Musings Episode 71: Fearless…

First off – really hope you guys have been doing alright – thanks for the emails asking where I’ve been – makes me feel appreciated just as much as I appreciate you. 😉

I must admit, lately, there have been some inner demons I’ve been wrestling with.

Sorry about that.

Well, not really – if I hadn’t, I’d probably have stopped writing altogether – now that would be something to apologize for.

Right, back to demons – it’s a bit of an interesting discovery…ready? Start.

Musings Episode 71: Fearless…

So demons – we all have them. This month has been a trying one – been having to take my own advice on a handful of things, and I’ve gotta say, it’s been a delicate balancing act.

There’s a time you reach in various stages of your life when sometimes you just feel overwhelmed – not from the amount of things you’ve got going on, but just a collective series of events that have happened.

There was a time when I used to think that “nothing just happens” – frankly, these days I’d say that’s a load of shit – at least the way I used to think of it.

Things happen, but there’s always a root from where those things originate.

It’s not about things “just” happening, but why they happened and how they got the momentum to happen in the first place – how they got the chance.

Zoom in on that last word – chance.

what matter is this be fearless malcolm mclaren rego's life fearless quotes, Musings Episode 71 Fearless, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 71 Fearless Rego's Life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 71 Fearless, fearless, fearless quotes, how to overcome fear, fear, thoughts, life, fearlessness, how to be fearless, how to beat fear, bear grylls quotes, malcolm mclaren quotes, rego's life quotes, fear quotes, fearlessness quotes

You take chances, and give chances. Give something a “chance” to happen, and you can help or hinder yourself – all depending on the circumstances.

Let me be straight with you – there will be times, no matter how perfectly you plan, that you’ll run into obstacles.

The question is how you handle those “obstacles” or more accurately, situations.

This is where the essence of life lies –

10% of life consists of what’s happening.

90% consists of how you handle it.

It’s such a simple formula every once in a while you’ve gotta bring it back to memory again and again.

You’ve gotta develop a sort of fearlessness within yourself to take whatever’s thrown at you with a cool head.

i feel myself becoming the fearless person i have dreamt of being janelle monae rego's life fearless quotes, Musings Episode 71 Fearless, Rego's Life, Musings Episode 71 Fearless Rego's Life, Rego's Life Musings Episode 71 Fearless, fearless, fearless quotes, how to overcome fear, fear, thoughts, life, fearlessness, how to be fearless, how to beat fear, bear grylls quotes, malcolm mclaren quotes, rego's life quotes, fear quotes, fearlessness quotes

Mind you, it’s no easy feat.

Christ, it’s no easy feat no matter how much you study the social sciences, psychology, train yourself on optimism, or any of that jazz.

But once you get it – once you understand how to acquire your own version of fearlessness, where you can take whatever life throws at you – guess what?

Suddenly the things that are thrown at you, stop being thrown.

Or don’t feel like they’re being thrown at you at all.

Suddenly, they’re no longer crises, or headaches…no longer are they challenges or obstacles.

You no longer look at them as road blocks.

You develop a sort of filtration system, where after a while you just understand it’s something you must find a solution to – and start equating these “crises” to simple math problems. Or is it chemistry? Let’s say, both.

It’s just about finding the right formula.

Keeping a cool head.

That’s the fearlessness you can eventually build.

It can’t be taught directly – it’s just something you’ve gotta keep in mind while taking in all the important components.

Not even I can teach it to you – but I can give you some pretty damn good tools to use during your journey.

The key thing to understand is this – fearlessness, starts from within. Just like happiness.

If you look for it externally, you will never find it.

The basis of these two things is peace of mind. Somehow, they all seem to fall into place at different times, sometimes lose their way, but overall find their place back with each other.

Don’t sweat it. You are your biggest critic – so just take the spotlight off your faults for a bit, and remember – life isn’t meant to be lived worrying.

Life’s meant to be lived enjoying.

Musings Episode 70: Balance…

It’s been a pretty unproductive weekend for me…not saying that time spent was wasted – it was indeed not.

…and somehow, I kind of needed this unproductivity. Or at least I think I did.

