your closest friends and head over – you’ve gotta check it out.

If you already tried La Urbana’s dessert menu, then this one’s not for you. No – no more, go back to fat camp. You’ve eaten enough today.

If you haven’t though and instead just left stuffed and tipsy with a need of a bit more food in your system to sober up, then read on – because you’re about to discover something in Dallas that’s going to rock your world.

Or stomach.

Maybe both.

Either one.

Sprinkles CUpcake ATM 1

Anyway – one of these things in this photo is real. The other is not.

Unless you believe in Batman – in which case, sorry.

But yes – that is a cupcake ATM you spy with your little eyes…and it can be found in a few places – one of which is Dallas. The guys over at Sprinkles Cupcakes thought they would gift you with this wonderful little charm – as in, 24 hour access to freshly made cupcakes (and now cookies!) all with the push of a button. Well touch screen really – but you get the idea.

Sprinkles CUpcake ATM 2

So when you’re feeling like a late night snack and one of their many bakeries is closed, you can hit up their ATMs in not just, Dallas, not just Chicago, but in Beverly Hills as well. There’s never an inconvenient time to cure your sweet tooth, except for at the gym…and Sprinkles Cupcakes beats Dunkin Donuts any day.

All this talk of convenience and ATMs that dispense gourmet food is reminding me of Japan. Personally, whenever I get really, really stressed – I always get a strong urge to go to J-Land and relax – I’m a minimalist – I need time to get away from the craziness of out west sometimes. Japan’s all about minimalism. Jusandi is just the place to do that.

Jusandi 2

Jusandi is all about clean lines, and quiet times. I need that. You need that – and with it being right on the coastline of an unforgettable remote tropical island, Jusandi fulfills that in a way most places can’t.

So what do you do? Well first of all brush up on your knowledge of Japanese. Or just use your auto-translator in Google Chrome.

From there? You make a reservation, book a flight to Japan (Air France is quite good, I’ve flown with them many times), make your way over to the hotel and plop your bags down in your room.

Jusandi 4

First – shower. If you haven’t eaten – do so at their restaurant then relax ocean side while sipping away on your choice of cocktail(s). Finally, head back to your room, take a nap, then shuffle over to the spa. Yes, the spa. Where you’ll be pampered and primed to the point where you begin questioning whether or not there really is royal blood running through those veins of yours.

Jusandi 5

If you so happen to find our there is – send me a check will you – you know, “Finder’s Fee.” 😉

Stay awesome.

“Difficulties are just…

Musings: Quote Wednesdays…

“Difficulties are just things to overcome, after all.” – Ernest Shackleton

Sorry about the delay guys – wasn’t feeling like too much of myself health wise. Bit better now. I’d say this Quote Wednesdays’ quote is pretty spot on.

Difficulties really are just things to overcome…and really if you shift your perspective – most, if not all games that were ever made – sports, gambling, and especially video games – within all them lie a touch of difficulty..and you know what? We feel good when we overcome it.

So just think – if we applied that to our everyday life – really, the only thing we would have to supply to ourselves post victory is a reward. Think up a reward for yourself, and it’ll make any difficulty seem like just a challenge – instead of a stressful time.

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 26: Go Big or Go Home….

Often, I set certain milestones in my life. One in particular is something I’ve done since I was a child. I’ve always had the philosophy of if you’re gonna do something, you might as well do it right, and do it big – and I still stick with that method of thinking today.

So for this musing, let’s really get down to the nitty gritty of that.

Life is meant to be lived. We’re meant to play hard – and work easy. The new rich know this – and they along with every new generation that’s popping up will soon master this skill to near perfection.

Life is about making an impression on the world – no matter how big or how small – as long as that impression matters to you.

takeyourplace

I’m not saying you have to get out there and start a peace movement, become the next Gandhi, or even Genghis Khan….you don’t even have to be famous. Making an impression on the world doesn’t even have to include being known by a lot of people.

There are tons of people who make large differences every day who will never be known by the mass majority – but they still live life large. Let me elaborate on this just to make it crystal clear:

Making an impression, is about living your life the way you want to – and doing it in as big a fashion as possible. It’s not about anyone else. Period.

When we’re teenagers, we all at some point have this “unstoppable” fearlessness in us – there’s no reason why we have to grow out of it. Growing up can sometimes be detrimental – to our imagination, our confidence, and our “can do” attitude.

You’re probably wondering – if I’m saying it’s not about being internationally known – then how on earth do you go big exactly…?

Well it’s fairly simple –

You do all the things you want to do.

without hesitation, and without worry. Dream as big as you can possibly fathom – then dream bigger. Perform as best as you think you can – then perform better. Be as best as you can – then be better.

It’s all very simple…and should be kept simple.

You don’t let anyone hold you back – mentally or literally.

You don’t let anyone tear down your thoughts/ideas – that includes about yourself.

You don’t let anyone tell you what level YOU should be at (i.e. you’re still a baby, you’re not supposed to be this young and have this, how is it possible you got this, how about just doing this/being this way).

When I dream – I dream BIG.

When I get stuff done – I make the end result BIG.

When I make my own style – I make the BEST.

When I set goals for myself – I don’t stop until I reach them.

This is what I mean when I say go big – Either give it your all, or give nothing at all. There is no in between – and if there is – if you are stuck in that grey area – sometimes it’s best to ask yourself:

Do I wanna be a race track success? Or an on the fence loser?

Ask yourself this, and I guarantee I know which one you’ll pick.

Stay awesome.