In saying that – yes, I do realize I blew off writing last week’s “For The Weekenders” – but don’t sweat it – this week’s is going to be a very special one, largely having to do with squeezing out the last bits of this awesome August weather we’ve been having.

For now though I wanna talk about balance. *shrugs* Let’s start.

Musings Episode 70: Balance….

Musings Episode 70 Balance, Rego's Life Musings Episode 70 Balance, Musings Episode 70 Balance Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings of a Quintessential Entrepreneur, balance, balance in life, how to balance your life, introspection, thoughts, life, chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on, keep calm and carry on, dealing with life, self-improvement, thoughts of a quintessential writer

This is more of a follow up really from last week’s post regarding slowing down, enjoying life, all that jazz – it’s parallel to it, but not right in line with it.

The kind of balance I’m talking about is the type where there are times in a person’s life where, whether they like it or not, they’ve gotta keep themselves balanced – especially if they’re going through stressful situations.

You’ve gotta take the time, energy, and mental strength, to try and steer yourself back on course – to remember what it is you’re doing, where it is your life is going, then assess and rearrange if things aren’t to your liking.

It can be hard as shit, if you’re not ready for it – or it can be insanely easy, if you know how to let go.

But letting go is the trickiest part. It’s a delicate distribution or, well, balance of saying “fuck it” while still making sure you’re headed in the right direction.

So many things in life can leave us distracted – forgetting that when it gets down to the nitty gritty, the bare bones, the core of it all – no matter how many things happen in life, you’ve still gotta remember that this is YOUR life, and that you have to care about WHERE it’s going and WHAT is happening to, or in it.

Musings Episode 70 Balance, Rego's Life Musings Episode 70 Balance, Musings Episode 70 Balance Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Episodic Musings of a Quintessential Entrepreneur, balance, balance in life, how to balance your life, introspection, thoughts, life, chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on, keep calm and carry on, dealing with life, self-improvement, thoughts of a quintessential writer, the best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life euripides rego's life balance quotes

This is the kind of balance I’m talking about.

You can’t beat yourself up about when you get off course either.

I mean, you can, to kind of give yourself a kick in the ass, get that motivation going again – but you’ve gotta be careful not to do it too much.

There are days when you can pull the covers over your head, pretty much sending the message to everything and everyone to “fuck off,” but you only wanna do that sparingly, just enough to give yourself a chance to exercise some introspection – time to pause and reflect.

You can go out there and hit the sauce, but don’t do it to the point where those demons you’ve had locked away deep inside of you get a chance to come out and fuck with you – that’s not the way to get rid of them…that shit’s like a pressure pot, you’ve gotta let it off slow.

You can even do the opposite of all the “bad” habits to knock you back onto your feet, like becoming a gym rat or going pro-health when it comes to food.

But everything in moderation – moderation is key.

Perhaps it seems like I’m rambling, maybe I am – just think of this as one of those sit down sessions you have with someone and you both just kind of get shit off your chest.

I’ve never really been a cynic – but then I wouldn’t say I’m 100% optimist either.

I just believe there are certain steps a person takes in order to carve out that ideal life they want.

Human kindness is big. Focus is big. Having goals to reach is huge. Compassion is huge. Remembering where you came from and giving yourself little self-assessments at least once a month is massive.

You’ve gotta think of your life like a canvas – you can paint whatever you want with it, with an array of colors, brushes, oils, and styles. If you’re not getting the gist of that – simply put, you can do whatever you want, because you’ve always got OPTIONS. Options, are what really allow balance.

When you realize this, though it may be challenging at first, in certain situations you’ll come to understand that it’s not the situation that defines you – but how you handle the situation.

Handle the situation with the right amount of balance, and you’ll weather the storm.

Focus too much on the situation though, as if it’s something that’s molded and created your life – and you’ll only end up fucking yourself over.

Introspection is key.

Understanding is key.

Mental discipline it critical.

Musings Episode 69: Slow Down…

I was out and about at the park last week, and while waiting for someone to arrive I was meeting, took the chance to have a seat and look up at the sky.

Man, what a sight. Blue skies, white clouds, perfect amount of sunshine.

The whole thing prompted me to gear this week’s episodic musing towards one thing: slowing down and really recognizing life.

Musings Episode 69: Slow Down…

Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Rego's Life Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Musings Episode 69 Slow Down Rego's Life, Rego's Life, slow down, what's the rush, enjoy life, how to enjoy life, life goes by pretty fast, ferris beuller, how to avoid the rat race, stop and smell the roses, you only live once, life, thoughts, clouds wallpaper

Often times so many people have their heads down looking at their smartphones, or looking straight ahead, rarely does anyone look up anymore.

But really, when you take the time to look up – that’s when time really stops.

So often day to day life feels like such a rush, yet so often it’s merely just an illusion held together by habitual tendencies and societal norms of the “rat race.”

Rarely do people realize life goes at a leisurely pace – but like the finishing line in Ferris Bueller, if we don’t stop and look around once in a while – we could easily miss it, as at the same time, it doesn’t wait for us.

I remember there was a time when I used to work crazy hours.

I mean, 12-14 hour days. It was insane.

Then I realized I wasn’t living at all – just existing.

I wasn’t living, because I wasn’t getting a chance to actually do anything with my days. It was so bad it was interfering with my social and family life.

This was a very short period in my life where for a moment, just for a moment, somehow I let myself lose sight of the vision and get into a “rut.”

Hey – I’m not perfect – even I lose sight sometimes – but it’s all a part of keeping yourself on course.

Fortunately I woke up and realised it – in ample enough time to get back to what matters most – friends, family, and actually enjoying your life.

Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Rego's Life Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Musings Episode 69 Slow Down Rego's Life, Rego's Life, slow down, what's the rush, enjoy life, how to enjoy life, life goes by pretty fast, ferris beuller, how to avoid the rat race, stop and smell the roses, you only live once, life, thoughts
Aside from the instance of waiting on my friend I managed to stumble across an old movie in my collection as well (don’t judge me), “The Devil Wears Prada.”

I’d not watched it in years but decided to give it a look and by the end of it realized just how much that movie drove home the exact point I’m making in this post now.

Slowing down and not rushing gives you a chance to actually assess your life moment by moment, while enjoying it day to day.

Keep in mind, slowing down doesn’t mean becoming lazy – but instead just taking the time to notice the world around you, compared to getting so caught up in the daily routine of making/creating money and any other repetitive task.

It’s all about working to live, not the other way around…and frankly, if anyone told you we’re in this life the just waste it away 8-9 hours a day at a desk, that person deserves a slap.

Humans are so individual and are given so much free will, it’s a wonder why so few stop to take the time to enjoy that power they have.

I’d say the “rush” of daily life starts with the mind though – that gnawing feeling of always being busy with something or having something you’ve gotta do before a certain time, the nervousness of wondering if there’s anything you’ve forgotten, left out, didn’t think about.

The moment you give yourself a chance to STOP thinking – is the moment you BEGIN thinking about everything that actually matters.

Then you realize…life isn’t as busy as it seems.

It’s not as hectic as you think it is.

…and it doesn’t have to be as crazy as everyone believes it should be.

Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Rego's Life Musings Episode 69 Slow Down, Musings Episode 69 Slow Down Rego's Life, Rego's Life, slow down, what's the rush, enjoy life, how to enjoy life, life goes by pretty fast, ferris beuller, how to avoid the rat race, stop and smell the roses, you only live once, life, thoughts, you were born with potential rumi quotes rego's life quotes

Life is about slowing down, understanding your priorities, acting on what matters most to you, cooperating with other people who have your best interest, exercising human kindness, and ENJOYING all this world has to offer.

Once your start appreciating the simpler things in life, the rest comes easy.

I guarantee it.

Hope everyone’s had a great weekend…

Musings Episode 68: Recognise Your Value…

Last week was pretty interesting. I’d met up with an old friend and we talked about various subjects – one that lingered on my mind was the discussion of insecurity.

I thought about it for a bit, reflecting on all the experiences I’d had with people encountered who had insecure tendencies. We’ve all got them, at some point – just different degrees. Even the most profound narcissist has a weak spot.

Really when you think a bit deeper on it, insecurity mostly stems from fears or uncertainty – past experiences, people, patterns, thought processes. If not taken care of, nipped in the bud, it can grow, like a virus.

It can lead to a lot of unfortunate habits, such as nervousness. A feeling of uneasiness with a setting, person, or people.

If not taken care of, it can really screw up someone’s life. Wanna know what I mean? Read on…

Musings Episode 68: Recognise Your Value…

I’ve dealt with insecure people in the past – friends, family, lovers, relationships. Quite a delicate matter – it’s not something you can be insensitive about, nor is it something you can “fix” for the other party. It’s a fine line to walk when you make the decision to either associate with someone who openly lets you know about it, or whom you try and help through it.

Because really, it boils down to them – they, and only they, have the power to restore their self-confidenceassuredness, certainty.

I’d say the biggest thing insecurity comes from is not recognising one’s own value.

This is probably one of the most important steps in life, in regards to becoming your own person, knowing what you want, knowing how you want your life to go, to be.

You’ve gotta establish some type of grading system for yourself – what you will and what you won’t accept from life, from people, from everything. You have to set your value through understanding your tolerance levels, what makes you feel good and what doesn’t – and whether or not you’re willing to take the necessary steps to eliminate the latter when need be. This is inclusive of everything – social life, fitness level, diet, habits – everything.

Really, life is just a string of moments – insecurity somehow stems from a string of unfortunate ones. So you’ve gotta take the time to pick carefully the things that make you happy – the things that are HEALTHY for you.

Come to know what you find is healthy and beneficial for you, and you’ll come to understand your value. You’ll set the drawing line. You’ll eliminate unnecessary ties – you’ll establish, and maintain your power.

Now when I say power, I don’t mean who has the upper-hand – no, don’t think of it like that. I mean power in the sense that, while maintaining your value, you also command and maintain a certain level of respect from people, for yourself.

There are a lot of people you encounter in your lifetime – but there are three main categories that all people you encounter can be classified in – people that are there for you during certain times, help you/enhance you through certain times, and put you in unfortunate times.

Command and maintain the level of respect you desire, and you’ll maintain power to choose who you WANT in your life, and who you need to cut OUT, of your life.

It’s very simple.

Come to understand that power and respect are interlinked, and you’ll come to understand value.

Come to understand value, and you’ll come to understand self-confidence.

Come to understand self-confidence, and…well, insecurity is no longer existent nor a word in your vocabulary. 😉

Musings Episode 67: Resilience…

Going through some old DVDs I had stowed away I ended up coming across the movie Alfie (2004) this weekend – the one with Jude Law. Thought it’d be some pretty good background noise so popped it into the PS3 and continued organising.

There’s a funny little thing in the film where Alfie’s constantly expanding his vocabulary via a “word calendar,” where each day of the year provides a new word inclusive of definition for the user’s education – and entertainment.

Alfie mid-film arrives at the word “resilience.”

Whether in terms of substance, subject, or object, the definition of the word pretty much means one thing – the ability to “bounce back” or recover quickly after being stretched, bent, knocked back, or encountering difficult or pressing situations.

Musings Episode 67: Resilience

Resilience really is something, when you think about it. It’s a quality that grows over time, slowly progressing yet never ceasing to improve its form.

What’s the clear-cut, well-defined stuff that actually makes resilience, in the psychological sense though?

The ability to regulate emotion.

Keeping your head in check and spirits high.

Optimism.

Looking at failure as feedback, instead of a setback.

Or, as I like to simply put it, the fine tuned ability to hone in and look through the clouds, realizing the outlined light past them – you know what I’m talking about – throw on a pair of shades and you can see it crystal clear.

Starting off, building up resilience can be a bit like converting putty to chewing gum.

Think on that for a minute – putty will shape and form to whichever way it’s pushed – no resistance, no independence, no “spine.” Putty is pliable, you can work with it easily – but it’s not much use when you need to get a heavy-duty job done, and it’s not much use when a bit of rain comes along – it deteriorates quite quickly if it doesn’t get a chance to dry. It’s for the finish work.

Now think about chewing gum. Chewing gum starts out soft. It’s also easy to shape however you want…but the more you chew, the tougher it becomes. Chew it long enough and eventually it becomes so tough it hurts your jaw – its resilience to your teeth trying to deteriorate it builds up slowly but surely. Burst its bubble and it comes back stronger.

This is where you ask yourself – is your resilience like putty – or gum?

Are you the type of person to wallow in pain, the past – or are you the type to build yourself up and out of those things, focus on what really matters?

Musings Episode 67 Resilience, Rego's Life Musings Episode 67 Resilience, Musings Episode 67 Resilience Rego's Life, Rego's Life, resilience, resilience definition, definition of resilience, resiliency definition, definition resilience, resilience meaning, resilient meaning meaning of resilience, meaning of resilient, resilient means, resilient temperament meaning, define resilience, resilience defined, resilience quotes, quotes on resilience, resilience quote, resilient quotes, psychological resilience, resilience psychology, resilience definition in psychology, positive psychology resilience, psychology resilience, resilience training, resiliency training

Your resilience is your key to success. Your management of emotions is your key to success. Your ability to focus on what matters, and forget what’s useless is your ticket to a relentless drive and desire to consistently go forward in life.

Your resilience is another muscle to build among the endless amount of both large and small muscles you already have – only difference is it’s a mental one.

Musings Episode 66: Introspection…

So apparently, this is my 200th post.

WOO.

Life has been very interesting, over the past month or so. In going through a bit of writer’s burnout, though it has disrupted my work flow, it’s also given me time to really just sit back and think on a few things. Think on nothing, but think on everything. That sort of grey area where you have everything and nothing figured out at the same time.

At the moment, I’m more of the latter than the former.

Musings Episode 66 Introspection, Rego's Life Musings Episode 66 Introspection, Rego's Life Musings Episode 66 Introspection, Rego's Life, introspection, life, thoughts, regoslife, everything, nothing, emotion, chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on, laugh, humor

At the moment, I’m more wrapped up in avoiding stress as much as possible and finding everything and anything that’s constructive to keep me in a good mood.

Sometimes it’s a bit of a task – but really, times like these are moments when you can actually grade yourself on how well you cope with life.

Eventually, you just get to a point where you’re fucking tired.

Tired of stressing out, tired of focusing on the negative, tired of concerning yourself with solutions…tired of worrying, tired of having highs and lows – just, tired.

I’ve been told before by many I have a way with words – something I pride myself in.

I enjoy helping people find solutions and apparently judging by past experience aren’t too shabby at giving someone a pep talk to make them feel better.

….but what happens when the motivator needs motivation?

What happens when the person who talks everyone else up needs a pep talk themselves?

I’m slowly starting to acknowledge not all the time do I actually take the time to stop and sort my own wandering thoughts out, and understand that can be an unhealthy habit – probably why the writer’s burnout happened in the first place.

It’s been a while since I’ve properly just stopped everything and checked under my own mind’s hood to make sure the engine’s still in check – hence now, neglect has that “check engine” light flashing.

But once it’s all sorted out, everything will be running like new again – a person can go through these moments and think it’s the end of the world, when in fact it really is just a moment that’ll soon pass.

Kind of reminds me of the adage “this too shall pass.”

After a while you realize it – whatever’s going on – a mental block, a situation, an argument, even your own insecurities or thoughts running wild – it all comes to an end.

Eventually, you just get so tired of dwelling you really don’t give a fuck anymore.

Eventually, instead of doing what so many others are expected to do under stress, sometimes the best thing is to just laugh or chuck it in the fuck it bucket and move on.

Why?

Because at that moment, it’s the only thing that makes sense to do.

Be kind to yourself by being kind to your body and your mind – don’t stress. You’ll only make yourself sick – take some time out to really get to know you, and eventually nothing else will matter.

You’ll find yourself not worrying about outcomes or reactions, others opinions or even next week – you’ll learn to filter.

Keep focusing on sorting your own self out, focusing on what you want, and nothing else. Sort yourself out first, and you can help sort out others after.

Take a little time to listen to who matters most – you.

One more thing – I know I’ve been slack on the For The Weekenders posts – bear with me – there’s a pretty awesome one coming your way this Thursday. Promise.

Musings Episode 65: Sleep and Success

Sleep is one of those things people either get too much or too little of. I’ve always been in the group of the latter. Never been one to oversleep, makes me feel unproductive.

But sleep, is actually one of many critical keys to success.

Musings Episode 65: Sleep and Success

Oddly enough there is more and more information out there about how employers these days don’t necessarily understand that and have a tendency to push their employees to the limits.

Yet what they don’t realize is right in front of them – adequate rest leads to more productivity. It’s the same when people take breaks more often during work – they can function better…and considering the human brain really only concentrates on something for no more than 15-17 minutes, this makes perfect sense.

Adequate sleep doesn’t just help you focus better though – it also keeps your weight down, among many other things. Throughout the day, a toxin builds up in your spine, and while you rest, and only while you rest, does it release. So lack of rest causes the body to stress, which puts on weight.

Getting enough rest allows better mental and physical alertness, a heightened sense of awareness, sharper thinking, and a better mood.

Not everyone is depressed because of things that go on in their life – but because of overworking and under resting. It’s so elementary.

But alas, with a simple solution comes a simple reason – exploitation of a vulnerability. What’s lacking in some companies today is consideration – consideration of your fellow man – in his work, his home life, and his own personal well being.

Get enough rest and you’ll start to see small but important things change in your life for the better. Take care of yourself first, and it becomes much easier to take care of everything else.

On the flip side, oversleep can be a negative too. Going into too much of a dormant state can cause you to be lethargic and become lazy.

10 hours is the limit for me – and that’s only if I’m really tired. Other than that a good 8 hours works out fine.

In fitness, it’s ESPECIALLY important to get adequate rest so the muscles you’ve been working can heal up at a much faster rate – you don’t grow in the gym, but instead while you’re asleep.

Too much rest though and just eating will cause you to store fat.

So really all in all it boils down to moderation. Do anything in moderation and you’ll be alright. Eat in moderation, sleep, work, etc…just make sure you don’t overdo it – or neglect it.

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 64: Writer’s Burnout…

First off – hope everyone had an absolutely epic weekend.

Second of all – I know it’s been a minute since you’ve all seen me on here.

To be honest, I encountered a pretty bad case of writer’s burnout…there’s really no excuse for it – all that can be said is I’ve finally made it back onto the old writing chair and hopefully won’t be falling off it again. So hopefully this post will be just as refreshing for you as it has been for me…

Musings Episode 64: Writer’s Burnout…

But wait – then this got me curious – who else has gotten writer’s burnout? Or even the more commonly known writer’s block? How have you dealt with it? How long did it last?

Keep in mind, writer’s burnout is completely different from writer’s block. I’ll be going further into detail about it tomorrow on Make it Mondays – but for now there is a really great, brief post I came across from Stella Tarakson that sums it up quite easily (also, thanks to Drew Coffman for the awesome photo).

I know this sounds rather cliché, the whole conflicted writer bit, but it does have some validity to it. Writing is all about energy and a clear head.

When a person doesn’t have energy, not a single word can be plucked from their brain…

Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout, Rego's Life Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout, Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout Rego's Life, Rego's Life, writer's burnout, writer's block, writers block, overcoming writer's block

…and when a person has too much going on in their mind and can’t focus – filtering a simple paragraph out of all the “noise” can be like trying to direct traffic with no street lights in L.A.

Whenever I write, my surroundings have got to be serene, even if I’m writing about some pretty exciting stuff. For more active environments, I’d much rather make a vlog post of it or a simple spitball audio session.

There’s a sort of structure, even to the most casual writing, you know? You may not try and label it – heck, I know I don’t like to label it – but there is something about writing that in order to do it, in order to get your thoughts on paper, each and every writer has to have their own way or “style” of doing just that.

Writing for me comes down to getting as close to how I would usually talk in person – aka write like you talk. I think it’s the best form of writing as you can really connect with your reader, when all the formalities have been stripped down.

my aim is to put down on paper what i see ernest hemingway quotes rego's life, Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout, Rego's Life Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout, Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout Rego's Life, Rego's Life, writer's burnout, writer's block, writers block, overcoming writer's block

It’s like it breaks out of the typical mold most writing schools say you must adhere to – and for a moment, even if it’s a short one, you’re vulnerable…your words are vulnerable. Naked. Raw. Unfiltered.

You can talk about whatever it is you can think about, and say yay or nay as to whether or not you want to write about what everyone else is talking about.

Complete control over your own train of thought.

That’s what I love about writing. That’s why I do it. It allows you to educate, excite, inform, project, debate, and ponder over so much more than if you were to have a typical conversation with someone…because the thing with conversation is, usually it entails one party talking while the other is just waiting to speak as well.

Rarely is it that one actually listens in conversation…but when you listen, that’s when you connect with that person.

I write, because while I’m the observer in many sit-down social settings, it (writing) gives me the opportunity to pour my every thought out, uninterrupted.

there is nothing to writing all you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed, ernest hemingway quotes, rego's life quotes, Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout, Rego's Life Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout, Musings Episode 64 Writer's Burnout Rego's Life, Rego's Life, writer's burnout, writer's block, writers block, overcoming writer's block

…and it’s one of the most freeing things next to working out for me.

So now that I’m feeling back up to snuff to “bleed on paper” again, Rego’s Life will be back on schedule once more…and don’t forget to look out for tomorrow’s Make it Mondays, where you’ll see some pretty great tips as to how I personally deal with writer’s burnout and a great way you can, too. Until then…

Musings Episode 63: Time…

…..I know ironic title right? Albeit this one being up late, I wanted to share some thoughts about time.

In the past it’s always been stressed how important time is, how time is money and money is time, how time is more than just time but an investment, and so on.

But time is also a sort of one way road – or more accurately string of bridges. What do I mean? Well…read on.

Musings Episode 63: Time…

Musings Episode 63 Time, Rego's Life Musings Episode 63 Time, Musings Episode 63 Time Rego's Life, Rego's Life, life, thought, time, emotion, bridges burned, don't waste time, invest your time wisely, steve jobs quotes, time quotes, life quotes

The reason I say time is a “string” of bridges is due to the fact that every decision or action we take in life is something that takes up time – and once it’s done there’s really no looking back.

This is why you always hear those little classic quotes that encourage you to leave the “what ifs” out of your life, and are constantly reminding you that without change you’ll never grow.

Change is intrinsically linked with time – anything or anyone that changes invests a certain amount of time in doing so – it all takes time and a willingness to do so.

Scars heal over time or are forgotten.

Health is restored (or changes) over time and is improved.

Success happens over time and inevitably changes or improves lifestyle.

Every single thing you do is linked with time.

Each decision you make alters something in the future.

I wouldn’t say there’s no going back, but as far as human intelligence is concerned there’s also no reversal of time – no “turning back the clock.” Or at least humans haven’t figured out how to yet…

Hang on a minute – that last bit sounded really “definite” and realistic – let me clarify.

your time is limited steve jobs quote rego's life quotes time quotes, Musings Episode 63 Time, Rego's Life Musings Episode 63 Time, Musings Episode 63 Time Rego's Life, Rego's Life, life, thought, time, emotion, bridges burned, don't waste time, invest your time wisely, steve jobs quotes, time quotes, life quotes

In other words, there are decisions people make and characters people mold that can always be changed or improved, but as far as undoing certain things the change that was already done will always be there as a memory – or a lesson.

This can range from sticking together with family, changing careers, getting married, or joining a sport.

Even if we undo those said changes, as far as time is concerned they happened and are now imprinted as a memory – some forget, some always remember.

But like an arrow released from the bend of the bow, time is spent the same way – once it’s gone, it’s gone. Like a bridge burnt immediately after you’ve driven over it, there’s no getting it back.

You can rebuild the bridge.

You can reload the bow.

But the original bridge burnt or the first arrow spent can’t be taken back.

This is why throughout my life I’ve always been considerably careful about who I associate with, what actions I take, what memories I make…basically how I invest my time.

Even writing everyday for this blog and the official site is an investment of time that’s made.

when i give you my time i'm giving you a portion of my life that i will never get back so don't waste it rego's life quotes time quotes, Musings Episode 63 Time, Rego's Life Musings Episode 63 Time, Musings Episode 63 Time Rego's Life, Rego's Life, life, thought, time, emotion, bridges burned, don't waste time, invest your time wisely, steve jobs quotes, time quotes, life quotes

…it’s quite healthy to do so, being careful is. Not pessimistic – just careful. Don’t misinterpret what you just read as choosing to live in a sheltered environment – but the same way eating healthy and exercising lead to a great looking, healthy body, is the same way being in healthy environments, associating with positive (and like minded) people who have your best interest at heart, and doing what you really want to do in life, increases your positive yield on time spent.

So just remember, your time is precious – and just like how there are some stores that you can’t get a refund at after spending money, so goes the same with your time…ergo choose how you “spend” it wisely.

Just a little inspiration to kick off your week. 😉

As always…

Stay awesome.

Musings Episode 62: Keep Your Head Up…

Hey everyone, I know this one’s up super late, so I’m gonna be honest. At the moment I’m going through some pretty heavy stuff, so really just trying to keep pushing forward and move positively from day to day in life.

Usually because of the premise of this blog I try NOT to focus on what’s going on in my life and more about thoughts, lessons, and awesome experiences, but I thought my dedicated readers at least deserved an explanation as to why I’ve been sort of on and off when it comes to posting on time.

Anyway, this week’s musing just thought I’d get a few things off my chest and encourage any of you who may be going through difficult situations to hang tight and know that you’re never too tired to go back into battle. Ready? Armor up…

Musings Episode 62: Keep Your Head Up…

Everyone, and I do mean everyone at some point (actually, at times multiple points) has some rough patches in their lives they go through. Everyone copes differently with these moments, depending on the person.

The main thing is that through it all, no matter how many times you’ve fought, how many battles you’ve been through, or how long they’ve lasted, the main thing to remember is to ALWAYS keep your head up.

There may be moments when you’re discouraged, beaten down, and almost feel like giving up. It’s in these moments that you’ve gotta remember you’re strong enough to overcome whatever it is you’re going through – you’re strong enough to take it on head on and come out victor in the end.

Musings Episode 62 Keep Your Head Up, Rego's Life Musings Episode 62 Keep Your Head Up, Musings Episode 62 Keep Your Head Up Rego's Life, Rego's Life, Optimism, Keep Your Head Up, positive quotes, stay positive, positivity, life, thoughts, good vibes, episodic musings

It’s absolutely critical you think this way, because like a child who grows up to be an adult, in difficult times optimism can often slip away and become lost.

It’s absolutely critical you hold onto that part of your childhood where optimism, innocence, and undying relentlessness keeps you pushing forward and persevering.

The only way children come to believe in Santa Claus is through these tools.

It’s the thought process we obtain as we get older that causes us to “stop believing” – stop hoping, stop anticipating the good, stop getting excited.

Sometimes, growing up can be one of the worst things to happen, depending on how you take it.

Or it can be the greatest – it all lies in whether or not you choose to accept or reject the majority’s thought process of how you should look at or come to accept situations, people, and experiences in life.

So stay true to being yourself – and remember, no matter what happens, it shall soon pass – and you’ll overcome it, find a way around it, or through it, the way YOU want to.

The only two things.people that have control over your life, is YOU, and the higher force that created you – the creator, universe, Adonai, energy & matter, mother nature, whatever you wanna call it.

Those are the ONLY two. Other than that, no one, and I do mean NO ONE, has the right to DICTATE what turn your life is supposed to take. No one has the right to control your destiny but YOU.

Let someone do that to you and you’ve officially let someone take your power.

No matter what happens, keep your head up…
